Effect of Rice Bran Quality and.Protein Supplement, Base Mix, and.or Soybean Meal on Growing Pig Performance in Cambod.a

The objective of this stud. was to evaluate the effect of rice bran quality and.d.etary supplement source on growing pig performance. A total of 60 castrated.male pigs (Yorkshire × d.roc, initially 16.1 kg) were used.for 52-d.y trial. Pigs were allotted.to pens in a completely rand.mized.d.sign (4 pigs per pen) and.assigned.to four d.etary treatments in a 2 × 2 factorial with factors being rice bran source (high or low-quality) and.source of protein, vitamins, and.minerals (supplement or soybean meal and.base mix). Analyzed.protein and.fat level for the high- and.low-quality rice bran was 11.07% and.5.86% and.11.20% and.4.50%, respectively. Crud. fiber content for high- and.low-quality rice bran was 13.44% and.27.79%. d.ets were formulated.in two phases (phase 1: 16 to 27 and.phase 2: 27 to 48 kg) to ad.ust to the pig’s nutrient requirements. There was no evid.nce for an interaction (P > 0.05) between rice bran quality × supplement type or main effect of supplement type (soybean meal + base mix vs protein supplement) for final bod. weight, average d.ily gain (Ad.), average d.ily feed.intake (Ad.I), and.feed.efficiency (F/G). However, pigs fed.high-quality rice bran had.improved.(P d. and.F/G and.lower Ad.I compared.to pigs fed.low protein rice bran. In conclusion, rice bran quality as measured.by protein, crud. fiber, and.fat influenced.growing pig performance, while the type of d.etary protein supplement d.d.not. Ad.itionally, rice bran with high protein, fat, and.low fiber improved.Ad. and.F/G.

We report the charge-changing cross sections(σ_(cc))of 24 p-shell nuclid.s on both hyd.ogen and.carbon at about 900A MeV,of which^(8,9)Li,^(10–12)Be,^(10,14,15)B,^(14,15,17–22)N and.(16)O on hyd.ogen and.(8,9)Li on carbon are for the first *** from the d.ta set,we found.a new and.robust relationship between the scaling factor of the Glauber mod.l calculations and.the separation energies of the nuclei of interest on both *** allows us to d.d.ce proton rad.i(R_p)for the first time from the cross sections on *** id.ntical R_p values are d.d.ced.from both target d.ta for the neutron-rich carbon isotopes;however,the R_p from the hyd.ogen target is systematically smaller in the neutron-rich nitrogen *** calls for further experimental and.theoretical investigations.

AIM:To investigate the therapeutic effect of Schistosoma mansoni(***) soluble worm proteins on gastrointestinal motility d.sturbances d.ring experimental colitis in mice. RESULTS:Intracolonic injection of TNBS caused.severe *** with *** proteins significantly ameliorated.colonic inflammation after 5 *** d.d.not affect gastric emptying but significantly d.creased.the geometric center and.impaired.colonic peristaltic activity 5 d.after the ind.ction of *** with *** proteins ameliorated.these in vivo and.in vitro motility *** ad.ition,TNBS injection caused.a d.wnregulation of effector T cell cytokines after 5 d.whereas a *** protein effect was no longer observed.at this time point. CONCLUSION:Treatment with *** proteins attenuated.intestinal inflammation and.ameliorated.motility d.sturbances d.ring murine experimental colitis.

The aim of the stud. was to assess the effect of praziquantel (PZQ) treatment on hematuria, proteinuria and.the status of eGFR following treatment in school child.en infected.with S. mansoni. A cohort stud. among 6 - 13 years old.child.en was cond.cted.in the Lake Zone region of Tanzania to assess S. mansoni infection using a circulating cathod.c antigen (CCA), Kato Kartz while urine d.pstick to screen for urine protein levels and.red.blood.cells. A blood.sample was taken for every child.to d.termine creatinine levels and.later a status of estimated.glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). The prevalence of S. mansoni infection was 64%, 46%, and.24% at baseline, 6 months, and.1 year respectively using CCA test. There was a 62.5% red.ction in S. mansoni infection from baseline (p S. mansoni using CCA test, red.ctions in proteinuria, and.hematuria in school child.en in Tanzania. There was complete remission in eGFR 2 from 3.9% to 0% at 6 months. This suggests that praziquantel is effective, but there is still a need.for integrated.strategies to minimize reinfections.

Antimicrobial Activity of Minocycline-Load.d.Genipin-Crosslinked.Nano-Fibrous Chitosan Mats for Guid.d.Tissue Regeneration

Antimicrobial d.livery has been ad.ocated.for guid.d.tissue regeneration (GTR) or guid.d.bone regeneration (GBR) therapies involving patients with aggressive or unresolved.period.ntitis/peri-implantitis. Electrospun chitosan membranes d.monstrate several ad.antages over trad.tional GTR barrier membranes because they stimulate healing, mimic the topology of the extracellular matrix, and.allow for d.ffusion of nutrients and.wastes into/out of the graft site, and.were shown to stimulate bone formation in a rabbit calvarial criticalsize d.fect mod.l. Previously, we have shown improvements in mechanical properties and.d.grad.tion kinetics by crosslinking electrospun membranes with 5 mM or 10 mM genipin. We have also d.monstrated.the ability of elecrospun chitosan membranes to inhibit lippopolysaccharid. (LPS)-ind.ced.monocyte activation. In this stud., minocycline was incorporated.into the chitosan membrane by passive absorption at 5 or 10 mg/mL. The minocycline-load.d.membranes and.control membranes (carrier only) were tested.against Porphyromonas gingivalis (P. gingivalis) by repeated.zone of inhibition (ZOI) measurements. Testing showed.that uncrosslinked.and.genipin-crosslinked.membranes have similar capacity to absorb aqueous solutions (swelling ratio 1.7 - 2.2). Minocycline load.ng resulted.in bacterial inhibition for up to 8 d.ys from crosslinked.membranes (with 11 mm initial ZOI) whereas uncrosslinked.membranes load.d.with minocycline only inhibited.bacteria for 4 d.ys (with 8 mm initial ZOI). These in vitro results suggest that genipin-crosslinked.electrospun chitosan membranes load.d.with minocycline may be able to red.ce early bacterial contamination of GTR graft sites.
