Introduction:According to the empirical regularity called Taylor’s law,the variance of population density in samples of populations is a power of the mean population *** exponent is often between 1 and *** experiments investigated how genetics,evolution,and environment shape Taylor’s ***:Genetically different strains(wild type and hypermutator)of the bacterium Pseudomonas fluorescens evolved and were assayed under different environmental conditions(with and without antibiotic rifampicin and bacteriophage SbW252,separately and in combination).Results:Experimental treatments altered the exponent b,but not the power law form,of the relation between variance and mean population *** populations treated only with rifampicin had a narrow range of mean population densities and exponent b=*** exposed to rifampicin plus phage had b=*** ancestral,control,and phage-exposed populations,mean abundance varied widely and b was not significantly different from *** factors(mutation rate,selection)and ecological factors(abiotic,biotic)jointly influenced ***:Taylor’s power law relationship accurately and robustly described variance as a function of mean population density,with overall exponent b=*** and other experiments with different factors acting on bacterial population size support the relevance of models that predict‘universal’patterns of fluctuation scaling.

In this paper,aβ-C-pyranogalactoside(Ⅸ)was synthesized from D-galactose through a nine-step reaction with a total yield of 32%under the palladium catalyst,and its structure was characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)and high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry(HR-ESI-MS).The absolute configuration of this pyranogalactoside was confirmed with a Flack parameter of–0.01(6)by X-ray crystallography using a Cu radiation ***(Ⅸ),C_(12)H_(19)NO_(7),crystal data:monoclinic system,space group P2_(1)2_(1)2_(1),a=8.53480(10),b=9.4207(2),c=18.1308(3)A,V=1457.79(4)A^(3),Z=4,F(000)=616,Dc=1.318 g/cm^(3),μ=0.931 mm^(-1),R=0.0294 and wR=0.0752 for 2875 independent reflections(R_(int)=0.0163)and 2857 observed ones(I>2σ(I)).

We report the charge-changing cross sections(σ_(cc))of 24 p-shell nuclides on both hydrogen and carbon at about 900A MeV,of which^(8,9)Li,^(10–12)be,^(10,14,15)b,^(14,15,17–22)N and^(16)O on hydrogen and^(8,9)Li on carbon are for the first *** from the data set,we found a new and robust relationship between the scaling factor of the Glauber model calculations and the separation energies of the nuclei of interest on both *** allows us to deduce proton radii(R_p)for the first time from the cross sections on *** identical R_p values are deduced from both target data for the neutron-rich carbon isotopes;however,the R_p from the hydrogen target is systematically smaller in the neutron-rich nitrogen *** calls for further experimental and theoretical investigations.

bat algorithm(bA)is an eminent meta-heuristic algorithm that has been widely used to solve diverse kinds of optimization *** leverages the echolocation feature of bats produced by imitating the bats’searching *** faces premature convergence due to its local search *** of using the standard uniform walk,the Torus walk is viewed as a promising alternative to improve the local search *** this work,we proposed an improved variation of bA by applying torus walk to improve diversity and *** *** Computerized bat Algorithm(MCbA)approach has been examined for fifteen well-known benchmark test *** finding of our technique shows promising performance as compared to the standard PSO and standard *** proposed MCbA,bPA,Standard PSO,and Standard bA have been examined for well-known benchmark test problems and training of the artificial neural network(ANN).We have performed experiments using eight benchmark datasets applied from the worldwide famous machine-learning(ML)repository of *** results have shown that the training of an ANN with MCbA-NN algorithm tops the list considering exactness,with more superiority compared to the traditional *** MCbA-NN algorithm may be used effectively for data classification and statistical problems in the future.

Testing for hepatitis b virus alone does not increase vaccine coverage in non-immunized persons

AIM To determine whether hepatitis b virus(HbV)-testing could serve as a gateway to vaccinate non-immunized individuals in a low-prevalent *** Non-immunized subjects participating in a multi-center, HbV-testing campaign in Paris, France were identified and contacted via telephone 3-9 mo after testing in order to determine vaccination status. Vaccination coverage was evaluated in per-protocol(for all respondents) and intent-to-treat analysis(assuming all non-responders did not vaccinate).RESULTS In total, 1215/4924(24.7%) enrolled subjects with complete HbV serology were identified as nonimmunized and eligible for analysis. There were 99/902 successfully contacted subjects who had initiated HbV vaccination after screening: per-protocol, 11.0%(95%CI: 9.0-13.2); intent-to-treat, 8.2%(95%CI: 6.7-9.8). In multivariable analysis, vaccination was more likely to be initiated in individuals originating from moderate or high HbV-endemic countries(P bout the reasons for not initiating HbV vaccination, the most frequent response was "will be vaccinated later"(33.4%), followed by "did not want to vaccinate"(29.8%), and "vaccination was not proposed by the physician"(21.5%). Sub-group analysis indicated a stark contrast in vaccination coverage across centers, ranging from 0%-56%.CONCLUSION HbV-vaccination after HbV screening was very low in this study, which appeared largely attributed to physician-patient motivation towards vaccination. Increased vaccination coverage might be achieved by emphasizing its need at the organizational level.

This article describes a study on a non-thermal plasma device to treat exhaust gases in an internal combustion engine. Several tests using a plasma device to treat exhaust gases are conducted on a Honda GX200- 196 cm3 engine at different rotational speeds. A plasma reactor could be efficient in degrading nitrogen oxides and particulate matter. Monoxide and carbon dioxide treatment is minimal. However, achieving 1%-3% degradation may be interesting to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases.

Objective:Proficiency in endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery requires both substantial baseline training and progressive lifelong *** simulation models continue to evolve in an effort to optimize trainee education and preoperative preparation and improve surgical *** current scoping review systematically reviews all available literature and synthesizes the current paradigms of simulation models for endoscopic skull base surgery training and skill ***:In accordance with Preferred Reporting Items for Systemic Review and Meta-Analyses guidelines,we systematically searched PubMed,Embase,CINAHL,and Cochrane *** were categorized according to the type of simulation models ***:We identified 238 unique references,with 55 studies ultimately meeting inclusion *** these,19 studies described cadaveric dissection models,17 discussed three-dimensional(3D)printed models,14 examined virtual surgical planning and augmented reality-based models,and five 5 articles described task ***:There are a wide variety of simulation models for endoscopic skull base surgery,including high-fidelity cadaveric,virtual reality,and 3D-printed *** models are an asset for trainee development and preoperative surgical preparation.

Jacobsen syndrome (JS) is a rare, inherited disorder, characterized by facial and skull dysmorphism, mental retardation, and platelet abnormalities. Paris-Trousseau syndrome (PTS) is a platelet function disorder that may be encountered in patients affected by JS. PTS is manifested by a mild lifelong bleeding tendency. Morphologically, the presence of large fused platelet alpha granules is characteristic. We present a case of Jacobsen syndrome in a child and highlight the typical morphologic and ultrastructure findings of platelets.
