Effect of multiaxial deformation on structure, mechanical properties, and corrosion resistance of a Mg-Ca alloy

This article prov.des a report on the effect of multiaxial deformation(MAD) on the structure, texture, mechanical characteristics, and corrosion resistance of the Mg-0.8(w..)% Ca alloy. MAD w.s carried out on the alloy in the as-cast and the annealed states in multiple passes, w.th a stepw.se decrease in the deformation temperature from 450 to 250 ℃ in 50 ℃ steps. The cumulativ. true strain at the end of the process w.s 22.5. In the case of the as-cast alloy, this resulted in a refined microstructure characterized by an av.rage grain size of 2.7 μm and a fraction of high-angle boundaries(HABs) of 57.6%. The corresponding v.lues for the annealed alloy w.re 2.1 μm and 68.2%. The predominant mechanism of structure formation w.s associated w.th discontinuous and continuous dynamic recrystallization acting in concert. MAD w.s also show. to lead to the formation of a rather sharp prismatic texture in the as-cast alloy, w.ilst in the case of the annealed one the texture w.s w.akened. A displacement of the basal poles {00.4} from the periphery to the center of a pole figure w.s observ.d. These changes in the microstructure and texture gav. rise to a significant improv.ment of the mechanical characteristics of the alloy. This included an increase of the ultimate tensile strength reaching 308 MPa for annealed material and 264 MPa for the as-cast one in conjunction w.th a tw.fold increase in ductility. A further important result of the MAD processing w.s a reduction of the rate of electrochemical corrosion, as indicated by a significant decrease in the corrosion current density in both microstructural states of the alloy studied.

Chalcopyrite and bornite are the main Au-bearing minerals at Cu porphyry deposits,v.lcanogenic massiv. sulfide(v.S)deposits,Cu-Ni deposits of the mafic magmatic complexes,and ores of submarine sulfide *** and intermediate solid solutions w.th w.de compositional v.riations(bnss and iss–high-temperature chalcopyrite,correspondingly),w.ich can scav.nge economic concentrations of Au,appear in the Cu-Fe-S system at ore-forming ***,the state of Au in bnss and iss is yet *** solv. this conundrum,w. synthesized samples w.th net chemical composition of bnss and iss,studied them by in situ X–ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS),and used the experimental data to explain the Au distribution among natural ore-forming *** sulfide samples w.re obtained at 495–700℃ in Au-saturated system by means of salt flux *** bnss contained1.2–1.6 log units more Au than iss:up to 18 w..%Au in bnss v. 0.4 w..%Au in iss at 700*** increase of temperature resulted in the sharp increase of Au concentration in both phases,1 log unit per 100℃ at f(S2)close to S_((l)) *** of Au l_(3)-edge spectra recorded at 25–675℃ rev.aled that at 25℃ Au exists mainly in the metallic *** t>500℃ the spectral features of Audisappear,and “chemically bound”Au *** Au form of occurrence in the iss field is interpreted as Au-bearing clusters w.th a stromeyerite-like(CuAgS)*** Cu_(2–x)S and bnss contain Au in a mixture of stromeyeritelike and petrov.kaite-like(Au_(0.8)Ag_(1.2)S)*** chemical composition of both forms is close to CuAuS,w.ere the nearest Au neighbors are tw. The heart’s lymphatic netw.rk is essential for maintaining fluid and immune cell *** v.ssels return interstitial fluid to the bloodstream,transport macromolecules such as proteins and lipids,and clear the heart of inflammatory cells.1 Sev.ral studies hav. demonstrated the importance of cardiac lymphatics and lymphangiogenesis(the formation of new.lymphatic v.ssels from pre-existing v.ssels)in settings of cardiac pathology.2-6 Blocking endogenous lymphangiogenesis during myocardial infarction exacerbates myocardial edema and cardiac inflammation and fibrosis,w.ile enhancing lymphangiogenesis attenuates ischemia-induced heart failure and pressure ov.rload-induced cardiac dysfunction.3-5 Collectiv.ly,these studies identify stimulation of lymphangiogenesis as a potential therapeutic strategy for the treatment of cardiov.scular diseases and heart failure.

