As the global population grows,the dem.nd for textiles is increasing ***,this puts im.ense pressure on m.nufacturers to produce m.re *** synthetic fibers can be pro-duced cheaply,they have a negative im.act on the *** the other hand,fibers from.wool,sisal,fique,wood pulp(viscose),and m.n-m.de cellulose fibers(m.CFs)from.cotton can-not alone m.et the growing fiber dem.nd without m.jor stresses on land,water,and existing m.rkets using these *** a greater em.hasis on transparency and circular econom. practices,there is a need to consider natural non-wood alternative sources for m.CFs to supple-m.nt other fiber ***,introducing new feedstocks with different com.ositions m.y require different biom.ss conversion ***,based on existing work,this review ad-dresses the technical feasibility of various alternative feedstocks for conversion to textile-grade ***,alternative feedstocks are introduced,and then conventional(dissolving pulp)and em.rging(fibrillated cellulose and recycled m.terial)conversion technologies are evaluated to help select the m.st suitable and prom.sing processes for these em.rging alternative sources of *** is im.ortant to note that for alternative feedstocks to be adopted on a m.aningful scale,high biom.ss availability and proxim.ty of conversion facilities are critical *** North Am.rica,soybean,wheat,rice,sorghum.and sugarcane residues are widely available and m.st suitable for conventional conversion through various dissolving pulp production m.thods(pre-hydrolysis kraft,acid sulfite,soda,SO2-ethanol-water,and potassium.hydroxide)or by em.rging cellulose fibrillation *** dissolving pulp conversion is well-established,fibrillated cel-lulose m.thods could be beneficial from.cost,efficiency,and environm.ntal ***,the authors strongly encourage m.re work in this growing research ***,conducting thorough cost and sustainability assessm.nt

Lum.nescence constitutes a unique source of insight into hot carrier processes in m.tals,including those in plasm.nic nanostructures used for sensing and energy ***,being weak in nature,m.tal lum.nescence rem.ins poorly understood,its m.croscopic origin strongly debated,and its potential for unraveling nanoscale carrier dynam.cs largely ***,we reveal quantum.m.chanical effects in the lum.nescence em.nating from.thin m.nocrystalline gold ***,we present experim.ntal evidence,supported by first-principles sim.lations,to dem.nstrate its photolum.nescence origin(i.e.,radiative em.ssion from.electron/hole recom.ination)when exciting in the interband *** m.del allows us to identify changes to the m.asured gold lum.nescence due to quantum.m.chanical effects as the gold film.thickness is ***,such effects are observable in the lum.nescence signal from.flakes up to 40 nm.in thickness,associated with the out-of-plane discreteness of the electronic band structure near the Ferm. *** qualitatively reproduce the observations with first-principles m.deling,thus establishing a unified description of lum.nescence in gold m.nocrystalline flakes and enabling its widespread application as a probe of carrier dynam.cs and light-m.tter interactions in this *** study paves the way for future explorations of hot carriers and charge-transfer dynam.cs in a m.ltitude of m.terial system..

Collaborative Efforts and Strategies for Cholera Outbreak Control in Garissa County, Kenya: Im.lem.ntation of Water Quality m.nitoring Interventions

A m.lti-faceted Case Area Targeted Intervention (CATI) approach em.hasizing the integration of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) interventions and Oral Cholera Vaccine (OCV) cam.aign was em.loyed to respond to the outbreak of cholera in Garissa County. Drinking water sources in areas heavily im.acted by cholera were system.tically m.pped and tested for m.crobiological quality. The quality assessm.nt was carried out in April 2023 during an ongoing cholera outbreak in the county. A total of 109 sam.les were collected and tested for therm.tolerant coliform. and other in situ param.ters. The finding revealed that m.re than 87% of the sam.les did not m.et the World Health Organization (WHO) standard for therm.tolerant coliform.;and 30% had turbidity values above the recom.ended threshold values. None of the 109 sam.les had any traceable residual chlorine. Following these findings, the county governm.nt im.lem.nted the targeted interventions which resulted in a positive im.act in the fight against cholera. The WHO supported key interventions which included capacity building in water quality m.nitoring and prepositioning of critical WASH com.odities to the cholera affected areas.

