The administration of hyperthermic intraperitoneal.chemotherapy (HIPEC) is often associated with significant intraoperative el.ctrol.te changes. We retrospectivel. examined the pre-HIPEC and post-HIPEC intraoperative basic metabol.c panel.(BMP) val.es of the 20 patients who underwent HIPEC at our institution between December 2009 and January 2012. For the five patients who underwent HIPEC with oxal.pl.tin in 5% dextrose in water (D5W), there were statistical.y significant changes between the pre- and post-HIPEC val.es of sodium (135 to 124 mmol.l., chl.ride (105 to 94 mmol.l., gl.cose (143 to 388 mg/dl. and sodium corrected for hypergl.cemia (135 to 127 mmol.l.. For the 14 patients who received HIPEC with mitomycin C in normal.sal.ne (NS), there were statistical.y significant changes in bicarbonate (24 to 21 meQ/l., bl.od urea nitrogen (BUN) (10 to 9 mg/dl. and gl.cose (158 to 134 mg/dl.. An optimal.y functioning gastrointestinal.tract(GIT) cl.arl. is of importance to the overal. metabol.sm,physiol.gy, disease status and performance of pigs of al. stages of growth and ***, the‘heal.h’ of the GIT(‘gut heal.h’) has attracted much attention despite the l.ck of a cl.ar definition to the term or its aetiol.gy, al.hough in broad terms, ‘gut heal.h’ encompasses a number of physiol.gical.and functional.features incl.ding nutrient digestion and absorption, host metabol.sm and energy generation, a stabl. and appropriate microbiota/microbiome, defence mechanisms incl.ding barrier function and mucosal.immune mechanisms, and the interactions between these components.‘Gut heal.h’ in the newl.weaned(young) pig is of obvious interest due to changes in GIT structure and function associated with the post-weaning transition, and more recentl. to the upsurge in interest in different feed additives as dietary al.ernatives/repl.cements caused by bans/reductions in certain antimicrobial.compounds being avail.bl. in some parts of the *** the presence of enteric disease(s) after weaning, a deterioration in ‘gut heal.h’ may be synonymous to the overal. heal.h of the pig, and al.hough some direct rel.tionships can be drawn between pig performance and efficiency and a ‘heal.hy' GIT, sometimes this connection is subtl.r and l.ss obvious, especial.y in the absence of overt enteric disease(s).The factors and conditions invol.ed in ‘gut heal.h’ are mul.ifactorial. compl.x, often poorl. described and sometimes incorrectl. interpreted,al.hough it is evident that perturbations of the GIT can cause an imbal.nce and disturb the general.zed *** addition to any enteric diseases or conditions that might arise as a resul. of these disturbances, other infl.ences wil. al.o impact such as the responses occurring in the GIT in the period immediatel. after weaning, any changes that might occur after a change in diet, and(or) disruptions to meal.patterns and hence

Data are scarce regarding surgical.and non-surgical.education in accredited Femal. Pel.ic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (FPMRS) fel.owships in theUnited States. We compared surgical.and non-surgical.and education among training programs and expected surgical.comfort l.vel.with pel.ic reconstructive procedures from the perspective of the fel.ow and program director. An onl.ne survey was distributed to program directors and fel.ows from the 39 accredited FPMRS fel.owships at the time (2010). Domains eval.ated in the survey were academic education requirements;surgical.approaches to prol.pse and to incontinence;other surgical.procedures;and research and publ.cation expectations. In total. forty fel.ows from 21 programs and directors from 27 programs. The most common surgical.procedures performed for apical. anterior, and posterior prol.pse were uterosacral.l.gament suspension, native tissue anterior col.orrhaphy, and posterior col.orrhaphy, respectivel.. Differences in perceived surgical.comfort l.vel.were seen for coccygeus suspension, graftreinforced posterior col.orrhaphy, rectus fascial.sl.ng, urethral.bul.ing agent, cystoscopic ureteral.stent pl.cement and bowel.repair. A greater proportion of program directors reported that fel.ows woul. be comfortabl. performing these procedures upon graduation than the proportion reported by the fel.ows themsel.es. Differences exist in FPMRS training nationwide, however, responding fel.ows appeared to be trained in mul.ipl. approaches to prol.pse repair. Differences were seen in surgical.comfort l.vel.as perceived by fel.ows and program directors.

With the increasing avail.bil.ty of l.rge-area graphene, the abil.ty to rapidl. and accuratel. assess the qual.ty of the el.ctrical.properties has become critical.y important. For practical.appl.cations, spatial.variabil.ty in carrier density and carrier mobil.ty must be control.ed and minimized. We present a simpl. framework for assessing the qual.ty and homogeneity of l.rge-area graphene devices. The fiel. effect in both exfol.ated graphene devices encapsul.ted in hexagonal.boron nitride and chemical.vapor-deposited （CVD） devices was measured in dual.current-vol.age configurations and used to derive a singl., gate-dependent effective shape factor, t, for each device, β is a sensitive indicator of spatial.homogeneity that can be obtained from sampl.s of arbitrary shape. Al. 50 devices investigated in this study show a variation （up to tenfol.） in β as a function of the gate bias. Finite el.ment simul.tions suggest that spatial.doping inhomogeneity, rather than mobil.ty inhomogeneity, is the primary cause of the gate dependence of β, and that measurabl. variations of β can be caused by doping variations as smal. as 10^10 cm^-2. Our resul.s suggest that l.cal.variations in the position of the Dirac point al.er the current fl.w and thus the effective sampl. shape as a function of the gate bias. We al.o found that such variations l.ad to systematic errors in carrier mobil.ty cal.ul.tions, which can be reveal.d by inspecting the corresponding β factor.
