Phase change materials(PCms)are a kind of highly efficient thermal storage materials which have a bright application prospect in many fields such as energy conservation in buildings,waste heat recovery,battery thermal management and so *** inorganic hydrated salt PCms have received increasing attention from researchers due to their advantages of being inexpensive and ***,inorganic hydrated salt PCms are still limited by the aspects of inappropriate phase change temperature,liquid phase leakage,large supercooling and severe phase separation in the application *** this work,sodium acetate trihydrate was selected as the basic inorganic PCm,and a novel shape-stabilized composite phase change material(CPCm)with good thermal properties was prepared by adding various functional *** first,the sodium acetate trihydrate-acetamide binary mixture was prepared and the melting point was adjusted using *** the binary mixture was incorporated into expanded graphite to synthesize a novel shape-stabilized *** thermophysical properties of the resultant shape-stabilized CPCm were systematically *** microscopic morphology and chemical structure of the obtained shape-stabilized CPCm were characterized and *** experiment results pointed out that acetamide could effectively lower the melting point of sodium acetate *** obtained shape-stabilized CPCm modified with additional 18%(mass fraction)acetamide and 12%(mass fraction)expanded graphite exhibited good shape stability and thermophysical characteristics:a low supercooling degree of 1.75℃and an appropriate melting temperature of 40.77℃were obtained;the latent heat of 151.64 kJ/kg and thermal conductivity of 1.411 W/(m·K)were also ***,after 50accelerated melting-freezing cycles,the obtained shape-stabilized CPCm represented good thermal reliability.

The number and composition of species in a community can be quantified withα-diversity indices,including species richness(R),Simpson’s index(D),and the Shannon-Wiener index(H΄).In forest communities,there are large variations in tree size among species and individu-als of the same species,which result in differences in eco-logical processes and ecosystem ***,tree size inequality(TSI)has been largely neglected in studies using the available diversity *** TSI in the diameter at breast height(DBH)data for each of 99920 m×20 m forest census quadrats was quantified using the Gini index(GI),a measure of the inequality of size *** generalized performance equation was used to describe the rotated and right-shifted Lorenz curve of the cumulative proportion of DBH and the cumulative proportion of number of trees per *** also examined the relationships ofα-diversity indices with the GI using correlation *** generalized performance equation effectively described the rotated and right-shifted Lorenz curve of DBH distributions,with most root-mean-square errors(990 out of 999 quadrats)beingmeans that the TSI increased with increasing spe-cies ***,two new indices are proposed that can balanceα-diversity against the extent of TSI in the com-munity:(1−GI)×D,and(1−GI)×H’.These new indices were significantly correlated with the original D and H΄,and did not increase the extent of variation within each group of *** study presents a useful tool for quantifying both species diversity and the variation in tree sizes in forest communities,especially in the face of cumulative species loss under global climate change.

metabolic collaboration between cells in the tumor microenvironment has a negligible effect on tumor growth

The tumor microenvironment is composed of a complex mixture of different cell types interacting under conditions of nutrient deprivation,but the metabolism therein is not fully understood due to difficulties in measuring metabolic fluxes and exchange of metabolites between different cell types in ***-scale metabolic modeling enables estimation of such exchange fluxes as well as an opportunity to gain insight into the metabolic behavior of individual cell ***,we estimated the availability of nutrients and oxygen within the tumor microenvironment using concentration measurements from blood together with a metabolite diffusion *** addition,we developed an approach to efficiently apply enzyme usage constraints in a comprehensive metabolic model of human *** combined modeling reproduced severe hypoxic conditions and the Warburg effect,and we found that limitations in enzymatic capacity contribute to cancer cells’preferential use of glutamine as a substrate to the citric acid ***,we investigated the common hypothesis that some stromal cells are exploited by cancer cells to produce metabolites useful for the cancer *** identified over 200 potential metabolites that could support collaboration between cancer cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts,but when limiting to metabolites previously identified to participate in such collaboration,no growth advantage was *** work highlights the importance of enzymatic capacity limitations for cell behaviors and exemplifies the utility of enzyme-constrained models for accurate prediction of metabolism in cells and tumor microenvironments.

The main protease(m^(pro))of SARS-CoV-2 is an attractive target in anti-COVID-19 therapy for its high conservation and major role in the virus life *** covalent m^(pro)inhibitor nirmatrelvir(in combination with ritonavir,a pharmacokinetic enhancer)and the non-covalent inhibitor ensitrelvir have shown efficacy in clinical trials and have been approved for therapeutic *** antiviral drugs are needed to fight the pandemic,while non-covalent m^(pro)inhibitors could be promising alternatives due to their high selectivity and favorable *** non-covalent m^(pro)inhibitors with desirable properties have been developed based on available crystal structures of m^(pro).In this article,we describe medicinal chemistry strategies applied for the discovery and optimization of non-covalent m^(pro)inhibitors,followed by a general overview and critical analysis of the available *** viewpoints and insights into current strategies for the development of non-covalent m^(pro)inhibitors are also discussed.

