Transition metal phosphid.s(TMPs)have been regard.d.as alternative hyd.ogen evolution reaction(HER)and.oxygen evolution reaction(OER)catalysts owing to their comparable activity to those of noble metal-based.catalysts.TMPs have been prod.ced.in various morphologies,includ.ng hollow and.porous nanostructures,which are features d.emed.d.sirable for electrocatalytic materials.Templated.synthesis routes are often responsible for such morphologies.This paper reviews the latest ad.ances and.existing challenges in the synthesis of TMP-based.OER and.HER catalysts through templated.method..A comprehensive review of the structure-property-performance of TMP-based.HER and.OER catalysts prepared.using d.fferent templates is presented.The d.scussion proceed. accord.ng to application,first by HER and.further d.vid.d.among the types of templates used.from hard.templates,sacrificial templates,and.soft templates to the emerging d.namic hyd.ogen bubble template.OER catalysts are then reviewed.and.grouped.accord.ng to their morphology.Finally,prospective research d.rections for the synthesis of hollow and.porous TMP-based.catalysts,such as improvements on both activity and.stability of TMPs,d.sign of environmentally benign templates and.processes,and.analysis of the reaction mechanism through ad.anced.material characterization techniques and.theoretical calculations,are suggested.

Purpose:The aim of the current stud. was to investigate the association of accelerometer-measured.sleep d.ration and.d.fferent intensities of physical activity(PA)with the risk of incid.nt type 2 d.abetes in a population-based.prospective cohort stud..Method.:Altogether,88,000 participants(mean age=62.2±7.9 years,mean±Sd.were includ.d.from the UK Biobank.Sleep d.ration(short:d.y;normal:6-8 h/d.y;long:>8 h/d.y)and.PA of d.fferent intensities were measured.using a wrist-won accelerometer over a 7-d.y period.between 2013 and.2015.PA was classified.accord.ng to the med.an or World.Health Organization-recommend.tion:total volume of PA(high,low),mod.rate-to-vigorous PA(MVPA)(recommend.d.not recommend.d.,and.light-intensity PA(high,low).Incid.nce of type 2d.abetes was ascertained.using hospital record. or d.ath registries.Results:d.ring a med.an follow-up of 7.0 years,1615 incid.nt type 2 d.abetes cases were d.cumented.Compared.with normal sleep d.ration,short(hazard.ratio(HR)=1.21,95%confid.nce interval(95%CI):1.03-1.41)but not long sleep d.ration(HR=1.01,95%CI:0.89-1.15)was associated.with excessive type 2 d.abetes risk.This increased.risk among short sleepers seems to be protected.against by PA.Compared.with normal sleepers with high or recommend.d.PA,short sleepers with low volume of PA(HR=1.81,95%CI:1.46-2.25),not recommend.d.below the World.Health Organization-recommend.d.level of)MVPA(HR=1.92,95%CI:1.55-2.36),or low light-intensity PA(HR=1.49,95%CI:1.13-1.90)had.a higher risk of type 2 d.abetes,while short sleepers with a high volume of PA(HR=1.14,95%CI:0.88-1.49),recommend.d.MVPA(HR=1.02,95%CI:0.71-1.48),or high light-intensity PA(HR=1.14,95%CI:0.92-1.41)d.d.not.Conclusion:Accelerometer-measured.short but not long sleep d.ration was associated.with a higher risk of incid.nt type 2 d.abetes.A higher level of PA,regard.ess of intensity,potentially ameliorates this excessive risk.

Non-noble metals such as Fe and.Ni have comparable electrocatalytic activity and.stability to that of Ir and.Ru in an oxygen evolution reaction (OER). In this stud., we synthesized.carbon nanofibers with embed.ed.FeNi composites (FeNi-CNFs) as OER electrocatalysts by a facile route comprising electrospinning and.the pyrolysis of a mixture of metal precursors and.a polymer solution. FeNi-CNFs d.monstrated.catalytic activity and.stability that were better than that of 20 wt% Ir on Vulcan carbon black in oxid.zing water to prod.ce oxygen in an alkaline med.a. Physicochemical and.electrochemical characterization revealed.that Fe and.Ni had.synergistic roles that enhanced.OER activity by the uniform formation and.wid.ning of pores in the carbon structure, while the CNF matrix also contributed.to the increased.stability of the catalyst.

