Anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) have several adverse effects on the cardiovascular system that may lead to a sudden cardiac death (SCD).We herein report a case involving a 24-year-old male,AAS abuser with intramuscular delivery in the 6 months before,who suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest at home's bathtub when returning from new Year's party.A forensic autopsy was performed according to the guidelines of the Association for European Cardiovascular Pathology (AECVP).The body showed hypertrophy of skeletal musculature,with low amount of subcutaneous fat and no signs of injury (body mass index,BMh 26.8 kg/m^(2)).On internal examination,there were multiorgan congestion,acute pulmonary edema,and cardiomegaly (420 g) with severe coronary atherosclerosis and superimposed acute occlusive thrombosis at the left main trunk and left anterior *** of scarring were located at the intersection between the posterior wall and the posterior third of the septum (postero-septal).At histology,acute myocardial infarction at the anterior third of the septum and the anterior wall,and subacute myocardial infarction at apical septum and apical posterior wall were *** findings were small intramyocardial vessel disease and myocytes *** analysis in blood showed ethanol ((0.90 ±0.05) g/L),stanazolol (11.31 μg/L),nandrolone (2.05μg/L) and testosterone (n confronted with a sudden death in a young athlete we must pay attention to the physical phenotype that may suggest AAS abuse and perform a detailed examination of the *** analysis is a key to establish the relationship between SCD and AAS abuse.

Background:The nASA’s Global Ecosystem Dynamics Investigation(GEDI)satellite mission aims at scanning forest ecosystems on a multi-temporal short-rotation *** GEDI data can validate and update statistics from nationwide airborne laser scanning(ALS).We present a case in the northwest of Spain using GEDI statistics and nationwide ALS surveys to estimate forest dynamics in three fast-growing forest ecosystems comprising 211,346 *** objectives were:i)to analyze the potential of GEDI to detect disturbances,ii)to investigate uncertainty source regarding non-positive height increments from the 2015–2017 ALS data to the 2019 GEDI laser shots and iii)to estimate height growth using polygons from the Forest Map of Spain(FMS).A set of 258 national Forest Inventory plots were used to validate the observed height ***:The spatio-temporal assessment from ALS surveying to GEDI scanning allowed the large-scale detection of *** mean annual height growths were 0.79(SD=0.63),0.60(SD=0.42)and 0.94(SD=0.75)m for Pinus pinaster,Pinus radiata and Eucalyptus spp.,*** median annual values from the ALS-GEDI positive increments were close to nFI-based growth values computed for Pinus pinaster and Pinus radiata,*** effect of edge border,spatial co-registration of GEDI shots and the influence of forest cover in the observed dynamics were important factors to considering when processing ALS data and GEDI ***:The use of GEDI laser data provides valuable insights for forest industry operations especially when accounting for fast ***,errors derived from positioning,ground finder and canopy structure can introduce uncertainty to understand the detected growth patterns as documented in this *** analysis of forest growth using ALS and GEDI would benefit from the generalization of common rules and data processing schemes as the GEDI mission is increasingly being utilized in the forest remote sensing community.

The catalytic performance during the 1-butyne hydrogenation using two reduced Al_(2) O_(3)-supported Pdbased catalysts was carried out in a total recirculation system with an external fixed-bed *** lab-prepared egg-shell niPd/CeO_(2)-Al_(2) O_(3) catalyst(niPdCe) with Pd loading=0.5 wt%,ni/Pd atomic ratio=1 and CeO_(2) loading=3 wt% was synthesized and characterized,and it was compared with an egg-shell Al_(2) O_(3)-supported Pd based commercial catalyst(PdCC).The reduced catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction,X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,and high-resolution transmission electron *** textural characteristics and ammonia temperature-programmed desorption profiles of the fresh(unreduced) catalysts were also *** catalysts show high 1-butyne conversion and selectivity to 1-butene,but the catalysts also present important differences between hydroisomerizing and hydrogenating *** catalyst shows higher capability for hydroisomerization reactions,while the PdCC catalyst exhibits higher hydrogenating *** observed catalytic performances can be interesting for some industrial processes and can provide a guideline for the development of a Pd-based catalyst with specific catalytic properties.

Electrostatic precipitation is a process widely used as gas cleaning device,to removal particles from gas ***,in a conventional and well-sized precipitator,the collection efficiency decreases for ultrafine particles,making it difficult to employ this equipment for controlling nanoparticle *** paper investigates the influence of plate spacing(4 and 6.5 cm)and wire spacing(4,6,and 12 cm)on the electric current and nanoparticle collection efficiency,considering the effect of diffusion charging and electrostatic *** laboratory-scale dry wire-plate electrostatic precipitators with different plate spacings were tested for the collection of nanoparticles(6.15–241.4 nm)at three air velocities(1.9,2.9,and 3.9 cm/s).The results demonstrated the effectiveness of the equipment in removing nanoparticles(99.9%)under the highest electric *** values of the wire spacing led to increases in the current and the collection *** was associated with reduced electrostatic shielding,which is more evident in smaller ducts with a higher density of field *** is expected that the findings should improve knowledge on electrostatic precipitation of nanoparticles,enabling optimization of collection efficiency by considering the effects of geometric parameters.

Post-translational modifications （PTMs） chemically and physically alter the properties of proteins, including their folding, subcellular localization, stability, activity, and consequently their function. In spite of their relevance, studies on PTMs in plants are still limited. Small Ubiquitin-like Modifier （SUMO） modification regulates several biological processes by affecting protein-protein interactions, or changing the subcellular Iocalizations of the target proteins. Here, we describe a novel proteomic approach to identify SUMO targets that combines 2-D liquid chromatography, immunodetection, and mass spectrometry （MS） analyses. We have applied this approach to identify nuclear SUMO targets in response to heat shock. Using a bacterial SUMOylation system, we validated that some of the targets identified here are, in fact, labeled with SUMO1. Interestingly, we found that GIGAnTEA （GI）, a photoperiodic-pathway protein, is modified with SUMO in response to heat shock both in vitro and in vivo.

The daily practice of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in elderly patients has brought up the attention of outcome research and resource allocation. Determinants to predict survival have been well identified. There has been empirical evidence that CPR is of doubtful utility in the geriatric population, more studies have showed controversial data. Sometimes situations in which CPR needs to be given in the elderly, causes stress to healthcare providers, due to lack of communication of the patient’s wishes and the belief that it will not be successful. It is of importance to state that we have the duty to identify on time the patients that will most likely benefit from CPR, and find out the preferences of the same. Whenever it is possible to institute these guidelines, we will avoid patient suffering.