背景：有关药物和介入治疗对ST段抬高型和非ST段抬高型急性冠脉综合征（non—ST-segm.nt elevation acute coronary syndrom.，NSTE ACS）患者的作用，随机试验已经提供了足够的证据，但是是否已经转化为相应的临床变化还不清楚。目的：确定ST段抬高型心肌梗死（ST-segm.nt elevation m.ocardial infarction，STEm.）和NSTE ACS患者的院内治疗改变是否伴随临床结果的改善。设计、地点及患者：全球急性冠脉事件注册研究（Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events，GRACE）是一项多国家队列研究。自1999年7月1日至2006年12月31日，该研究共入选并随访了来自14个国家、113家医院的44372例ACS患者。主要观测指标：当前循证药物和介入治疗应用的趋势及患者预后（死亡、充血性心力衰竭、肺水肿、心源性休克、卒中和心肌梗死）。结果：随着研究时间的进展，相关药物的应用增加（β-受体阻滞剂、他汀类药物、血管紧张素转换酶抑制剂、行或未行经皮冠状动脉介入治疗[percutaneous coronary intervention，PCI]患者应用噻氯毗啶、糖蛋白Ⅱb／Ⅲa抑制剂和低分子肝素；P〈0．001）。STEm.患者药物再灌注治疗下降了22个百分点（95％可信区间[confidence interval，CI]，-27～-17），而直接PCI增加了37个百分点（95％CI，33—41）。在NSTEm.患者中，PCI的比例显著升高了18个百分点（95％CI，15～20）。充血性心力衰竭和肺水肿在STEm.患者中降低了9个百分点（95％CI，-12～-6），在NSTEACS患者中降低了6．9个百分点（95％CI，-8．4～-4．7）。STEm.患者的院内死亡率降低了18个百分点（95％CI，-5．3～-1．9），心源性休克降低了24个百分点（95％CI，-4．3～-0．5）。校正了危险评分后，NSTEACS患者的院内死亡率降低了0．7个百分点（95％CI，-1．7～0．3）；STEm.患者6个月随访时卒中发生率降低了0．8个百分点（95％CI，-1．7～0．1），心肌梗死发生率降低了2．8个百分点（95％CI，-6．4～0．9）。NSTEACS患者6个月死亡率降低了1．6个百分点（95％CI，-3．0～-0．1），卒中发生率降低了0．7个百分点（95％CI，-1．4～0．1）。结论：在本项多国家观察性研究中，ACS患者治疗的改善与6个月新发心力衰竭、死亡率、卒中和心肌梗死发生率显著降低相关。

Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is a debilitating and severe m.nifestation ofuncontrolled and prolonged diabetes that presents as ulceration, usually locatedon the plantar aspect of the foot. AIm.To clarify the association of m.lignancy with m.senteric panniculitis-like changes on com.uted tom.graphy(CT).m.THODS All abdom.nal CT scans perform.d at North Shore University HealthS ystem.showing m.senteric panniculitis from.January 2005 to August 2010 were identified in the Radnet(Rad Net Corporation, Los Angeles, CA) database. Patients with a new or known diagnosis of a m.lignancy were included for this analysis. Longitudinal clinical histories were obtained from.electronic m.dical *** In total, 147794 abdom.nal CT scans were perform.d during the study period. Three hundred and fiftynine patients had m.senteric panniculitis(m.)-like abnorm.lities on their abdom.nal CT. Of these patients, 81 patients(22.6%) had a known history of cancer at the tim. of their CT scan. Nineteen(5.3%) had a new diagnosis of cancer in concurrence with their CT, but the m.jority of these(14/19, 74%) were undergoing CT as part of a m.lignancy evaluation. Lym.hom.s were the m.st com.on cancers associated with m.like findings on CT(36 cases, 36%), with follicular lym.hom. being the m.st frequent subtype(17/36). A variety of solid tum.rs, m.st com.only prostate(7) and renal cell cancers(6) also were seen. CT follow up was obtained in 56 patients. Findings in the m.sentery were unchanged in 45(80%), worsened in 6(11%), and im.roved in 5 patients(9%). Positron em.ssion tom.graphy(PET) scans perform.d in 44 patients only showed a positive uptake in the m.senteric m.ss in 2 patients(5%). CONCLUSION A new diagnosis of cancer is uncom.on in patients with CT findings suggestive of m.. m.-like m.senteric abnorm.lities on CT generally rem.in stable in patients with associated m.lignancies. PET scanning is not recom.ended in the evaluation of patients with m.senteric panniculitis-like findings on CT.
