Viral infections have haunted humankind since times ***,globalization,and extensive deforestation have created an ideal environment for a viral spread with unknown and multiple shedding *** viruses can infect the male reproductive tract,with potential adverse consequences to male reproductive health,including infertility and ***,some genital tract viral infections can be sexually transmitted,potentially impacting the resulting offspring's *** have summarized the evidence concerning the presence and adverse effects of the relevant viruses on the reproductive tract(mumps virus,human immunodeficiency virus,herpes virus,human papillomavirus,hepatitis B and c viruses,Ebola virus,Zika virus,influenza virus,and coronaviruses),their routes of infection,target organs and cells,prevalence and pattern of virus shedding in semen,as well as diagnosis/testing and treatment *** pathophysiological understanding in the male genital tract is essential to assess its clinical impact on male reproductive health and guide future research.

Porous g-c_(3)N_(4)-encapsulated Tio_(2) hollow sphere as a high-performance Z-scheme hybrid for solar-induced photocatalytic abatement of environmentally toxic pharmaceuticals

Herein,we rationally constructed a hybrid heterostructure comprising porous g-c_(3)N_(4)(cN)-encapsulated anatase Tio_(2) hollow spheres(ToHS)via a synthesis method that involves hydrothermal and calcination *** fabricated hybrid,termed cN/ToHS,demonstrated extraordinary activity toward the degradation of environmentally toxic pharmaceutical substances(acetaminophen and ciprofloxacin)in aqueous solutions under simulated sunlight irradiation;the activity of cN/ToHS was superior to that attained for individual ToHS and cN *** particular,the cN/ToHS hybrid containing 13.3 wt.%of cN on ToHS displayed the optimum degradation activity among the tested catalysts used in this study,and it also possessed exceptional recyclability and stability during consecutive degradation *** remarkable photocatalytic activity and stability of the hybrid were predominantly ascribed to the large solid interfacial contact between constituents,ToHS and cN,induced by effective hybrid structure,which boosted the interfacial charge transfer and impeded with the direct recombination of photo-induced ***,the results of the liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis corroborated the effective mineralization of model pharmaceutical pollutants in the presence of the cN/ToHS *** simple interfacial engineering strategy presented in this study offers a potential route for the rational design of novel catalysts for application in environmental remediation and solar energy conversion.

cobalt phosphide nanoarrays with crystalline-amorphous hybrid phase for hydrogen production in universal-pH

To accomplish mass hydrogen production by electrochemical water-splitting,it is a necessary to develop robust,highly active,stable,and cost-effective hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)electrocatalysts that perform comparably to Pt in the universal pH *** this work,cobalt phosphide hybrid nanosheets supported on carbon felt(coP HNS/cF)are presented,which exhibit the superior electrocatalytic hydrogen production under a *** these nanosheets,a single coP HNS is composed of polycrystalline coP and oxygen-enriched amorphous co-o-P *** from its unique nanoarchitecture,as-fabricated coP HNS/cF exhibits a tremendous electrocatalytic HER activity and outperforms Pt/c as well as state-of-the-art coP electrocatalysts in *** acidic and neutral media,the coP HNS/cF shows superior electrocatalytic activity while maintaining its original hybrid crystalline-amorphous phase and *** alkaline medium,the unexpected phase and morphological reorganization of coP HNS/cF results in outstanding electrocatalytic *** HNS/cF not only achieves high electrocatalytic activity and kinetics,but also a stable and long operating lifetime even under a high current density of 500 mA cm'***,the fabrication of coP HNS/cF can be scaled up easily,and the large coP HNS/cF electrode also exhibits similar electrocatalytic activity and stability.

Extract from Zanthoxylum piperitum Induces Apoptosis of AGS Gastric cancer cells through Akt/MDM2/p53 Signaling Pathway

objective:To determine the effect of Zanthoxylum piperitum extracet(ZPE)on apoptosis and analyze anticancer substances in ZPE,changes in proteins related to apoptosis,and pathological changes in tumors in ***:Fifteen 4-week-old female BALB/c nu/nu mice were divided into 3 groups depending on ZPE dose,with 5 in each *** gastric carcinoma cells(1 x 10^(6) cells/200 jxL)were subcutaneously injected into the flank of each *** week after the injection of AGS cells,ZPE was administered to the skin tissue[10 or 50 mg/(kg-d)]in the low-and high-dose groups,respectively for 20 *** animals were injected with vehicle *** 3 weeks,the tumor was extracted and carried out for immunohistochemistry,the tendency of apoptosis and p53 in the body was checked using TdT-mediated dUTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL)*** 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT)assay,annexin V dead cell staining,cell cycle arrest and Western blotting,AGS gastric carcinoma cells were incubated with various concentrations of ZPE for 24 *** survival rates were analyzed by MTT *** was analyzed using annexin V dead cell staining and cell cycle arrest and measured using Muse cell ***:High performance liquid chromatography(HPLc)analysis showed that ZPE contained organic sulfur compounds such as alliin and *** assay results revealed that ZPE(10-85»xg/mL)could effectively inhibit the growth of AGS gastric cancer cells at higher concentrations(Pcell staining assay and cell cycle arrest assay confirmed a dose-dependent increase in the apoptosis rate and G!phase in ZPE(10-70 jig/mL)*** decreased the expression of anti-apoptotic proteins(p-Akt,p-MDM2,Bcl-2),while increased pro-apoptotic proteins(cleaved PARP,p53,pro-caspase 3,Bax).TUNEL assays revealed an increase in cell *** staining confirmed the involvement of ***:ZPE decreases AGS cell

