The association of diet quality and physical activity with cardiovascular disease and mortality in 85,545 older Australians:A longitudinal study

Background:A quality diet and an active lifestyle are both important cornerstones of cardiovascular disease(CVD)***,despite their interlinked effects on metabolic health,the 2 behaviors are rarely considered jointly,particularly within the context of CVD *** examined the independent,interactive,and joint associations of diet and physical activity with CVD hospitalization,CVD mortality,and all-cause ***:CVD-free Australian participants aged 4574 years(n=85,545)reported physical activity,diet,sociodemographic,and lifestyle characteristics at baseline(20062009)and follow-up(20122015),and data were linked to hospitalization and death registries(03/31/2019 for CVD hospitalization and all-cause mortality and 12/08/2017 for CVD mortality).Diet quality was categorized as low,medium,and high based on meeting dietary *** activity was operationalized as(a)total moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA)as per guidelines,and(b)the composition of MVPA as the ratio of vigorous-intensity physical activity(VPA)to total *** used a left-truncated cause-specific Cox proportional hazards model using time-varying ***:During a median of 10.7 years of follow-up,6576 participants were admitted to the hospital for CVD and 6581 died from all causes(876 from CVD during 9.3 years).A high-quality diet was associated with a 17%lower risk of all-cause mortality than a low-quality diet,and the highest MVPA category(compared with the lowest)was associated with a 44%and 48%lower risk of CVD and all-cause mortality,*** interactions between diet and physical activity were *** all outcomes,the lowest risk combinations involved a high-quality diet and the highest MVPA *** for total MVPA,some VPA was associated with further risk reduction of CVD hospitalization and all-cause ***:For CVD prevention and longevity,one should adhere to both a healthy d

Demographic Processes Linked to Genetic Diversity and Positive Selection across a Species’ Range

Demography determines the strength of genetic drift,which generally reduces genetic variation and the efficacy of ***,we disentangled the importance of demographic processes at a local scale(census size and mating system)and at a species-range scale(old split between population clusters,recolonization after the last glaciation cycle,and admixture)in determining within-population genomic diversity and genomic signatures of positive *** were based on re-sequence data from 52 populations of North American Arabidopsis lyrata collected across its entire *** mating system and range dynamics since the last glaciation cycle explained around 60%of the variation in genomic diversity among populations and 52%of the variation in the signature of positive *** was lowest in selfing compared with outcrossing populations and in areas further away from glacial *** parallel,reduced positive selectionwas found in selfing populations and in populations with a longer route of postglacial range *** signature of positive selection was also reduced in populations without *** conclude that recent range expansion can have a profound influence on diversity in coding and non-coding DNA,similar in magnitude to the shift toward *** limits may in fact be caused by reduced effective population size and compromised positive selection in recently colonized parts of the range.

Geologic data collection and assessment techniques in coal mining for ground control

The identification and mitigation of adverse geologic conditions are critical to the safety and productivity of underground coal mining *** anticipate and mitigate adverse geologic conditions,a formal method to evaluate geotechnical factors must be *** mine is unique and has its own separate approach for defining what an adverse geological condition consists *** collection of geologic data is a first critical step to creating a geological database to map these hazards efficiently and *** considerations must be taken into account,such as lithology of immediate roof and floor strata,seam height,gas and oil wells,faults,depressions in the mine floor(water)and increases in floor elevation(gas),overburden,streams and horizontal stress directions,amongst many other *** geologic data is collected,it can be refined and integrated into a database that can be used to develop maps showing the trend,orientation,and extent of the adverse geological *** information,delivered in a timely manner,allows mining personnel to be proactive in mine planning and support implementations,ultimately reducing the impacts of these *** paper covers geologic exploratory methods,data organization,and the value of collecting and interpreting geologic information in coal mines to enhance safety and *** implementation of the methods described above has been proven effective in predicting and mitigating adverse geologic conditions in underground coal *** re-evaluation of data collection methods,geologic interpretations,mapping procedures,and communication techniques ensures continuous improvement in the accuracy of predictions and mitigation of adverse geologic *** a concise record of the work previously done to track geologic conditions at a mine will allow for the smoothest transition during employee turnover and *** refinements and standardization of data collection methods,