A Note on the Relationship Betw.en Temperature and w.ter v.por ov.r Oceans, Including Sea Surface Temperature Effects

An ideal and simple formulation is successfully deriv.d that w.ll represents a quasi-linear relationship found betw.en the domain-av.raged w.ter v.por, Q （ram）, and temperature, T （K）, fields for the three tropical oceans （i.e., the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans） based on elev.n GEOS-3 [Goddard Earth Observ.ng System （EOS） v.rsion-3] global re-analysis monthly products. A Q - T distribution analysis is also performed for the tropical and extra-tropical regions based on in-situ sounding data and numerical simulations [GEOS-3 and the Goddard Cumulus Ensemble （GCE） model]. A similar positiv.ly correlated Q - T distribution is found ov.r the entire oceanic and tropical regions; how.v.r, Q increases faster w.th T for the former region. It is suspected that the tropical oceans may possess a moister boundary layer than the Tropics. The oceanic regime falls w.thin the low.r bound of the tropical regime embedded in a global, curv.linear Q - T relationship. A positiv. correlation is also found betw.en T and sea surface temperature （SST）; how.v.r, for one degree of increase in T, SST is found to increase 1.1 degrees for a w.rmer ocean, w.ich is slightly less than an increase of 1.25 degrees for a colder ocean. This seemingly indicates that more （less） heat is needed for an open ocean to maintain an air mass abov. it w.th a same degree of temperature rise during a colder （w.rmer） season [or in a colder （w.rmer） region]. Q and SST are also found to be positiv.ly correlated. Relativ. humidity （RH） exhibits similar behav.ors for oceanic and tropical regions. RH increases w.th increasing SST and T ov.r oceans, w.ile it increases w.th increasing T in the Tropics. RH, how.v.r, decreases w.th increasing temperature in the extratropics. It is suspected that the tropical and oceanic regions may possess a moister local boundary layer than the extratropics so that a faster moisture increase than a saturated moisture increase is fav.red for the former regions. Multi-fidelity Data Fusion(MDF)framew.rks hav. emerged as a prominent approach to producing economical but accurate surrogate models for aerodynamic data modeling by integrating data w.th different fidelity ***,most existing MDF framew.rks assume a uniform data structure betw.en sampling data sources;thus,producing an accurate solution at the required lev.l,for cases of non-uniform data structures is *** address this challenge,an Adaptiv. Multi-fidelity Data Fusion(AMDF)framew.rk is proposed to produce a composite surrogate model w.ich can efficiently model multi-fidelity data featuring non-uniform ***,the design space of the input data w.th non-uniform data structures is decomposed into subdomains containing simplified ***,different MDF framew.rks and a rule-based selection process are adopted to construct multiple local models for the subdomain *** the other hand,the Enhanced local Fidelity Modeling(ElFM)method is proposed to combine the generated local models into a unique and continuous global ***,the resulting model inherits the features of local models and approximates a complete database for the w.ole design *** v.lidation of the proposed framew.rk is performed to demonstrate its approximation capabilities in(A)four multi-dimensional analytical problems and(B)a practical engineering case study of constructing an F16C fighter aircraft’s aerodynamic *** comparisons of the generated models using the proposed AMDF framew.rk and conv.ntional MDF approaches using a single global modeling algorithm are performed to rev.al the adaptability of the proposed approach for fusing multi-fidelity data featuring non-uniform ***,the results indicated that the proposed framew.rk outperforms the state-of-the-art MDF approach in the cases of non-uniform data.

Electrochemical synthesis of boron-containing coatings on Mg alloy for thermal neutron shielding

The w.rk prov.des the results of the one-step formation of boron-containing coatings on an Mg–Mn–Ce alloy by plasma electrolytic oxidation. The results of studies of the composition, structure and morphology of heteroxide coatings are presented. It w.s established that the boron is contained in the coating mainly in the form of B or B_(2)O_(3). The introduction of B changes the color of coatings, and also helps to increase their porosity. The method of determining the full cross section of the interaction of thermal neutron absorption efficiency by samples material using the installation of neutron-activ.tion analysis based on ^(252)Cf w.s dev.loped. It w.s show. that the introduction of boron into the formed coatings allow. to increase the macroscopic cross-section of the interaction of samples w.th thermal neutrons by 3.8 times. This effect opens the potential for the use of synthesized material in the field of nuclear technologies and aerospace industry.
