Femtosecond laser-assisted astigmatic keratotomy: a review

Background:Astigmatic keratotomy(AK)remains an accessible means to correct surgically induced or naturally occurring *** advantages of femtosecond laser-assisted astigmatic keratotomy(FsAK)over conventional methods have been recognized *** text:This review evaluates the efficacy,complications,and different methods of FsAK for correction of astigmatism in native eyes and those that underwent previous penetrating keratoplasty(PKP).The penetrating and intrastromal FsAK(IFsAK)techniques can reduce post-keratoplasty astigmatism by 35.4%to 84.77%and 23.53%to 89.42%,*** native eyes,the penetrating and IFsAK techniques reduce astigmatism by 26.8%to 58.62%and 36.3%to 58%respectively,implying that the magnitude of the astigmatic reduction is comparable between the two FsAK ***,IFsAK offers the additional advantages of almost no risk of infection,wound gape,and epithelial *** use of nomograms,anterior-segment optical coherence tomography,and consideration of posterior cornea and corneal biomechanics are helpful to enhance the efficacy and safety of *** complications of FsAK in eyes that underwent PKP include overcorrection,visual loss,microperforations,infectious keratitis,allograft rejection,and *** reported difficulties in native eyes include overcorrection,anterior gas breakthrough,and suction ***:In eyes that underwent PKP,FsAK effectively reduces high regular or irregular astigmatism,with rare and manageable ***,the drawbacks of the procedure include the potential loss of visual acuity and low *** native eyes undergoing femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery,IFsAK is a good choice to correct low astigmatism(s).The refractive effect of astigmatism from the posterior cornea needs to be considered in the nomograms for native eyes undergoing refractive cataract *** further improve the efficacy of FsAK,more large-scale ra

The sandstones of the Late miocene–Pliocene Dibdibba Formation in the Najaf–Karbala Plateau and Basra were examined to determine their source rocks and origin. The rare earth elements(REE) and trace elements(sc, Co, V, and Th) concentrations in these sandstones revealed that they likely derived from a single source. The steep light rare earth elements(LREE) and flat, heavy rare earth element(HREE) patterns, negative Eu anomaly, and high ΣREE contents in sandstones suggest its derivation from a suggests that a passive continental margin environment and originated from felsic source rocks. The average concentration of ΣREE is 93.5 ppm, which is lower than that of the average crustal compositions like Upper Continental Crust and Post Archean Australian shale. The higher proportion of LREE compared to HREE implies that these sandstones were recycled and derived from a distal source. The Th/Co, Th/sc, La/sc, La/Co, Eu/Eu*and(La/Lu)cn elemental ratios indicated that these Late miocene–Pliocene sandstones were derived from felsic rocks located in the marginal region of the Arabian shield.

Objective‘sludge’refers to administrative burdens or frictions that preclude people from getting what they want or need(eg,duplicative forms,complicated instructions,long waiting times).This mixed methods study evaluated patients’perceptions of sludge in the colorectal cancer(CRC)screening process and some impacts of this *** We employed an exploratory sequential mixed methods study design that comprised patient interviews and a patient *** interviews informed final survey revisions and captured contextual data about patients’experiences with *** transcripts were inductively and deductively analysed to identify overarching *** survey quantified sludge,delayed or forgone screenings,screening experience(Net Promoter score)and health system distrust(Health system Distrust scale).We usedχ2 or t-tests for univariable comparisons and logistic or linear regressions to evaluate the association between cumulative sludge score and delayed or forgone screenings,screening experience and health system *** were integrated for *** southeastern United *** Patients who were 45–75 years of age,at average risk for CRC and had either completed or been referred for CRC screening(colonoscopy or stool-based test)within the previous 12 *** 22 interview participants and 255 survey participants completed the study.38(15%)survey participants rated their screening experience as poor(Net Promoter score=0–7 out of 10).The mean(sD)Health system Distrust scale score was 22.4(6.3)out of 45 possible points(higher score=greater distrust).Perceptions of sludge in the CRC screening process varied,with long waiting times and burdensome communication being the most common sources(58%and 35%of participants,respectively).sludge was positively associated with delayed or forgone screenings(OR=1.42,95%CI 1.28,1.57,pscreening experience(OR=1.15,95%CI 1.04,1.28,p=0.009)and health system distrust(β=0.47,p

Real-World Evidence of multiple Air Pollutants and mortality:A Prospective Cohort study in an Oldest-Old Population

We aimed to report real-world longitudinal ambient air pollutants levels compared to WHO Air Quality Guidelines(AQG)and analyze multiple air pollutants’joint effect on longevity,and the modification and confounding from the climate and urbanization with a focus on the *** study included 13,207 old participants with 73.3%aged 80 and beyond,followed up from 2008 to 2018 in 23 Chinese *** used the Cox-proportional hazards model and quantile-based g-computation model to measure separate and joint effects of the multiple *** adjusted for climate and area economic factors based on a directed acyclic *** 2018,no participants met the WHO AQG for Pm_(2.5) and O_(3),and about one-third met the AQG for NO_(2).The hazard ratio(HR)for mortality was 1.07(95%confidence interval-CI:1.05,1.09)per decile increase in all three pollutants,with Pm_(2.5) being the dominant contributor according to the quantile-based g-computation *** the three-pollutant model,the HRs(95%CI)for Pm_(2.5) and NO_(2) were 1.27(1.25,1.3)and 1.08(1.05,1.12)per 10μg/m3 increase,*** oldest-old experienced a much lower mortality risk from air pollution compared to the *** mortality risk of Pm_(2.5) was higher in areas with higher annual average *** adjustment of road density considerably intensified the association between NO_(2) and *** ambient Pm_(2.5) and O_(3) levels in China exceeded the WHO AQG target *** pollutants coexposure,confounding,and modification of the district economic and climate factors should not be ignored in the association between air pollution and mortality.

screen sensors are the most commonly used human-machine interfaces in our everyday life,which have been extensively applied in personal electronics like *** screen sensors are attracting growing interest due to their distinct advantages of high interaction freedom,comfortability,and hand ***,the material compositions of current touchless screen sensors are rigid and fragile,hardly meeting the needs of wearable and stretchable on-skin electronics ***,these touchless screen sensors are also restricted by high power consumption,limited gesture types of recognition,and the requirement of light ***,we report a stretchable on-skin touchless screen sensor(OTss)enabled by an ionic hydrogel-based triboelectric nanogenerator(TENG).Compared with current touchless screen sensors,the OTss is stretchable,self-powered,and competent to recognize diverse gestures by making use of charges naturally carried on fingers without the need of sufficient light *** on-skin noncontact screen operating system is further demonstrated on the basis of the OTss,which could unlock a cellphone interface in touchless operation mode on the human *** work for the first time introduces the on-skin touchless concept to screen sensors and offers a direction to develop new-generation screen sensors for future cellphones and personal electronics.
