Free and open access to the Landsat archive has enabled the implementation of national and global terrestrial monitoring ***,we summarize a project characterizing the change history of Canada’s forested ecosystems with a time series of data representing *** the Composite2Change approach,we applied spectral trend analysis to annual best-available-pixel(BAP)surface reflectance image composites produced from Landsat TM and ETM+imagery.A total of 73,544 images were used to produce 29 annual image composites,generating∼400 TB of interim data products and resulting in∼25 TB of annual gap-free reflectance composites and change *** average,10%of pixels in the annual BAP composites were missing data,with 86%of pixels having data gaps in two consecutive years or *** detection overall accuracy was 89%.Change attribution overall accuracy was 92%,with higher accuracy for standreplacing wildfire and *** were assigned to the correct year with an accuracy of 89%.Outcomes of this project provide baseline information and nationally consistent data source to quantify and characterize changes in forested *** methods applied and lessons learned build confidence in the products generated and empower others to develop or refine similar satellite-based monitoring projects.

while a large number of studies have described animal social networks, we have a poor understanding of how these networks vary with ecological and social conditions. For example, reproductive periods are an important life-history stage that may involve changes in dominance relationships among individuals, yet no study to date has compared social networks of do- minance interactions （i.e. dominance networks） across reproductive contexts. we first analyzed a long-term dataset on captive so- cial groups of the cooperatively breeding cichlid Neolamprologuspulcher, and found that eviction events were significantly more common around reproduction than expected by chance. Next, we compared the structure of dominance networks during early pa- rental care and non-reproductive periods, using one of the first applications of exponential random graph models in behavioral biology. Contrary to our predictions, we found that dominance networks showed few changes between early parental care and non-reproductive periods. we found no evidence that dominance interactions became more skewed towards larger individuals, became more frequent between similar-sized individuals, or became more biased towards a particular sex during parental care. However, we did find that there were relatively more dominance interactions between opposite-sex dyads in the early parental care period, which may be a by-product of increased sexual interactions during this time. This is the first study in behavioral ecology to compare social networks using exponential random graph modeling, and demonstrates a powerful analytical framework for future studies in the field [Current Zoology 61 （1）： 45-54, 2015].

The neurophysiological measurement technique known as magnetoencephalography, or MEG, has been in use since the early 1970's, and applied to clinical populations since the early 1980's. However, it was not until the late 1980's and early 1990's that the technology was advanced to point where effective clinical use was achieved. This presentation will review the basic principles of MEG, discuss the progression of technology development and give an update on the current clinical applications of the technology.

Can a cardiorespiratory field parameter assess both cardiovascular and respiratory fitness in schoolchildren?

Background: Cardiorespiratory fitness involves both cardiovascular and respiratory capacities. However, existing methods have been criticised for reflecting cardiovascular fitness, but not pulmonary fitness. The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between these two testing parameters. Methods: A cross-sectional population-based physical fitness assessment was conducted in 23 schools. The body height and weight, lung capacity, and step test results of students aged 10-18 were recorded. Criterion-referenced standards from the China Sports Bureau were adopted, as they include separate measurements for cardiovascular and pulmonary fitness. Results: The Pearson coefficients of lung capacity and the step test index from 13,028 schoolchildren ranged from 0.007 to 0.086 and from 0.026 to 0.105 for boys and girls, respectively, showing that poor correlations exist between the two parameters. Cluster analysis resulted in three clusters of children with similar characteristics. A good degree of similarity was found between the two parameters in children obtaining an “excellent” grade, but only a moderate degree of similarity between the two parameters in those obtaining a “good”, “pass” or “fail” grade. Conclusion: when cardiovascular fitness and pulmonary fitness are considered separately, there is a poor correlation between them, thus indicating further studies of cardiopulmonary fitness measurements is necessary.

