Que.cus spe.ie.. Cumulative.fue.-wood consumption of 959 Mm3 during 1300-1854 was attribute. to de.ographic e.pansion while.the.de.ore.tation rate.during 1636-1854 accounte. for a minimum of 72.6% and a maximum of 96% of total fore.t cove.. The.ple.hora of mitochondrial functionalitie. confe.s the. an intrinsic susce.tibility to inte.nal and e.te.nal stre.sors(such as mutation accumulation or e.vironme.tal toxins), particularly so in long-live. postmitotic ce.ls such as ne.rons. Thus, it is re.sonable.to postulate.an involve.e.t of mitochondria in aging-associate. ne.rological disorde.s, notably ne.rode.e.e.ative.pathologie. including Alzhe.me.’s dise.se.and Parkinson’s dise.se. on the.othe. hand, biological e.fe.ts re.ulting from ne.rode.e.e.ation can in turn affe.t mitochondrial he.lth and function, promoting a fe.dback loop furthe. contributing to the.progre.sion of ne.ronal dysfunction and ce.lular de.th.
