For patients with chronic spinal cord injury,the co nventional treatment is rehabilitation and treatment of spinal cord injury complications such as urinary tract infection,pressure sores,osteoporosis,and deep vein *** is rarely perfo rmed on spinal co rd injury in the chronic phase,and few treatments have been proven effective in chronic spinal cord injury *** of effective therapies fo r chronic spinal co rd injury patients is *** conducted a randomized controlled clinical trial in patients with chronic complete thoracic spinal co rd injury to compare intensive rehabilitation(weight-bearing walking training)alone with surgical intervention plus intensive *** clinical trial was registered at ***(NCT02663310).The goal of surgical intervention was spinal cord detethering,restoration of cerebrospinal fluid flow,and elimination of residual spinal cord *** found that surgical intervention plus weight-bearing walking training was associated with a higher incidence of American Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale improvement,reduced spasticity,and more rapid bowel and bladder functional recovery than weight-bearing walking training ***,the surgical procedures and intensive rehabilitation were *** Spinal Injury Association Impairment Scale improvement was more common in T7-T11 injuries than in T2-T6 *** combined with rehabilitation appears to have a role in treatment of chronic spinal cord injury patients.

e dible bird’s nest(eBN)hydrolysates have been proven to exhibit enhanced ***,being a macromolecule,fractions with different molecular weights would have different properties and ***,this research was aimed to determine the chemical properties and antioxidant activities of freezedried(eBN_(FD))and spray-dried eBN(eBN_(SD))hydrolysates fractionated using gel permeation chromatography(GPC).Overall,two well-separated fractions were identified(eBN_(fFD1),eBN_(fFD2),eBN_(fSD1) and eBN_(fSD2)).eBNFD demonstrated significantly higher(P≤0.05)peptide(3.6%),total carbohydrate(27.7%)and sialic acid(18.2%)contents than that of *** trend was observed in low molecular weight fractionates(eBN_(fFD2) and eBN_(fSD2)).Meanwhile,the first fractionates(eBN_(fFD1) and eBN_(fSD1))exhibited significantly higher(P≤0.05)hydroxyl radical(·OH)scavenging *** transform infrared(FTIR)spectroscopy demonstrated that all eBN fractionates have similar spectrum,except in the region of N—H(amideⅡ)and C—H alkyl *** conclusion,eBN fractionates with different molecular weights showed different chemical properties and antioxidant activities.

Targeting the mitochondrial permeability transition pore in traumatic central nervous system injury

The mitochondrion serves many functions in the central nervous system （CNS） and other organs beyond the well-recognized role of adenosine triphosphate （ATP） production. This includes calcium-dependent cell signaling, regulation of gene expression, synthesis and release of cytotoxic reactive oxygen species, and the release of cytochrome c and other apoptotic cell death factors. Traumatic injury to the CNS results in a rapid and, in some cases, sustained loss of mitochondrial function. One consequence of compromised mitochondrial function is induction of the mitochondrial permeability transition （mPT） state due to formation of the cyclosporine A sensitive permeability transition pore （mPTP）. In this mini-review, we summarize evidence supporting the involvement of the mPTP as a mediator of mitochondrial and cellular demise following CNS traumatic injury and discuss the beneficial effects and limitations of the current ex- perimental strategies targeting the mPTP.

Antioxidant effect of Herbs and Spices on Copper Mediated Oxidation of Lower and Very Low Density Lipoprotein

AIM:The present study investigates the antioxidant effect of two extracts(hydrolyzed and non-hydrolyzed)of five herbs and eight spices in the prevention of LDL+VLDL oxidation promoted by cupric ***:The polyphenolic concentrations of these extracts were measured using Folin-Ciocalteu *** antioxidant quality was analyzed by the determination of lag-time,concentration of polyphenol that will inhibit 50%of oxidation of LDL+VLDL(IC50)and phenol antioxidant index(PAOXI). ReSULTS:The hydrolyzed extracts had significant higher polyphenol concentration,longer lag-time,lower IC50 and higher PAOXI than the non-hydrolyzed extracts(Ped extract contains better quantity and quality polyphenolic antioxidant than the non-hydrolyzed *** hydrolyzed and non-hydrolyzed extracts were better antioxidants than Vitamin e in the inhibition of LDL+VLDL ***:The reaction rate and concentration of conjugated diene formed suggested that all the extracts had similar reaction mechanism in the prevention of copper mediated LDL+VLDL oxidation.

Decentralized Fault Diagnosis of Large-scale Processes Using Multiblock Kernel Principal Component Analysis

In this paper,a multiblock kernel principal component analysis(MBKPCA)algorithm is proposed. Based on MBKPCA,a new fault detection and diagnosis approach is proposed to monitor large-scale processes. In particular, definitions of nonlinear block contributions to T~2 and the squared prediction error(SP e)statistics are first proposed in order to diagnose nonlinear faults. In addition, the relative contribution, which is the ratio of the contribution to the corresponding upper control limit,is considered to find process variables or blocks responsible for faults. The proposed method is applied to fault detection and diagnosis in the Tennessee eastman process. The proposed decentralized nonlinear approach effectively captures the nonlinear relationship in the block process variables and shows superior fault diagnosis ability compared with other methods