Evaluation of seismic potential in a longwall mine with massive sandstone roof under deep overburden

A recent seismic event was recorded by a deep longwall mine in Virginia at 3.7 ML on the local magnitude scale and 3.4 MMS by the United States Geological Survey(USGS) in *** investigations by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health(NIOSH) and Coronado Coal researchers have shown that this event was associated with geological features that have also been associated with other, similar seismic events in *** mapping and geological exploration in the mining area has made it possible to forecast possible locations for future seismic *** order to use the geology as a forecaster of mining-induced seismic events and their energy potential, two primary components are *** first component is a long history of recorded seismic events with accurately plotted *** second component is a high density of geologic data within the mining *** this case, 181 events of 1.0 MLor greater were recorded by the mine's seismic network between January, 2009, and October, *** the mining area, 897 geophysical logs, 224 core holes, and 1031 fiberscope holes were examined by mine *** this information, it was found that overburden thickness, sandstone thickness, and sandstone quality contributed greatly to seismic *** the data was analyzed, a pattern became apparent indicating that the majority of seismic events occurred under specific *** forecast maps were created based on geology of previous seismic *** forecast maps have shown an accuracy of within 74%–89% when compared to the recorded 181 events that were1.0 MLor greater when considering three major geological criteria of overburden thickness of 579.12 m or greater, 6.096–12.192 m of sandstone within 15.24 m of the Pocahontas number 3 seam, and a longwall caving height of 4.572 m or less.

Application of the coal mine floor rating(CMFR)to assess the floor stability in a Central Appalachian Coal Mine

Estimating the overall floor stability in a coal mine using deterministic methods which require complex engineering properties of floor strata is desirable,but generally it is impractical due to the difficulty of gathering essential input ***,applying a quantitative methodology to describe floor quality with a single number provides a practical estimate for preliminary assessment of floor *** coal mine floor rating(CMFR)system,developed by the University of New South Wales(UNSW),is a rockmass classification system that provides an indicator for the competence of floor *** most significant components of the CMFR are uniaxial compressive strength and discontinuity intensity of floor *** addition to the competence of the floor,depth of cover and stress notch angle are input parameters used to assess the preliminary floor *** this study,CMFR methodology was applied to a Central Appalachian Coal Mine that intermittently experienced floor *** drill core data,overburden maps,and mine plans were utilized for the ***,qualitative data(failure/non-failure)on floor conditions of the mine entries near the core holes was collected and analyzed so that the floor quality and its relation to entry stability could be estimated by statistical *** was found that the current CMFR classification system is not directly applicable in assessing the floor stability of the Central Appalachian Coal *** order to extend the applicability of the CMFR classification system,the methodology was modified.A calculation procedure of one of the CMFR classification system’s components,the horizontal stress rating(HSR),was changed and new parameters were added to the HSR.

In the absence of a central naming authority on the Semantic Web,it is common for different data sets to refer to the same thing by different *** multiple names are used to denote the same thing,owl:sameAs statements are needed in order to link the data and foster *** that date back as far as 2009,observed that the owl:sameAs property is sometimes used *** our previous work,we presented an identity graph containing over 500 million explicit and 35 billion implied owl:sameAs statements,and presented a scalable approach for automatically calculating an error degree for each identity *** this paper,we generate subgraphs of the overall identity graph that correspond to certain error *** show that even though the Semantic Web contains many erroneous owl:sameAs statements,it is still possible to use Semantic Web data while at the same time minimising the adverse effects of misusing owl:sameAs.

氩激光小梁成形术对小梁网的确切作用,尚未完全明了。业经大量资料证实,其降压效果系通过改善房水外流。从临床上看,该效应似与激光的特性(包括:波形、波长、烧灼部位、治疗时间,甚至在一定程度上还包括激光的能量)均不具特异性。其降压反应延迟发生,随时间减弱,有些病例可因再次治疗而重新获得降压效果。激光光凝对小梁网在聚焦焦点上产生破坏,但漫射则可兴奋小梁网细胞。激光治疗后小梁网形状改变,只有在眼压很高时才可能有助于房水外流。很可能细胞兴奋激活某种分子生物链变化,或许在小梁细胞外间质,从而改善房水外流易度。