The influence of Re addition and withdrawal rate on the solidification behavior of the first generation single crystal superalloy AM3 was investigated by directional solidification and quenching *** primary dendrite arm spacing and eutectic volume fraction were measured from directionally solidified superalloy AM3 with different Re *** is found that the primary dendrite arm spacing is determined by the withdrawal rate,and Re does not influence on the *** eutectic fraction increases with increasing Re *** coeffcients of alloying elements were investigated with energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry（EDS） *** data was submitted to a statistical treatment to establish the solidification path,and the partition coeficients were measured by fitting the curve with a modified Scheil *** is shown that the addition of Re results in bigger microsegregation of alloying elements in directionally solidified AM3 superalloy.

AIM:To determine the prevalence of a family history suggestive of Lynch syndrome (LS) among patients with colorectal cancer (cRc) followed in a coloproctology outpatient clinic in Southern ***:A consecutive sample of patients with cRc were interviewed regarding personal and family histories of *** data and pathology features of the tumor were obtained from chart ***:of the 212 cRc patients recruited,61 (29%) reported a family history of cRc,45 (21.2%) were diagnosed under age 50 years and 11 (5.2%) had more than one primary *** histories consistent with Amsterdam and revised Bethesda criteria for LS were identified in 22 (10.4%) and 100 (47.2%) patients,*** percent of the colorectal tumors had features of the high microsatellite instability phenotype,which was associated with younger age at cRc diagnosis and with Bethesda criteria (P only 5.3% of the patients above age 50 years had been previously submitted for cRc screening and only 4% of patients with suspected LS were referred for genetic risk ***:A significant proportion of patients with cRc were at high risk for *** and training of health care professionals are essential to ensure proper management.

AIM:To provide a comprehensive and more representative national data on the disease,especially on treatment options and outcomes,and to determine access of retinoblastoma patients from Luzon,Visayas and Mindanao to eye care,and determine if access is associated with delay in consultation,staging and ***:cohort study of retinoblastoma patients seen in eleven institutions located in the three major areas of the Philippines namely Luzon,Vizayas and Mindanao from ***:Totally 636 patients,involving 821 eyes,were ***(57%)were from Luzon and were seen in institutions in Luzon(72%).Annually,58±10 new cases were seen with 71%having unilateral *** delay of consultation remained long at 9(3,17)mo,longest in patients with unilateral disease(Pose from the Visayas(Pon the International Retinoblastoma Staging System,only 35%of patients had Stage 1 while 47%already had extraocular *** was the most common treatment received by 484 patients while intravenous chemotherapy was received by *** were 250(39%)patients alive,195(31%)dead,85(13%)abandoned,17(3%)refused and 89(14%)with no ***:This study presents the largest cohort of retinoblastoma patients in the Philippines in terms of patients’and participating institutions’number and geographical location and type of institution(private and public).It also presents more comprehensive data on the treatments used and outcomes(survival,globe salvage,and vision retention rates).Delay in consultation was still long among patients leading to advanced disease stage and lower survival *** increasing capacity to diagnose and manage retinoblastoma in the country,the delay of consultation remains long primarily due to accessibility issues to eye care institutions especially in the Visayas and financial *** delay was still significant that overall survival rate remain low.

Information about extreme rainfall is lacking in regions of South America and *** study attempts to fill this scientific gap by use of a gridded parameterization for the stochastic weather generator,cLIGEN,to map depth-duration-frequency(DDF)*** of 500-year point-scale precipitation time series generated at each grid point allowed maps of return period precipitation to be produced for a se-lection of sixteen durations ranging from 10-min to 1-year and for nine return periods from 2 to 500 *** generalized extreme value(GEV)probability distribution was fitted for all durations,and given GEV quantiles,an interpolation method was applied to produce maps at 0.1° resolution that better resolve small-scale spatial climate *** addition to uncertainties related to GEV fitting,this study quantifies prediction intervals based on ground *** validation was important for identifying biases in cLIGEN,although uncertainties were not always satisfactorily defined due to sampling design and other *** daily/multi-day durations,100 stations with daily observations and ≥50-year records were selected for validation against the 0.1° cLIGEN map series,resulting in a median and average absolute error of 13%and 16%,*** sub-daily durations,prediction errors were larger *** analogy using available *** established the degree of bias in cUGEN for sub-daily durations,and three records in Brazil with high temporal resolutions were used to confirm that applied bias adjustments resulted in error ranges similar to the daily/multi-day *** atlas is freely available for study of extreme precipitation.
