The Association of Southeast Asian Nations is blessed with agricultural resources,and with the growing population,it will continue to prosper,which follows the abundance of agricultural biomass.Lignocellulosic biomass attracted researchers’interest in extracting bio-oil from these wastes.However,the resulting bio-oil has low heating values and undesirable physical properties.Hence,co-pyrolysis with plastic or polymer wastes is adopted to improve the yield and quality of the bio-oil.Furthermore,with the spread of the novel coronavirus,the surge of single-use plastic waste such as disposable medical face mask,can potentially set back the previous plastic waste reduction measures.Therefore,studies of existing technologies and techniques are referred in exploring the potential of disposable medical face mask waste as a candidate for co-pyrolysis with biomass.Process parameters,utilisation of catalysts and technologies are key factors in improving and optimising the process to achieve commercial standard of liquid fuel.Catalytic copyrolysis involves a series of complex mechanisms,which cannot be explained using simple iso-conversional models.Hence,advanced conversional models are introduced,followed by the evolutionary models and predictive models,which can solve the non-linear catalytic copyrolysis reaction kinetics.The outlook and challenges for the topic are discussed in detail.

Review of sustainability, pretreatment, and engineering considerations of asphalt modifiers from the industrial solid wastes

The escalating mass of solid waste at an overwhelming sum requires a global attention to strive for efficient waste management and to outsource the ecological treatments. The asphalt pavement industry that consumes a vast scale of natural resources while contributing to thermal and greenhouse emissions is viewed as a high potential alternative for the application of solid waste as asphalt modifier and substantial waste reduction. In efforts to urge for cleaner and greener asphalt production, a growing trend towards usage of solid waste as a renewable material is paving a sustainable future for the asphalt pavement industry. The economic options of incorporating solid waste into the asphaltic mixture coupled with proven effective performances are a green and cost-effective alternative to mitigate various pavement distresses. Various options either as coarse or fine aggregates and as fillers in powder, ash, or fibre form are to stimulate further research interest to incorporate a diversified range of solid waste into the asphalt binder and asphalt mixture. Prior to incorporating solid waste into the asphaltic mixture through the selected options, prerequisite tests in addressing engineering limitations due to the unknown properties of solid waste are reviewed. The concerns on environmental impact are given heavy metals leaching possibilities into water sources are addressed by Toxicity Characterization Leaching Procedure test, to leverage further the systematic reuse of solid waste in steering towards the cleaner production of the asphalt mixture. The microcosmic traits of solid waste namely surface morphology, mineralogical composition and chemical composition are summarized based on the usage of Scanning Electron Microscope, X-Ray Diffraction, and X-Ray Fluorescence, respectively. This systematic review is an enactment and stimulus for researchers to have a general overview before incorporating solid waste into asphalt mixture.

Stents for malignant ureteral obstruction

Malignant ureteral obstruction can result in renal dysfunction or urosepsis and can limit the physician’s ability to treat the underlying cancer.There are multiple methods to deal with ureteral obstruction including regular polymeric double j stents(DjS),tandem DjS,nephrostomy tubes,and then more specialized products such as solid metal stents(e.g.,Resonance Stent,Cook Medical)and polyurethane stents reinforced with nickel-titanium(e.g.,UVENTA stents,TaeWoong Medical).In patients who require long-term stenting,a nephrostomy tube could be transformed subcutaneously into an extra-anatomic stent that is then inserted into the bladder subcutaneously.We outline the most recent developments published since 2012 and report on identifiable risk factors that predict for failure of urinary drainage.These failures are typically a sign of cancer progression and the natural history of the disease rather than the individual type of drainage device.Factors that were identified to predict drainage failure included low serum albumin,bilateral hydronephrosis,elevated C-reactive protein,and the presence of pleural effusion.Head-to-head studies show that metal stents are superior to polymeric DjS in terms of maintaining patency.Discussions with the patient should take into consideration the frequency that exchanges will be needed,the need for externalized hardware(with nephrostomy tubes),or severe urinary symptoms in the case of internal DjS.This review will highlight the current state of diversions in the setting of malignant ureteral obstruction.

Constraining the links between the Himalayan belt and the Central Myanmar Basins during the Cenozoic:An integrated multi-proxy detrital geochronology and trace-element geochemistry study

