This paper presents experimental research about the behavior of different storage devices such as Li-ion, Ni-MH batteries and supercapacitors when charged by a solar photovoltaic system. Photovoltaic systems work as a variable current source, depending on the solar irradiance. These devices present a different profile charge compared to a constant and controlled charge generated by a traditional charger. For this work, several charging and discharging cycles of batteries and supercapacitors under the same environmental conditions were carried out in order to observe the different characteristics of each technology, and some harmful effects on the storage devices operation such as the memory effect and partial discharges involved in the proper functioning of the solar photovoltaic system.

In this paper,we address the problem that standard stochastic Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert(sLLG)simulations typically produce results that show unphysical mesh-size *** root cause of this problem is that the effects of spin-wave fluctuations are ignored in *** propose to represent the effect of these fluctuations by a full-spin-wave-scaled stochastic LLG,or FUSSS LLG *** FUSSS LLG,the intrinsic parameters of the sLLG simulations are first scaled by scaling factors that integrate out the spin-wave fluctuations up to the mesh size,and the sLLG simulation is then performed with these scaled *** developed FUSSS LLG by studying the Ferromagnetic Resonance(FMR)in Nd_(2)Fe_(14)B *** nominal scaling greatly reduced the mesh size dependence relative to *** then performed three tests and validations of our FUSSS LLG with this modified scaling.(1)We studied the same FMR but with magnetostatic fields included.(2)We simulated the total magnetization of the Nd_(2)Fe_(14)B cube.(3)We studied the effective,temperature-and sweeping rate-dependent coercive field of the *** all three cases,we found that FUSSS LLG delivered essentially mesh-size-independent results,which tracked the theoretical expectations better than unscaled *** by these successful validations,we propose that FUSSS LLG provides marked,qualitative progress towards accurate,high precision modeling of micromagnetics in hard,permanent magnets.

Broadband mid-infrared(IR)supercontinuum laser sources are essential for spectroscopy in the molecular fingerprint ***,we report generation of octave-spanning and coherent mid-IR supercontinua in As_(2)S_(3)-silica nanospike hybrid waveguides pumped by a custom-built 2.8μm femtosecond fiber *** waveguides are formed by pressure-assisted melt-filling of molten As_(2)S_(3) into silica capillaries,allowing the dispersion and nonlinearity to be precisely *** coherent spectra spanning from 1.1μm to 4.8μm(30 dB level)are observed when the waveguide is designed so that 2.8μm lies in the anomalous dispersion ***,linearly tapered millimeter-scale As_(2)S_(3)-silica waveguides are fabricated and investigated for the first time,to the best of our knowledge,showing much broader supercontinua than uniform waveguides,with improved spectral *** waveguides are demonstrated to be long-term stable and water-resistant due to the shielding of the As_(2)S_(3) by the fused silica *** offer an alternative route to generating broadband mid-IR supercontinua,with applications in frequency metrology and molecular spectroscopy,especially in humid and aqueous environments.

Mesenteric myolipoma

The authors report on a case of benign myolipoma(synonym lipoleiomyoma) which was first described in 1991. The benign soft tissue tumor is composed of smooth muscle and adipose tissue and occurs sporadically in different locations. In the available literature cases were described retroperitoneal, spinal, orbital and subcutaneous and mostly have been discovered in females. Characteristically myolipomas are very large at diagnosis and reach diameters of 7 to 30 cm particularly in peritoneal or retroperitoneal localization. The sometimes enormous size leads to a displacing growth pattern which ultimately leads to the clinical symptoms. The patients often complain of nonspecific, mostly painless abdominal or thoracic pressure. Bordered by an intact capsule the tumors show no signs of malignancy and in the available literature there is no evidence of metastatic seeding. To the best of our knowledge the presented case is the first description of a diffuse mesenteric myolipoma in a male individual. In this article, we present the multidetector computed tomographic image characteristics, macroscopic appearance and histopathological findings.
