The composition of commensal bacteria plays a critical role in controlling immune responses in the *** have shown that specific bacterial strains may have the capacity to enhance host immune defense against gastrointestinal viral *** norovirus is known to be the most common cause of gastroenteritis,leading to an estimated 200,000 deaths every year,identification of bacterial strains with protective effects against norovirus infection remains ***,we discovered Lactobacillus salivarius HHuMin-U(HHuMin-U)as a potent antiviral strain against norovirus ***-U significantly suppressed murine norovirus replication and lowered viral RNA titers in *** transcriptome sequencing(RNA sequencing)analysis revealed that HHuMin-U markedly enhanced the expression level of antiviral interferon-stimulated genes compared to mock ***-U treatment dose-dependently induced type I interferons(IFN-αand IFN-β)and tumor necrosis factor-αproduction in mouse and human macrophages,promoting antiviral innate responses against norovirus *** on the molecular mechanism demonstrated that HHuMin-U can activate nuclear factorκB and TANK-binding kinase 1(TBK1)–interferon regulatory factor 3 signaling pathways,leading to the phosphorylation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 and signal transducer and activator of transcription 2,the key mediators of interferon-stimulated ***,oral administration of HHuMin-U increased IFN-βlevels in the ileum of mice and altered the gut microbiome *** results suggest the species/strain-specific importance of gut microbial composition for antiviral immune responses and the potential use of HHuMin-U as a probiotic agent.

A long-standing goal of spinal cord injury research is to develop effective repair strategies,which can restore motor and sensory functions to near-normal *** advances in clinical management of spinal cord injury have significantly improved the prognosis,survival rate and quality of life in patients with spinal cord *** addition,a significant progress in basic science research has unraveled the underlying cellular and molecular events of spinal cord *** efforts enabled the development of pharmacologic agents,biomaterials and stem-cell based *** these efforts,there is still no standard care to regenerate axons or restore function of silent axons in the injured spinal *** challenges led to an increased focus on another therapeutic approach,namely *** multiple animal models of spinal cord injury,epidural electrical stimulation of the spinal cord has demonstrated a recovery of motor *** evidence regarding the efficacy of epidural electrical stimulation has further expanded the potential of epidural electrical stimulation for treating patients with spinal cord ***,most clinical studies were conducted on a very small number of patients with a wide range of spinal cord ***,subsequent studies are essential to evaluate the therapeutic potential of epidural electrical stimulation for spinal cord injury and to optimize stimulation ***,we discuss cellular and molecular events that continue to damage the injured spinal cord and impede neurological recovery following spinal cord *** also discuss and summarize the animal and human studies that evaluated epidural electrical stimulation in spinal cord injury.

A pneumatic actuator is a fast and economical tool that converts compressed air into mechanical *** this paper,an extended state observer(ESO)-based sliding mode controller(SMC)is developed to adjust the air pressure of the actua-tor for accurate position control,Specifically,an impedance control module is established to produce desired air pressure based on the relationship between forces and desired ***,the ESO-based SMC is implemented to adjust the air pressure to the required level despite the presence of system uncertainties and *** a result,the position of the actuator is controlled to a setpoint through the regulation of *** performance of ESO-based SMC is compared with that of a classic active disturbance rciection controller(ADRC)and a *** results demonstrate that the:ESO-based SMC shows comparable performance to ADRC in terms of precise pressure *** addition,it requires the least control effort ncessary to excite valves among the three *** stability of ESO based SMC is theoretically justifed through Lyapunov approach.

Background: Autophagy is elevated in metastatic tumors and is often associatedwith active epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT). However, the extent towhich EMT is dependent on autophagy is largely unknown. This study aimed toidentify the mechanisms by which autophagy facilitates ***: We employed a liquid chromatography-based metabolomic approachwith kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene (KRAS) and liver kinase B1 (LKB1)gene co-mutated (KL) cells that represent an autophagy/EMT-coactivatedinvasive lung cancer subtype for the identification of metabolites linked to autophagy-driven EMT activation. Molecular mechanisms of autophagy-drivenEMT activation were further investigated by quantitative real-time polymerasechain reaction (qRT-PCR), Western blotting analysis, immunoprecipitation,immunofluorescence staining, and metabolite assays. The effects of chemicaland genetic perturbations on autophagic flux were assessed by two orthogonalapproaches: microtubule-associated protein 1A/1B-light chain 3 (LC3) turnoveranalysis by Western blotting and monomeric red fluorescent protein-greenfluorescent protein (mRFP-GFP)-LC3 tandem fluorescent protein quenchingassay. We initiate a study of the dependence of the choice of ground ring on the problem on whether a cluster algebra is equal to its upper cluster algebra. A condition for when there is equality of the cluster algebra and upper cluster algebra is given by using a variation of Muller's theory of cluster localization. An explicit example exhibiting dependence on the ground ring is provided. We also present a maximal green sequence for this example.