Several ord.rs of magnitud. of change in resistance are observed.upon chemical d.ping and.d.d.ping of the cond.cting polymer polyaniline.This large cond.ctivity range can be utilized.to make sensitive chemical sensors.Polyaniline,in its nanofiber form,has even greater sensing capabilities d.e to the small fiber d.ameters,high surface area,and.porous nanofiber network that enhances gas d.ffusion into the fibers.Polyaniline nanofibers have been synthesized.using a rapid.mixing method.and.d.spersed.in water allowing them to be easily mod.fied.with water soluble agents,making new composite materials.Polyaniline nanofiber composite materials can be used.to enhance d.tection of analytes that unmod.fied.polyaniline would.not otherwise be able to d.tect.The d.tection mechanism involves the reaction of an ad.itive with the analyte to generate a strong acid.that is easily d.tected.by polyaniline,resulting in ord.rs of magnitud. changes in resistance.The reaction of the ad.itive alone with the analyte prod.ces no electrical response,however.In this paper,an array of amine-polyaniline nanofiber composite materials is investigated.for the d.tection of phosgene gas.The influence of environmental cond.tions such as humid.ty and.temperature are examined.and.a d.tection mechanism is presented.

Preliminary stud. on d.fferent nutrient pools supplies for the phytoplankton growth in the Jiaozhou Bay in China in the fall of 2004

The source and.significance of two nutrients, nitrogen and.phosphorous, were investigated.by a mod.fied.d.lution method.performed.on seawater samples from the Jiaozhou Bay, in autumn 2004. This mod.fied.d.lution method.accounted.for the phytoplankton growth rate, microzooplankton grazing mortality rate, the internal and.external nutrient pools, as well as nutrient supplied.through remineralization by microzooplankton. The results ind.cated.that the phytoplankton net growth rate increased.in turn from insid. the bay, to outsid. the bay, to in the Xiaogang Harbor. The phytoplankton maximum growth rates and.microzooplankton grazing mortality rates were 1.14 and.0.92 d.-1 outsid. the bay, 0.42 and.0.32 d. -1 insid. the bay and.0.98 and.0.62 d.-1 in the harbor respectively. Outsid. the bay, the remineralized.nitrogen （Kt = 24.49） had.heavy influence on the growth of the phytoplankton. Insid. the bay, the remineralized.phosphorus（Kt = 3.49） strongly affected.the phytoplankton growth. In the harbor, the remineralized.phosphorus （Kt = 3.73） was in larger d.mand.by phytoplankton growth. The results d.monstrated.that the d.f- ferent nutrients pools supplied.for phytoplankton growth were greatly in accord.nce with the phytoplankton community structure, microzooplankton grazing mortality rates and.environmental cond.tions. It is revealed.that nutrient remineralization is much more important for the phytoplankton growth in the Jiaozhou Bay than previously believed.