Geological and tectonic analysis of the Eastern Himalayan basins has given rise to a decade-long debate on the geodynamic evolution of the Burmese terrane and on the extent of reorganization of the main SE Asia drainage systems.However,the influence of the Himalayan belt on the Central Myanmar Basin(CMB)system remains poorly documented,although it is key to providing more accurate models for the evolution of the Himalayan-Burmese orogen.In this contribution,we present geochronological,isotopic and geochemical analysis from 2500 zircon,1700 titanite,700 rutile and 850 apatite detrital grains from fifteen Cenozoic siliciclastic samples and one Cretaceous igneous rock.The samples were collected within the fore-and back-arc basins of the Central Myanmar Basin domain(CMB)to constrain the provenance,maximum depositional ages,and depositional environments of the west Burma terrane.Nine key lithological units,the Sadwingyi,Ketpanda,Wabo Chaung,Gwegon,Minwun,Padaung,Okmintaung and Irrawaddy formations have detrital age spectra spanning from the Miocene to Paleoarchean.The entire data set has common age peaks at ca.20,40,60,90,100 Ma,with about 80%of the U–Pb ages younger than ca.140 Ma and only ca.1%of the grains predating ca.3.0 Ga.Our results shed light on the current ambiguities on the transport pathways of Himalayan detritus in the CMB.They show that the fore-arc basin was open to the trench and fed by the unroofing of both the Wuntho Popa volcanic arc to the east and possibly from the Burmese basement and/or from Himalayan-derived Bengal Fan detritus to the west during the Eocene,from at least ca.44 Ma to before ca.39 Ma.We show that the west Burma Terrane was partitioned into pull-apart basins such as the Minwun Basin,which during the Oligocene recorded the first evidence of a new source contribution into the CMB at ca.27 Ma.This new source is characterized by detritus highly compatible with the SE Asia basement rocks,which we suggest corresponds to the initiation of the palaeo–Irrawaddy River.This geodynamic evolut

Microstructure and mechanical behavior of laser aided additive manufactured low carbon interstitial Fe_(49.5)Mn_(30)Co_(10)Cr_(10)C_(0.5)multicomponent alloy

Laser aided additive manufacturing(LAAM)was used to fabricate bulk Fe_(49.5)Mn_(30)Co_(10)Cr_(10)C_(0.5)interstitial multicomponent alloy using pre-alloyed powder.The room temperature yield strength(σ_y),ultimate tensile strength(σ_(UTS))and elongation(ε_(UTS))were 645 MPa,917 MPa and 27.0%respectively.The asbuilt sample consisted of equiaxed and dendritic cellular structures formed by elemental segregation.These cellular structures together with oxide particle inclusions were deemed to strengthen the material.The other contributing components include dislocation strengthening,friction stress and grain boundary strengthening.The highε_(UTS)was attributed to dislocation motion and activation of both twinning and transformation-induced plasticity(TWIP and TRIP).Tensile tests performed at-40℃and-130℃demonstrated superior tensile strength of 1041 MPa and 1267 MPa respectively.However,almost no twinning was observed in the fractured sample tested at-40℃and-130℃.Instead,higher fraction of strain-induced hexagonal close-packed(HCP)εphase transformation of 21.2%were observed for fractured sample tested at-40℃,compared with 6.3%in fractured room temperature sample.

Background and Aims:Pharmaceutical therapy for NASH is associated with lipid modulation,but the consensus on drug treatment is limited and lacks comparative analysis of effectiveness.A network meta-analysis was conducted to compare NASH drug classes in lipid modulation.Methods:Online databases were searched for randomized controlled trails(RCTs)evaluating NASH treatments in biopsy-proven NASH patients.Treatments were classified into four groups:(1)inflammation,(2)energy,(3)bile acids,and(4)fibro-sis based on the mechanism of action.A Bayesian network analysis was conducted with outcome measured by mean difference(MD)with credible intervals(Crl)and surface un-der the cumulative ranking curve(SUCRA).Results:Forty-four RCTs were included in the analysis.Bile acid modulat-ing treatments(MD:0.05,Crl:0.03-0.07)were the best treatment for improvement in high-density lipid(HDL)cho-lesterol,followed by treatments modulating energy(MD:0.03,Crl:0.02-0.04)and fibrosis(MD:0.01,Crl:−0.12 to 0.14)compared with placebo.The top three treatments for reduction in triglycerides were treatments modulating energy(MD:−0.46,Crl:−0.49 to−0.43),bile acids(MD:−0.22,Crl:−0.35 to−0.09),and inflammation(MD:−0.08,Crl:−0.13 to−0.03)compared with placebo.SUCRA found treatment modulating fibrosis(MD:−1.27,Crl:−1.76 to−0.79)was the best treatment for reduction in low-density lipid(LDL)cholesterol followed by treatment modulating in-flammation(MD:−1.03,Crl:−1.09 to−0.97)and energy(MD:−0.37,Crl:−0.39 to−0.34)compared with placebo,but LDL cholesterol was worsened by treatments modulat-ing bile acids.Conclusions:Network analysis comparing the class effects of dyslipidemia modulation in NASH found that treatment targets can include optimization of athero-genic dyslipidemia.Future studies are required to evaluate the cardiovascular outcomes.