when sun plants, such as Arabidopsis thaliana, are under canopy shade, elongation of stems/petioles will be induced as one of the most prominent responses. Plant hormones mediate the elongation growth. However, how environmental and hormonal signals are translated into cell expansion activity that leads to the elongation growth remains elusive. Through forward genetic study, we identi-fied shade avoidance2 (sav2) mutant, which contains a P287L mutation in b-TUBULIN 4. Cortical microtubules (cMTs) play a key role in anisotropic cell growth. Hypocotyls of sav2 are wild type-like in white light, but are short and highly swollen in shade and dark. we showed that shade not only induces cMT rearrangement, but also affects cMT stability and dynamics of plus ends. Even though auxin and brassinosteroids are required for shade-induced hypocotyl elongation, they had little effect on shade-induced rearrangement of cMTs. Blocking auxin transport suppressed dark phenotypes of sav2, while overexpressing EB1b-GFP, a microtubule plus-end binding protein, rescued sav2 in both shade and dark, suggesting that tub4P287L represents a unique type of tubulin mutation that does not affect cMT function in supporting cell elongation, but may affect the ability of cMTs to respond properly to growth promoting stimuli.

In 1981 a magnetic and bathymetric survey was carried out over Explorer Seamount located approximately between 48°50′ and 49°30′N and 130°40′ and 131°30′w. During the cruise four pillow fragments were dredged from peaks in this area. Based on the observed ***, it was identified that the main peak of Explorer Seamount should be of the Bruhnes age while the magnetic high in the N w of study area would be Gauss. This would yield a spreading rate of about 2 cm per year for the Matuyama epoch. The results of intensities of remanence measured from the pillow fragments indicate that the ages are less than 106 years. Similarly the Curie temperature is consistent with ages of around 106 years. An attempt was made to model the observed magnetic field using a series of uniformly magnetized NE-Sw trending blocks of alternating polarity. Agreement between the model and observed results is satisfied. Oxidation ratios calculated from measured samples suggest that the main peak of Explorer Seamount is

目的了解乳腺癌患者相关症状的发生情况及其对生活质量的影响。方法横断面调查设计,以记忆症状评估量表和生活质量调查问卷(第3版)对四川大学华西医院等3所医院的200例乳腺癌患者进行面对面的问卷调查。结果乳腺癌各种症状中发生率居前五位的有缺乏活力、脱发、精神紧张、出汗和焦虑不安;出现频率高居前五位的症状是缺乏活力、睡眠不好、口干、没有食欲和出汗;严重程度居前五位的症状是脱发、缺乏活力、睡眠不好、精神紧张和进食口味改变;对患者造成困扰程度居前五位的症状是脱发、感到“我看起来不像自己”、睡眠不好、没有食欲和缺乏活力;对乳腺癌患者整体生活质量的影响从大到小依次为缺乏活力、焦虑不安、疼痛、睡眠不好、便秘、急躁易怒、口干、出汗、手脚感到麻木或刺痛、皮肤改变、腹泻、恶心、没有食欲、气紧或呼吸困难,确定系数R2=0.790。结论乳腺癌患者最突出的症状是缺乏活力;脱发是使患者感到最困扰的问题;其他值得注意的症状有:感到“我看起来不像自己”,睡眠不好,没有食欲。对患者整体生活质量评分产生影响的症状有14项,它们可以共同解释乳腺癌患者整体生活质量评分总变异的79.0%。

Using proteomics, previous work in our laboratory identified five mitochondrial related proteins [citrate synthase (CS), glucose-regulated protein 75 (GRP75), heat shock protein 60 (HSP60), prohibitin (PHB), voltage-dependent anion channel 1 (VDAC1)] to be differentially expressed in primary cortical neuronal cultures following preconditioning treatments?[1] [2]. To investigate a protective or damaging role of these five proteins in neurons, we used RNAi constructs to knockdown and adenoviral vectors to over-express the proteins in cortical neuronal cultures prior to exposure to three ischemia-related injury models: excitotoxicity (L-glutamic acid), oxidative stress (hydrogen peroxide) and in vitro ischemia (oxygen-glucose deprivation). we observed that down-regulating these mitochondrial proteins had no effect on neuronal viability, in any injury model. By contrast, over-expression of PHB exacerbated cell death in the hydrogen peroxide and L-glutamic acid injury models. These findings indicate that PHB plays a neurodamaging role following oxidative and excitotoxic stress and suggests that the protein is a potential therapeutic target for the design of drugs to limit neuronal death following cerebral ischemia and other forms of brain injury.
