to report an extended multivisceral transplantation （MVtx） including right kidney and ascending colon in a patient with complicated Crohn＇s disease （CD）. A 36-year old female suffering from short bowel syndrome and frozen abdomen due to fistulizing CD after multiple abdominal operations underwent MVtx of eight organs including stomach, pancreatoduodenal complex, liver, intestine, ascending colon, right kidney, right adrenal gland, and greater omentum in November 2003. Immunosuppression consisted of alemtuzumab, tacrolimus and steroids. the patient was off parenteral nutrition by postoperative wk 3. She experienced one episode of pneumonia. the patient recovered completely and discharged 2.5 mo and was doing well 30 mo after MVtx. this is one of the very rare cases in which a complete mulitivisceral graft of eight abdominal organs was transplanted orthotopically.

Background: According to current taxonomy only three out of 27 Sinohimalayan leaf warbler species(Phylloscopidae) are considered genetically uniform across their entire breeding range along the Southeastern margin of the Qinghai-tibetan Plateau, the Buff-barred Warbler(Phylloscopus pulcher) being one of them. Because marked differentiation among Himalayan and Chinese populations has been recently demonstrated for a number of Phylloscopus species(or sister species) we investigated the intraspecific variation of a mitochondrial gene, songs and morphology of P. pulcher in a phylogeographic ***: We sequenced a fragment of the mitochondrial cytochrome b, reconstructed haplotype networks and analyzed DNA polymorphism among Himalayan and Chinese populations. We measured time and frequency parameters of two distinct song types and analyzed among population-differentiation in a principal component analysis and a discriminant analysis. We also compared measurements of body size dimensions taken from museum ***: the mitochondrial haplotype network(cytb) was divided into two distinct clusters corresponding to geographic origin of samples. Pairwise genetic distances among Himalayan and Chinese mt DNA lineages account for 1.3% which coincides with Pleistocene lineage separation at roughly 650,000 years ago. Genetic diversity is slightly higher in the Chinese part of the species' range with respect to haplotype and nucleotide diversity while the less diversified Himalayan population lineage shows signs of recent range expansion. the vocal repertoire of P. pulcher comprises two distinct verse types that are combined with short interspersed click notes to long continuous song displays. trill verse types showed significant differences among regions in almost all measured frequency and time parameters: Chinese males displayed more rapid and more broad-banded trills at a lower pitch. In contrast,warbling verse types showed a distinctively different structure

Peptide amphiphiles with well-organized secondary structure are an important family of molecules that are known to assemble into a variety of *** this work,we present three guanidiniocarbonylpyrrole(GCP)containing peptide amphiphiles,which show versatile morphology and secondary structure changes as a result of different chain lengths and in different concentration *** random coil conformation,α-helix,andβ-sheet are obtained for peptide 1,peptide 2,and peptide 3,respectively under neutral aqueous ***,all peptide amphiphiles can aggregate to form nanoparticles at low ***,at high concentrations,peptide 1 selfassembles into left-ha nded twisted helical fibers,while longer bamboo-like mo rphology can be obse rved exclusively for peptide *** peptide 3,freshly prepared samples show uniform spherical morphology,whereas an obvious morphological transition from original nanoparticles to disordered fibers was realized after incubating for one *** fascinating morphology changes were determined by the combination of circular dichroism,dynamic light scattering,transmission electron microscopy,atomic force microscopy,and theoretical calculations.

Soybean cyst nematode(SCN,Heterodera glycines Ichinohe)is one of the most economically destructive *** soybean line Zhongpin03-5373(ZP),which combines resistance genes from several donors,is highly resistant to SCN race 3(SCN3).In our previous study,two QtL(rhg1 and GmSNAP11)were identified in a population of recombinant inbred lines derived from a cross between ZP and the susceptible parent Zhonghuang *** two QtL explained around one-third of the resistance,suggesting the presence of further QtL contributing to SCN *** the present study,we used an improved version of the geneticmap comprising the previously applied 1062 molecular markers and 47 newly developed InDel(insertion-deletion)*** improved map revealed a novel locus contributing to SCN3 resistance:qSCN3-1,flanked by InDelmarker InDel1-7 and SNPmarker Map-0047,explained 4.55%of the phenotypic variance for resistance to SCN3 and was not involved in digenic epistatic interaction with rhg1 and *** of Map-0047_CAPS(a CAPS marker developed for Map-0047)and InDel1-7 were significantly associated with SCN3 resistance in a panel of 209 resistant and susceptible *** further allele-combination analysis for three functional markers representing three cloned resistance genes(rhg1,Rhg4,andGmSNAP11)and twomarkers flanking qSCN3-1,we found that adding the resistance allele of qSCN3-1 greatly increased soybean resistance to SCN,even in diverse genetic *** qSCN3-1 locus will be useful for marker-assisted polygene pyramid breeding and should be targeted for the future identification of candidate genes.

Concentrations of a number of organophosphate flame retardants(PFRs)were measured in floor dust collected from living rooms in Australia(n=42),Canada(n=14),Germany(n=22),and Kazakhstan(n=9);cars from Australia(n=39)and Germany(n=19);and offices from Germany(n=25)and Kazahkstan(n=8).PFR concentrations in these samples were compared with each other and with previously reported data for PFRs in dust from similar microenvironments in the *** data reveal significant between-country differences in both absolute concentrations and the relative abundance of specific PFRs in each of the microenvironments *** notably,concentrations of tCIPP in UK living room dust(median=21 μg g^-1)exceeded significantly(pthose in all other countries studied here;a substantial number of car dust samples contained elevated concentrations of tDCIPP,and German samples generally contained lower levels of PFRs in all microenvironments *** addition,PFRs were determined in dust samples collected from living room couches in both Australia(n=41)and the UK(n=10).the elevated concentrations of tCIPP in UK living room dust are likely attributable to the favoured use of this PFR in UK couch *** is indicated by concentrations of tCIPP in UK couch dust(median=610 μg g^-1)exceeding significantly those in Australian couch dust(median=2.9 μg g^-1).Moreover,concentrations of tCIPP in UK couch dust originating from couches 15 years old or less,display a marked relationship with the age of the couch,with concentrations in such samples increasing significantly(pth couch age.

Power systems transport an increasing amount of electricity,and in the future,involve more distributed renewables and dynamic interactions of the *** system response to disturbances must be secure and predictable to avoid power *** system response can be simulated in the time ***,this dynamic security assessment(DSA)is not computationally tractable in *** promising is to train decision trees(Dts)from machine learning as interpretable classifiers to predict whether the systemwide responses to disturbances are *** most research,selecting the best Dt model focuses on predictive ***,it is insufficient to focus solely on predictive *** alarms and false alarms have drastically different costs,and as security assessment is a critical task,interpretability is crucial for *** this work,the multiple objectives of interpretability,varying costs,and accuracies are considered for Dt model *** propose a rigorous workflow to select the best *** addition,we present two graphical approaches for visual inspection to illustrate the selection sensitivity to probability and impacts of *** propose cost curves to inspect selection combining all three objectives for the first *** studies on the IEEE 68 bus system and the French system show that the proposed approach allows for better Dt-selections,with an 80%increase in interpretability,5%reduction in expected operating cost,while making almost zero accuracy *** proposed approach scales well with larger systems and can be used for models beyond ***,this work provides insights into criteria for model selection in a promising application for methods from artificial intelligence(AI).