In order to study omithopter flight and to improve a dynamic model of flapping propulsion, a series 0f tests are conducted on a flapping-wing blimp. The blimp is designed and constructed from mylar plastic and balsa wood as a test platform for aerodynamics and flight dynamics. The blimp, 2.3 meters long and 420 gram mass, is propelled by its flapping wings. Due to buoyancy the wings have no lift requirement so that the distinction between lift and propulsion can be analyzed in a flight platform at low flight speeds. The blimp is tested using a Vicon motion tracking system and various initial conditions are tested including accelerating flight from standstill, decelerating from an initial speed higher than its steady state, and from its steady-state speed but disturbed in pitch angle. Test results are used to estimate parameters in a coupled quasi-steady aerodynamics/Newtonian flight dynamics model. This model is then analyzed using Floquet theory to determine local dynamic modes and stability. It is concluded that the dynamic model adequately describes the vehicle＇s nonlinear behavior near the steady-state velocity and that the vehicle＇s linearized modes are akin to those of a fixed-wing aircraft.

To overcome challenges of inhomogeneous transmit B1 distribution and high specific energy absorption rate (SAR) in MRI, we compare slice-selective array-optimized composite pulse and RF shimming designed to both improve B1 uniformity and reduce SAR using an 8-channel transmit head array loaded with a head model at various RF pulse excitation times, and compare results with standard quadrature voltage distribution at 3T (128 MHz) and 7T (300 MHz). The excitation uniformity was estimated throughout the 3D brain region and SAR was calculated for the whole head. The optimized composite pulse could produce significantly better homogeneity and significantly better homogeneity when SAR was not constrained, and both significantly better homogeneity and lower SAR when the pulse duration was allowed to be twice that of the quadrature or RF shimmed pulse. When the total pulse durations were constrained to the same length, the relative advantages of the optimized composite pulse for producing better homogeneity and lower SAR simultaneously were diminished. Using the optimization results, the slice-selective composite pulse sequence was implemented on a 3D MRI simulator currently under development, and showed both effective slice selection and improvement in excitation uniformity compared to a conventional quadrature driving method.

Bessel beams are of great interest due to their unique non-diffractive *** a conical prism or an objective paired with an annular aperture are two typical approaches for generating zeroth-order Bessel ***,the former approach has a limited numerical aperture(NA),and the latter suffers from low efficiency,as most of the incident light is blocked by the ***,an additional phase-modulating element is needed to generate higher-order Bessel beams,which in turn adds complexity and bulkiness to the *** overcome these problems using dielectric metasurfaces to realize meta-axicons with additional functionalities not achievable with conventional *** demonstrate meta-axicons with high NA up to 0.9 capable of generating Bessel beams with full width at half maximum about as small as~λ/3(λ=405 nm).Importantly,these Bessel beams have transverse intensity profiles independent of wavelength across the visible *** meta-axicons can enable advanced research and applications related to Bessel beams,such as laser fabrication,imaging and optical manipulation.

In this study a new water treatment system that couples （photo-） electrochemical catalysis （PEC or EC） in a microbial fuel cell （MFC） was configured using a stainless-steel （SS） cathode coated w th Fe / TiO2. We examined the destruction of methylene blue （MB） and tetracycline. Fe^0/TiO2 was prepared using a chemical reduction-deposition method and coated onto an SS wire mesh （500 mesh） using a sol technique. The anode generates electricity using microbes （bio-anode）. Connected via wire and ohmic resistance, the system requires a short reaction time and operates at a low cost by effectively remowng 94% MB （initial concentration 20 mg·L^-1） and 83% TOC/TOCo under visible light illumination （50 W; 1.99 mW·cm^-2 for 120 rain, MFC-PEC）. The removal was similar even without light irradiation （MFC-EC）. The EEo of the MFC-PEC system was approximately 0.675 kWh·m^-3. order-l whereas that of the MFC-EC system was zero. The system was able to remove 70% COD in tetracycline solution （initial tetracycline concentration 100 mg·L^-1） after 120 min of visible light illumination; without light, the removal was 15% lower. The destruction of MB and tetracycline in both traditional photocatalysis and photoelectrocatalysis systems was notably low. The electron spinresonance spectroscopy （ESR） study demonstrated that. oh was formed under visible light, and. 02 was formed without light. The bio-electricity-activated O2 and ROS （reactive oxidizing species） generation by Fe^0/TiO2 effectively degraded the pollutants. This cathodic degradation improved the electricity generation by accepting and consuming more electrons from the bio-anode.
