Traumatic injury to the.CNS re.ults in a rapid and, in some.case., sustaine. loss of mitochondrial function. One.conse.ue.ce.of compromise. mitochondrial function is induction of the.mitochondrial pe.me.bility transition （mPT） state.due.to formation of the.cyclosporine.A se.sitive.pe.me.bility transition pore.（mPTP）. Me.hods: This is an obse.vational study of 4392 nonsmoking, wome. who unde.we.t ge.e.al ane.the.ia for bre.st surge.y from 1/1/2009 through 6/30/2012. Pre.ious history of PONV or motion sickne.s (HxPONV/MS) and the.use.of PACU opioids we.e.re.orde.. Prophylactic antie.e.ic the.apy was le.t to the.discre.ion of the.ane.the.ia care.te.m. We.compare. phe.othiazine. and 5HT3 antagonists alone.and with a glucocorticoid to de.e.mine.the.most e.fe.tive.tre.tme.t re.ime. in our practice.for the.pre.e.tion of the.administration of PACU re.cue.antie.e.ics. re.ults: Patie.ts who re.e.ve. a phe.othiazine.re.ime. compare. to a 5HT3 antagonist re.ime. we.e.le.s like.y to have.an antie.e.ic administe.e. in the.PACU (p = 0.0100) and this significant diffe.e.ce.in rate. holds in a logistic re.re.sion mode. adjuste. for HxPONV/MS and PACU Opioid use.(p = 0.0103). Conclusions: Base. on our findings our clinicians are.e.courage. to administe. a combination of a phe.othiazine.and a glucocorticoid in fe.ale. nonsmoking surgical bre.st patie.ts for the.pre.e.tion of PACU re.cue.antie.e.ic administration.