Remotely sensed data are frequently used for predicting and mapping ecosystem characteristics,and spatially explicit wall-to-wall information is sometimes proposed as the best possible source of information for ***,wall-to-wall information typically relies on model-based prediction,and several features of model-based prediction should be understood before extensively relying on this type of *** such feature is that model-based predictors can be considered both unbiased and biased at the same time,which has important implications in several areas of *** this discussion paper,we first describe the conventional model-unbiasedness paradigm that underpins most prediction techniques using remotely sensed(or other)auxiliary *** this point of view,model-based predictors are typically ***,we show that for specific domains,identified based on their true values,the same model-based predictors can be considered biased,and sometimes severely *** suggest distinguishing between conventional model-bias,defined in the statistical literature as the difference between the expected value of a predictor and the expected value of the quantity being predicted,and design-bias of model-based estimators,defined as the difference between the expected value of a model-based estimator and the true value of the quantity being *** show that model-based estimators(or predictors)are typically design-biased,and that there is a trend in the design-bias from overestimating small true values to underestimating large true ***,we give examples of applications where this is important to acknowledge and to potentially make adjustments to correct for the design-bias *** argue that relying entirely on conventional model-unbiasedness may lead to mistakes in several areas of application that use predictions from remotely sensed data.

BACKGROUND The association between the intestinal microbiota and psychiatric disorders is becoming increasingly *** gut microbiota contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis(CRC),as demonstrated with colibactin-producing Escherichia coli(CoPEC).AIm To evaluate the association between CoPEC prevalence and anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors with both preclinical and clinical *** Patients followed after a CRC surgery and for whom the prevalence of CoPEC has been investigated underwent a psychiatric *** were compared according to the CoPEC *** parallel C57BL6/J wild type mice and mice with a CRC susceptibility were chronically infected with a CoPEC *** behavior was assessed using the Elevated Plus maze test,the Forced Swimming Test and the Behavior recognition system PhenoTyper®.RESULTS In a limited cohort,all patients with CoPEC colonization presented with psychiatric disorders several years before cancer diagnosis,whereas only one patient(17%)without CoPEC *** result was confirmed in C57BL6/J wildtype mice and in a CRC susceptibility mouse model(adenomatous polyposis colimultiple intestinal neoplasia/+).mice exhibited a significant increase in anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors after chronic infection with a CoPEC *** This finding provides the first evidence that CoPEC infection can induce microbiota-gut-brain axis disturbances in addition to its procarcinogenic properties.

Repeated exposure of fluazinam fungicides affects gene expression profiles yet carries no costs on a nontarget pest

Fungicides are used to control pathogenic fungi of crop species,but they have also been shown to alter behavioral,life history and fitness related traits of nontarget ***,we tested the fungicide effects on feeding behavior,survival and physiology of the nontarget pest insect,the Colorado potato beetle(CPB)(Leptinotarsa decemlineata).Feeding behavior was studied by a choice test of adult beetles,which were allowed to choose between a control and a fungicide(fluazinam)treated potato *** survival was recorded after 24 and 72 h exposure to control and fungicide-treated leaves with 2 different *** adults did not show fungicide avoidance ***,survival of the larvae was not affected by the exposure to ***,to understand the effects of fungicides at the physiological level(gene expression),we tested whether the larval exposure to fungicide alter the expression of 5 metabolic pathway and stress associated *** concentration and 72-h exposure caused upregulation of 1 cytochrome P450(CYP9Z14v2)and 1 insecticide resistance gene(Ldace1),whereas metabolic detoxification gene(Ugt1)was *** 24-h exposure,highest concentration caused downregulation of another common detoxification gene(Gs),while both exposure times to lowest concentration caused upregulation of the Hsp70 stress tolerance *** these overall effects,there was a considerable amount of variation among different families in the gene expression *** though the behavioral effects of the fungicide treatments were minor,the expression level differences of the studied genes indicate changes on the metabolic detoxifications and stress-related pathways.

[背景]在空气污染暴露与慢性健康影响之间关系的队列研究中,需要对很长一段时间的暴露进行预测。[目的]作为多种族动脉粥样硬化和空气污染研究(mESA Air)的一部分,我们利用从1999年至2012年初美国6个都市地区的数据,建立一种统一的建模方法,以预测细颗粒物、二氧化氮、氮氧化物和黑碳(通过光吸收系数来测量)。[方法]获得调控网络的监测数据,并用mESA Air社区位置和参与者家中收集到的研究测量指标对这些数据进行补充。在每个区域,我们采用一种包括长期空间均值、带有空间变化系数的时间趋势以及时空残差的时空模型。模型的均值结构来自于一组地理协变量,使用偏最小二乘回归减小这组值。根据观测到的时间序列估计时间趋势,并用空间平滑方法来增加观察值间的强度。[结果]大部分模型的预测精度都较高,对监测点和固定位置来说,大部分地区和污染物的交叉验证R2(R2CV)>0.80。在家庭所在地,总R2CV范围为0.45至0.92,时间校正的R2CV范围为0.23到0.92。[结论]这一新颖的时空建模方法为多个区域的4种污染物提供了精确的预测值。我们得出了mESA Air研究特定参与者的预测值,以了解长期空气污染暴露对健康的影响。这些成果突显出这一先进的建模方法可以被更广泛地用于当代队列研究中。

We prove that, as in the finite dimensional case, the space of Bloch functions on the unit ball of a Hilbert space contains, under very mild conditions, any semi-Banach space of analytic functions invariant under automorphisms. The multipliers for such Bloch space are characterized and some of their spectral properties are described.
