Ferroptosis,a unique modality of cell death with mechanistic and morphological differences from other cell death modes,plays a pivotal role in regulating tumorigenesis and offers a new opportunity for modulating anticancer drug *** epigenetic modifications and posttranslational modifications(PTMs)promote anticancer drug resistance,cancer progression,and *** studies indicate that epigenetic modifications can transcriptionally and translationally determine cancer cell vulnerability to ferroptosis and that ferroptosis functions as a driver in nervous system diseases(NsDs),cardiovascular diseases(CVDs),liver diseases,lung diseases,and kidney *** this review,we first summarize the core molecular mechanisms of ***,the roles of epigenetic processes,including histone PTMs,DNA methylation,and noncoding RNA regulation and PTMs,such as phosphorylation,ubiquitination,sUMOylation,acetylation,methylation,and ADP-ribosylation,are concisely *** roles of epigenetic modifications and PTMs in ferroptosis regulation in the genesis of diseases,including cancers,NsD,CVDs,liver diseases,lung diseases,and kidney diseases,as well as the application of epigenetic and PTM modulators in the therapy of these diseases,are then discussed in *** the mechanisms of ferroptosis regulation mediated by epigenetic modifications and PTMs in cancer and other diseases will facilitate the development of promising combination therapeutic regimens containing epigenetic or PTM-targeting agents and ferroptosis inducers that can be used to overcome chemotherapeutic resistance in cancer and could be used to prevent other *** addition,these mechanisms highlight potential therapeutic approaches to overcome chemoresistance in cancer or halt the genesis of other diseases.

Pulmonary infection control window in treatment of severe respiratory failure of chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases: a prospective, randomized controlled, multi-centred study

Background Early withdraw from invasive mechanical ventilation （MV） followed by noninvasive MV is a new strategy for changing modes of treatment. This study was conducted to estimate the feasibility and the efficacy of early extubation and sequential noninvasive MV commenced at beginning of pulmonary infection control window in patients with exacerbated hypercapnic respiratory failure caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases （ C OPD ）. Methods A prospective, randomized controlled study was conducted in eleven teaching hospitals＇ respiratory or medical intensive care units in China. Ninety intubated COPD patients with severe hypercapnic respiratory failure triggered by pulmonary infection （pneumonia or purulent bronchitis） were involved in the study. When the pulmonary infection had been controlled by antibiotics and comprehensive therapy, the “pulmonary infection control window （PIC window）” has been reached. Each case was randomly assigned to study group （extubation and noninvasive MV via facial mask immediately） or control group （ invasive MV was received continuously after PIC window by using conventional weaning technique）. Results study group （n = 47 ） and control group （n = 43 ） had similar clinical characteristics initially and at the time of PIC window. Compared with control group, study group had shorter duration of invasive MV [ （6. 4±4. 4） days vs （ 11.3±6. 2） days, P =0. 0001, lower rate of ventilator associated pneumonia （VAP）（3/47 vs 12/43, P=0.014）, fewer days in ICU [（12 ＋8） days vs 16 ＋ 11） days, P =0.047] and lower hospital mortality （ 1/47 vs 7/43, P =0. 025）. Conclusions In COPD patients requiring intubation and lnvasive MV for hypercapnic respiratory failure, which is exacerbated by pulmonary infection, early extubation followed by noninvasive MV initiated at the start of PIC window may decrease significantly the duration of invasive MV, the risk of VAP and hospital mortality.