This paper presents an apatite U-Pb and geochemistry archive for exposed plutons and metamorphic rocks of the Kyrgyz South Tian Shan(STS)within the Central Asian Orogenic Belt.Apatite U-Pb dates and trace-element geochemistry are provided for 17 samples from late Carboniferous-early Permian I-type granites in the Terktinsky complex and A-type granites in the Kokshaal Range;early Devonian granites in the Kembel complex;Cryogenian granitoids and tuffs from the Middle Tian Shan and gneisses from the Atbashi metamorphic complex.These samples form a comprehensive selection of igneous and metamorphic rocks within the cores of Mesozoic basement highs that supplied detritus to adjacent basins such as the Tarim,Ferghana and Yarkand-Ferghana Basins.Generally,the granitoid samples preserve primary igneous apatite U-Pb ages that are within uncertainty of previously published zircon U-Pb dates.The apatites from the Atbashi metamorphic complex record anomalous Ordovician dates with large uncertainties that are interpreted as mixing ages between Cryogenian protolith formation and Carboniferous metamorphism.Principal component analysis discriminates apatite samples from the different bedrock terranes in the Kyrgyz STS based on their geochemical fingerprint and categorizes the samples with respect to an extensive apatite geochemical archive.The combined apatite-zircon archive provides a novel framework for provenance studies on the Meso-Cenozoic sedimentary history of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt.

Paradigm shift in gastrointestinal surgery−combating sarcopenia with prehabilitation:Multimodal review of clinical and scientific data

A growing body of evidence has demonstrated the prognostic significance of sarcopenia in surgical patients as an independent predictor of postoperative complications and outcomes.These included an increased risk of total complications,major complications,re-admissions,infections,severe infections,30 d mortality,longer hospital stay and increased hospitalization expenditures.A program to enhance recovery after surgery was meant to address these complications;however,compliance to the program since its introduction has been less than ideal.Over the last decade,the concept of prehabilitation,or"pre-surgery rehabilitation",has been discussed.The presurgical period represents a window of opportunity to boost and optimize the health of an individual,providing a compensatory"buffer"for the imminent reduction in physiological reserve postsurgery.Initial results have been promising.We review the literature to critically review the utility of prehabilitation,not just in the clinical realm,but also in the scientific realm,with a resource management point-of-view.

Bioluminescent fungi from Peninsular Malaysia-a taxonomic and phylogenetic overview

Fifteen bioluminescent fungi recently collected from Peninsular Malaysia are analysed herein.The phylogeny of the Malaysian bioluminescent fungi and closely related taxa were evaluated with molecular data from the nuclear ribosomal large subunit(LSU),RNA polymerase 2 second largest subunit(RPB2)and internal transcribed spacers(ITS)gene regions.DNA sequences data support the circumscription of species based on the morphological species concept,but was unable to fully support the current sectional delimitation of genus Mycena.Of the 15 taxa analysed here,four are novel species described herein,viz.Mycena gombakensis,M.nocticaelum,M.coralliformis and Panellus luxfilamentus;while four taxa of Mycena sect.Calodontes were recently described as new.One species(M.noctilucens)represents a new distribution record to Peninsular Malaysia,and six species(Neonothopanus nambi,Filoboletus manipularis,P.luminescens,Roridomyces pruinosoviscidus,M.chlorophos and M.illuminans)have been previously reported.Roridomyces pruinosoviscidus is accepted as a new combination based on morphological and phylogenetic data.Culture morphology data indicate its potential for taxon delimitation as axenic cultures of each species produced unique and distinguishable characteristics.Comprehensive descriptions,illustrations and photographs are provided on basidiome and culture morphology.A key to aid in species identification,comparisons with allied species and data on basidiome and mycelium luminescence are also provided.This study gives the first report on mycelial luminescence for M.noctilucens,P.luminescens,R.pruinosoviscidus as well as all new species described herein.The reports in this study bring the total known luminescent fungi worldwide to 81 species.

Background:Bariatric surgery represents an important treatment option for severely obese patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).However,there remains inadequate data regarding the effects of different bariatric procedures on various NAFLD parameters,especially for histological outcomes.Thus,this meta-analysis aimed to compare the effects of restrictive bariatric procedures and foregut bypass on the metabolic,biochemical,and histological parameters for patients with NAFLD.Methods:Medline and Embase were searched for articles relating to bariatric procedures and NAFLD.Pairwise meta-analysis was conducted to compare efficacy of bariatric procedures pre-vs.post-procedure with subgroup analysis to further compare restrictive against foregut bypass procedures.Results:Thirty-one articles involving 3,355 patients who underwent restrictive bariatric procedures(n=1,460)and foregut bypass(n=1,895)were included.Both foregut bypass(P<0.01)and restrictive procedures(P=0.03)significantly increased odds of fibrosis resolution.Compared to restrictive procedures,foregut bypass resulted in a borderline non-significant decrease in fibrosis score(P=0.06)and significantly lower steatosis score(P<0.001).For metabolic parameters,foregut bypass significantly lowered body mass index(P=0.003)and low-density lipoprotein(P=0.008)compared to restrictive procedures.No significant differences were observed between both procedures for aspartate aminotransferase(P=0.17)and alkaline phosphatase(P=0.61).However,foregut bypass resulted in significantly lower gamma-glutamyl transferase than restrictive procedures(P=0.01)while restrictive procedures resulted in significantly lower alanine transaminase than foregut bypass(P=0.02).Conclusions:The significant histological and metabolic advantages and comparable improvements in biochemical outcomes support the choice of foregut bypass over restrictive bariatric procedures in NAFLD management.