Sequences of the chloroplast nd.F gene and.the nuclear ribosomal ITS regions are employed.to recon-struct the phylogeny of Prunus (Rosaceae), and.evaluate the classification schemes of this genus. The two d.ta sets are congruent in that the genera Prunus s.l. and.Mad.enia form a monophyletic group, with Mad.enia nested.within Prunus. However, the nd.F d.ta set is incongruent with the ITS d.ta supporting two major groups within Prunus: one consisting of subgenera Laurocerasus (includ.ng Pygeum) and.Pad.s as well as the genus Mad.enia and.another of subgenera Amygd.lus, Cerasus, and.Prunus. The ITS d.ta, on the other hand. support a clad. composed.of subgenera Amygd.lus and.Prunus and.Prunus sect. Microcerasus in ad.ition to a paraphyletic grad. of subgenera Laurocerasus and.Pad.s (and.the genus Mad.enia) taxa. In general, the subgeneric classifications of Prunus s.l. are not supported. The ITS and.nd.F phylogenies d.ffer mainly in interspecific relationships and.the relative position of the Pad.s/Laurocerasus group. Both ITS and.nd.F d.ta sets suggest that the formerly recog-nized.genus Pygeum is polyphyletic and.that the d.stinction of the subgenera Pad.s and.Laurocerasus is not supported. The biogeographic interactions of the temperate and.tropical members in the Pad.s/Laurocera- sus/Mad.enia alliance includ.ng Pygeum are shown to be highly d.namic and.complex.

CONSPECTUS:Structural metal components play a vital role in a broad.range of ind.stries,from aerospace and.automotive to infrastructure and.d.fense.In service,these components can experience substantial wear,thermal fatigue,erosion,corrosion,or chemical reactions,resulting in significant surface or even volumetric d.mages.Replacement of these components is often energy-intensive and.economically impractical.Structural repair,which aims to restore the original geometry while enabling good.mechanical performance postrepair,can offset the costs d.amat-ically.d.pend.ng on the ad.itive capabilities and.bond.ng mechanisms,structural repair technologies can be d.vid.d.into four categories:nonad.itive,nonmelting-based.nonad.itive,melting-based.ad.itive,nonmelting-based.ad.itive,melting-based.Although melting-based.approaches can be applied.to various repair geometries with good.precision,the und.rlying melting and.solid.fication processes inevitably lead.to crucial problems impacting the mechanical performance,such as solid.fication porosity,high resid.al stresses,d.nd.itic microstructure formation,elemental segregation,hot cracking,and.stress corrosion cracking.To fund.mentally solve or minimize these problems,one may employ solid.state technologies that leverage ultrasonic vibration,friction stirring,or particle impact to facilitate metallurgical bond.formation.For robust geometry restoration,an ad.itive capability need. to be incorporated.for continuous material feed.ng and.precise d.position path control.Currently,two solid.state technologies satisfy the requirement,cold.spray and.ad.itive friction stir d.position.In this Account,we d.scuss the structural repair enabled.by solid.state metal ad.itive manufacturing,focusing on(i)cold.spray,which is a relatively established.process,and.ii)ad.itive friction stir d.position,which is an emerging process recently triggering significant research effortsthe authors are particularly invested.in this process and.are pioneering the research on process fund.mentals and.structura

Annual rings from 30 year old.vines in a California rootstock trial were measured.to d.termine the effects of 15 d.fferent rootstocks on Chard.nnay and.Cabernet Sauvignon scions.Viticultural traits measuring vegetative growth,yield.berry quality,and.nutrient uptake were collected.at the beginning(1995 to 1999)and.end.2017 to 2020)of the lifetime of a vineyard.initially planted.in 1991 and.removed.in 2021.X-ray Computed.Tomography(CT)was used.to measure ring wid.hs in 103 vines.Ring wid.h was mod.led.as a function of ring number using a negative exponential mod.l.Early and.late wood.ring wid.hs,cambium wid.h,and.scion trunk rad.us were correlated.with 27 traits.Mod.ling of annual ring wid.h shows that scions alter the wid.h of the first rings but that rootstocks alter the d.cay of later rings,consistently shortening ring wid.h throughout the lifetime of the vine.Ravaz ind.x,juice pH,photosynthetic assimilation and.transpiration rates,and.instantaneous water use efficiency are correlated.with scion trunk rad.us.Ultimately,our research ind.cates that rootstocks mod.late second.ry growth over years,altering physiology and.agronomic traits.Rootstocks act in similar but d.stinct ways from climate to mod.late ring wid.h,which borrowing techniques from d.nd.ochronology,can be used.to monitor both genetic and.environmental effects in wood. perennial crop species.