AIM: To evaluate the hepatic dysfunction in leptospirosis is usually mild and resolved eventually. However,sequential follow-up of liver biochemical data remained lacking..METHODs: The biochemistry data and clinical symptoms of 11 sporadic patients were collected and analyzed, focusing on the impacts of leptospirosis upon liver biochemistry ***: The results disclosed that of the 11 cases, 5 or 45% died. The liver biochemistry data in the beginning of the disease course were only mildly ***, late exaggerated aspartate transaminase (AsT)elevations were noted in three cases who finally died when compared with the typical course. Besides, significant higher AsT/alanine transaminase (ALT) ratios (AARs) of the peak levels for transaminase were also noted in the cases who eventually succumbed. The mean±sD of AARs for the survival group and dead group were 5.65±2.27 (n = 5)and 1.86±0.64 (n = 6) respectively (P= 0.006). The ratios of the cases who finally died were all more than ***, the survival group's ratios were less than ***: serial follow-up of transaminase might provide evidence to predict some rare evolutions in leptospirosis. If AsT elevated progressively without a concomitant change of ALT, it might indicate an acute disease course with ensuing death. Additionally, AAR is another prognostic parameter for leptospirosis. Once the value was higher than 3.0, a grave prognosis is inevitable.

目的分析非静脉曲张性上消化道出血患者治疗中奥美拉唑、思他宁单独与联合应用取得的效果。方法方便选取医院2016年1月—2017年1月收治的非静脉曲张性上消化道出血患者96例,随机分为3组各32例,分别给予奥美拉唑、思他宁与联合用药治疗方法,对3组患者治疗效果观察。结果奥美拉唑组、思他宁组患者治疗有效率分别为81.25%(26/32)、78.13%(25/32),比较差异无统计学意义。联合用药组治疗有效率96.88%(31/32),与另外两组比较差异有统计学意义(P0.05),12 h p H值(5.82±1.60)、24 h p H值(6.76±1.35)联合用药组高于其他两组,止血时间少于另外两组,比较差异有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论非静脉曲张性上消化道出血患者治疗中,奥美拉唑与思他宁联合用药下可取得显著治疗效果,应在临床实践中推广应用。

An Orbital Period study of the Contact Binary CK Bootis

Various times of light minima of the contact binary CK Boo are compiled and the correspnoding O C curve is analyzed with Kalimeris at al.’s method (1994). It is shown that the orbital period varies in a quasi sinusoidal form with a period of about 14 years and an amplitude of 0.26 × 10 -5 days while it undergoes a secular period increase dP/dE =+4 97 × 10 -7 days/year. The mechanisms that could explain the chang.s.in the orbital period are also discussed.

AIM:To investigate the role of nuclear factor of activated T cell 2(NFAT2),the major NFAT protein in peripheral T cells,in sustained T cell activation and intractable inflammation in human ulcerative colitis(UC). METHODs:We used two-dimensional gel-electrophoresis, immunohistochemistry,double immunohistochemical staining,and confocal microscopy to inspect the expression of NFAT2 in 107,15,48 and 5 cases of UC, Crohn's disease(CD),non-specific colitis,and 5 healthy individuals,respectively. REsULTs:Up-regulation with profound nucleo- translocation/activation of NFAT2 of lamina propria mononuclear cells(LPMC)of colonic mucosa was found specifically in the affected colonic mucosa from patients with UC,as compared to CD or NC(Pskal- Wallis test).Nucleo-translocation/activation of NFAT2 primarily occurred in CD8+T,but was less prominent in CD4+T cells or CD20+B *** was strongly associated with the disease activity,including endoscopic stage (τ=0.2145,P=0.0281)and histologic grade(τ=0.4167, PsION:We disclose for the first time the nucleo-translocation/activatin of NFAT2 in lamina propria mononuclear cells in ulcerative *** of NFAT2 was specific for ulcerative colitis and highly associated with disease *** activation of NFAT2is implicated in an auto-regulatory positive feedback loop of sustained T-cell activation and NFAT proteins play key roles in the calcium/calcineurin signaling pathways,our results not only provide new insights into the mechanism for sustained intractable inflammation,but also sugg.s. the calcium-calcineurin/NFAT pathway as a new therapeutic target for ulcerative colitis.

Baryon-Baryon interactions from lattice QCD

We report on new attempt to investigate baryon-baryon interactions in lattice *** the Bethe-salpeter （Bs） wave function,we have successfully extracted the nucleon-nucleon （NN） potentials in quenched QCD simulations,which reproduce qualitative features of modern NN *** method has been extended to obtain the tensor potential as well as the central potential and also applied to the hyperonnucleon （yn） interactions,in both quenched and full QCD.
