In this study, it is demonstrated that the motion of hinges in single protein molecules can be modeled as general fractional Langevin dynamics of harmonically bound particles driven by non-local Gaussian noise with a power-law correlation. This conclusion was justified by comparing the theoretical predictions of the proposed model to the existing molecular dynamics simulations performed on the M6I mutant of phage T4 lysozyme and E. coli ribonuclease H1.

A high-precision and space-time fully decoupled numerical method is developed for a class of nonlinear initial boundary value problems. It is established based on a proposed Coiflet-based approximation scheme with an adjustable high order for the functions over a bounded interval, which allows the expansion coefficients to be explicitly expressed by the function values at a series of single points. When the solution method is used, the nonlinear initial boundary value problems are first spatially discretized into a series of nonlinear initial value problems by combining the proposed wavelet approximation and the conventional Galerkin method, and a novel high-order step-by-step time integrating approach is then developed for the resulting nonlinear initial value problems with the same function approximation scheme based on the wavelet theory. The solution method is shown to have the N th-order accuracy, as long as the Coiflet with [0, 3 N-1]compact support is adopted, where N can be any positive even number. Typical examples in mechanics are considered to justify the accuracy and efficiency of the method.

A wavelet method is proposed to solve the Burgers’*** this method,this nonlinear partial differential equation is first transformed into a system of ordinary differential equations using the modified wavelet Galerkin method recently developed by the ***,the classical fourth-order explicit Runge–Kutta method is employed to solve the resulting system of ordinary differential *** a wavelet-based solution procedure has been justified by solving two test examples:results demonstrate that the proposed method has a much better accuracy and efficiency than many other existing numerical methods,and whose order of convergence can go up to *** importantly,our results also indicate that the present wavelet method can readily deal with those fluid dynamics problems with high Reynolds numbers.

Simultaneously improving Fusarium head blight(FHB)resistance and grain yield is challenging in wheat *** correlations between spikelet compactness(SC),grain number per spike(GNS),thousandgrain weight(TGW)and FHB resistance remains unclear in common *** of major quantitative trait loci(QTL)conferring FHB resistance and yield components,and development of breeder-friendly markers for the QTL are prerequisites for marker-assisted selection(maS).Here,a recombinant inbred line(RIL)population derived from a cross between a resistant cultivar Yangmai 12(YM12)and a susceptible cultivar Yanzhan 1(YZ1)was used to map QTL for FHB resistance and yield components.A total of 22 QTL were identified;among these,six are likely to be new for corresponding traits.A QTL cluster(***-2D)for FHB type II resistance,SC,GNS,and TGW was detected on chromosome ***-friendly kompetitive allele-specific PCR(KASP)markers flanking the interval of ***-2D were developed and validated in a diverse panel of 166 wheat cultivars and advanced *** YM12 alleles of ***-2D significantly increased FHB resistance,SC,and GNS but decreased TGW in the validation *** KASP markers developed for ***-2D have great potential for breeding high-yielding wheat cultivars with enhanced FHB resistance.

Haplotype variation of Green Revolution gene Rht-D1 during wheat domestication and improvement

Green Revolution made a substantial contribution to wheat yields worldwide in the 196os and 197os. It is of great importance to analyze the haplotype variation of Rht-D1, the Green Revolution gene, during wheat （Triticum aestivum L.） domestication and breeding to understand its evolution and function in wheat breeding history. In this study, the Rht-D1 and its flanking regions were sequenced and single nucleotide polymorphisms were detected based on a panel of 45 accessions of Aegilops tauschii, 51 accessions of landraces and 8o accessions of commercial varieties. Genetic diversity in the wild accessions was much higher than that in the varieties and higher than that reported previously. Seven haplotypes （Hapl I to Hapl VII） of Rht-D1 were identified and their evolutionary relationships were proposed. In addition to the well-known Green Revolution allele Rht-Dlb, Hapl Vii （an allele Rht-Dlk） was identified in early breeding varieties, whichreduced plant height by 16%. The results suggested that Rht-Dlk had been used in breeding before the Green Revolution and made a great contribution to wheat production worldwide. Based on the breeding history and molecular evidence, we proposed that the wheat Green Revolution in China and International maize and Wheat Improvement Center （CIMMYT） occurred independently.

Receptor diffusion on cell membrane is usually believed as a major factor that controls how fast a virus can enter into host cell via ***,when receptors are densely distributed around the binding site so that receptor recruiting through diffusion is no longer energetically favorable,we thus hypothesize that another effect,the creep deformation of cytoskeleton,might turn to play the dominant role in relaxing the engulfing *** order to deeply understand this mechanism,we propose a viscoelastic model to investigate the dynamic process of virus engulfment retarded by the creep deformation of cytoskeleton and driven by the binding of ligand-receptor bonds after overcoming resistance from elastic deformation of lipid membrane and *** on this new model,we predict the lower bound of the ligand density and the range of virus size that allows the complete engulfment,and an optimal virus size corresponding to the smallest wrapping ***,these predictions can be reduced to the previous predictions based on simplified membrane models by taking into account statistical thermodynamic *** results presented in this study may be of interest to toxicologists,nanotechnologists,and virologists.

Identification and Validation of a major Quantitative Trait Locus for Slow-rusting Resistance to Stripe Rust in Wheat

Stripe （yellow） rust, caused by Puccinia striiformis Westend. f. sp. tritici Eriks （Pst）, is one of the most important wheat （Triticum aestivum L.） diseases and causes significant yield losses. A recombinant inbred （RI） population derived from a cross between Yanzhan 1 and Xichang 76-9 cultivars was evaluated for resistance to wheat stripe rust strain CYR32 at both the seedling and adult plant stages. Four resistance quantitative trait loci （QTLs） were detected in this population, in which the major one, designated as Yrql, was mapped on chromosome 2DS. The strategy of using the Brachypodium distachyon genome, wheat expressed sequence tags and a draft DNA sequences （scaffolds） of the D-genome （Aegilops tauschfi Coss.） for the development of simple sequence repeat （SSR） markers was successfully used to identify 147 SSRs in hexaploid wheat. Of the 19 polymorphic SSRs in the RI population, 17 SSRs were mapped in the homeologous group 2 chromosomes near Yrql region and eight SSRs were genetically mapped in the 2.7 cM region of Yrql, providing abundant DNA markers for fine-mapping of Yrql and marker-assisted selection in wheat breeding program. The effectiveness of Yrql was validated in an independent population, indicating that this resistance QTL can be successfully transferred into a susceptible cultivar for improvement of stripe rust resistance.
