This study introduces a method to predict the remaining useful life(RUL)of plain bearings operating under stationary,wear-critical *** this method,the transient wear data of a coupled elastohydrodynamic lubrication(mixed-EHL)and wear simulation approach is used to parametrize a statistical,linear degradation *** method incorporates Bayesian inference to update the linear degradation model throughout the runtime and thereby consider the transient,system-dependent wear progression within the RUL prediction.A case study is used to show the suitability of the proposed *** results show that the method can be applied to three distinct types of post-wearing-in behavior:wearing-in with subsequent hydrodynamic,stationary wear,and progressive wear *** hydrodynamic operation leads to an infinite lifetime,the method is successfully applied to predict RUL in cases with stationary and progressive wear.

To quantify the relative contributions of Arctic sea ice and unforced atmospheric internal variability to the “warm Arctic, cold East Asia”(WACE) teleconnection, this study analyses three sets of large-ensemble simulations carried out by the Norwegian Earth System Model with a coupled atmosphere–land surface model, forced by seasonal sea ice conditions from preindustrial, present-day, and future periods. Each ensemble member within the same set uses the same forcing but with small perturbations to the atmospheric initial state. hence, the difference between the present-day(or future) ensemble mean and the preindustrial ensemble mean provides the ice-loss-induced response, while the difference of the individual members within the present-day(or future) set is the effect of atmospheric internal variability. Results indicate that both present-day and future sea ice loss can force a negative phase of the Arctic Oscillation with a WACE pattern in winter. The magnitude of ice-induced Arctic warming is over four(ten) times larger than the ice-induced East Asian cooling in the present-day(future) experiment;the latter having a magnitude that is about 30% of the observed cooling. Sea ice loss contributes about 60%(80%) to the Arctic winter warming in the present-day(future) experiment. Atmospheric internal variability can also induce a WACE pattern with comparable magnitudes between the Arctic and East Asia. Ice-lossinduced East Asian cooling can easily be masked by atmospheric internal variability effects because random atmospheric internal variability may induce a larger magnitude warming. The observed WACE pattern occurs as a result of both Arctic sea ice loss and atmospheric internal variability, with the former dominating Arctic warming and the latter dominating East Asian cooling.

Potato cyst nematodes(PCNs)are a significant threat to potato production,having caused substantial damage in many *** the future distribution of PCN species is crucial to implementing effective biosecurity strategies,especially given the impact of climate change on pest species invasion and *** learning(ML),specifically ensemble models,has emerged as a powerful tool in predicting species distributions due to its ability to learn and make predictions based on complex data ***,this research utilised advanced machine learning techniques to predict the distribution of PCN species under climate change conditions,providing the initial element for invasion risk *** first used Global Climate Models to generate homogeneous climate predictors to mitigate the variation among ***,five machine learning models were employed to build two groups of ensembles,single-algorithm ensembles(ESA)and multi-algorithm ensembles(EMA),and compared their *** this research,the EMA did not always perform better than the ESA,and the ESA of Artificial Neural Network gave the highest performance while being *** results indicated that the distribution range of PCNs would shift northward with a decrease in tropical zones and an increase in northern ***,the total area of suitable regions will not change significantly,occupying 16-20%of the total land surface(18%under current conditions).This research alerts policymakers and practitioners to the risk of PCNs’incursion into new ***,this ML process offers the capability to track changes in the distribution of various species and provides scientifically grounded evidence for formulating long-term biosecurity plans for their control.

Within the framework of nonrelativistic-QCD factorization,we calculate both the next-to-leading-order relativistic and QCD corrections to prompt j/ψpair production,with feed-down fromψ(2S)mesons,via photon-photon collisions at future e^(+)e^(−)colliders,including the Future Circular Lepton Collider(FCC-ee),the Circular Electron Positron Collider(CEPC),and the Compact Linear Collider(CLIC).We present total cross sections and distributions in single j/ψtransverse momentum and rapidity,as well as in j/ψpair invariant *** relativistic and QCD corrections both turn out to be large and ***,the production rates are large enough for useful experimental studies.

The repair of large load-bearing bone defects requires superior mechanical strength, a feat that a single hydrogel scaffold cannot achieve. The objective is to seamlessly integrate optimal microarchitecture, mechanical robustness, vascularisation, and osteoinductive biological responses to effectively address these critical load-bearing bone defects. To confront this challenge, three-dimensional (3D) printing technology was employed to prepare a polycaprolactone (PCL)-based integrated scaffold. Within the voids of 3D printed PCL scaffold, a methacrylate gelatin (GelMA)/methacrylated silk fibroin (SFMA) composite hydrogel incorporated with parathyroid hormone (PTH) peptide-loaded mesoporous silica nanoparticles (PTH@MSNs) was embedded, evolving into a porous PTH@MSNs/GelMA/SFMA/PCL (PM@GS/PCL) scaffold. The feasibility of fabricating this functional scaffold with a customised hierarchical structure was confirmed through meticulous chemical and physical characterisation. Compression testing unveiled an impressive modulus of 17.81 ± 0.83 MPa for the composite scaffold. Additionally, in vitro angiogenesis potential of PM@GS/ PCL scaffold was evaluated through Transwell and tube formation assays using human umbilical vein endothelium, revealing the superior cell migration and tube network formation. The alizarin red and alkaline phosphatase staining assays using bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells clearly illustrated robust osteogenic differentiation properties within this scaffold. Furthermore, the bone repair potential of the scaffold was investigated on a rat femoral defect model using micro-computed tomography and histological examination, demonstrating enhanced osteogenic and angiogenic performance. This study presents a promising strategy for fabricating a microenvironment-matched composite scaffold for bone tissue engineering, providing a potential solution for effective bone defect repair. © 2024, Chinese Medical Multimedia Press Co Ltd. Relaxor ferroic dielectrics have garnered increasing attention in the past decade as promising materials for energy *** them,relaxor antiferroelectrics(AFEs)and relaxor ferroelectrics(FEs)have shown great promise in term of high energy storage density and efficiency,*** this study,a unique phase transition from relaxor AFE to relaxor FE was achieved for the first time by introducing strong-ferroelectricity BaTiO_(3)into NaNbO_(3)-BiFeO_(3)system,leading to an evolution from AFE R hierarchical nanodomains to FE polar nanoregions.A novel medium state,consisting of relaxor AFE and relaxor FE,was identified in the crossover of 0.88NaNbO_(3)–0.07BiFeO_(3)–0.05BaTiO_(3)ceramic,exhibiting a distinctive core-shell grain structure due to the composition *** harnessing the advantages of high energy storage density from relaxor AFE and large efficiency from relaxor FE,the ceramic showcased excellent overall energy storage *** achieved a substantial recoverable energy storage density W_(rec)~13.1 j/cm^(3)and an ultrahigh efficiencyη~88.9%.These remarkable values shattered the trade-off relationship typically observed in most dielectric capacitors between W_(rec)andη.The findings of this study provide valuable insights for the design of ceramic capacitors with enhanced performance,specifically targeting the development of next generation pulse power devices.
