We propose a switchable vortex beam polarization state terahertz multi-layer metasurface,which consists of threelayer elliptical metal crosses,four-layer dielectrics,and two-layer hollow metal circles,which are alternately *** the normal incidence of left-handed circularly polarized(LCP)wave and the right-handed circularly polarized(RCP)waves,the proposed structure realizes three independent control functions,i.e.,focused and vortex beam,vortex beam with different topological charges,and polarization states switching,and azimuth switching of two vortex beams with different polarization *** results show that the proposed metasurface provides a new idea for investigating the multifunctional terahertz wave modulation devices.

A dual-function terahertz metasurface based on VO_(2) and graphene is proposed in this *** consists of a gold layer embedded with VO_(2) patches,a SiO_(2) spacer layer,a VO_(2) layer,graphene and a SiO_(2) spacer *** the bottom VO2 layer is in the metallic state,the designed metasurface can achieve *** the top VO_(2) patches are in the metallic state,the proposed metasurface can be used as a single-band absorber with terahertz absorptance of 99.7% at 0.736 *** the top VO2 patches are in the insulating state,the designed structure behaves as a dual-band absorber with an absorptance of 98.9%at 0.894 THz and 99.9% at 1.408 *** addition,the absorber is polarization insensitive and keeps good performance at large angles of *** the bottom VO_(2) is in an insulating state,the metasurface shows electromagnetically induced *** transparent window can be dynamically regulated by controlling the chemical potential of *** proposed metasurface exhibits the advantages of terahertz absorption,electromagnetically induced transparency and dynamic control,which provides more options for the design of terahertz devices in the future.

The digital coding metasurfaces need several kinds of meta-particle structures to obtain corresponding electromagnetic wave responses and require time-consuming *** this paper, we present train-symbol-shaped meta-particles with various orientations utilizing Pancharatnam-Berry(PB) phase to achieve 1-, 2-, and 3-bit digital coding *** wave scattering patterns of the coding metasurfaces with regular and random sequences are given and *** have strongly suppressed backward scattering with approximately-13.5 dB radar cross section(RCS) reduction in a wide band range from 0.85 THz to 1.6 *** proposed digital coding metasurfaces provide a simple way and new opportunities for manipulating terahertz wave scattering with polarization independence.

Polarization conversion is a very important electromagnetic wave manipulation *** this paper,we investigate a high-efficiency linear-to-circular polarization and cross-polarization converter by utilizing coding *** coding particle consists of top layer metal pattern and bottom metal plate sandwiched with square F4B dielectric,which can manipulate the linear-to-circular polarization and cross-polarization converter of the reflected wave *** the terahertz frequency range of 1.0 THz-2.0 THz,the reflection magnitudes reach approximately 90%and the axial ratio is less than 3 *** proposed polarization converter may lead to advances in a variety of applications such as security,microscopy,information processing,stealth technology,and data storage.

Most of existing metasurfaces usually have limited channel behavior,which seriouslyhinders their development and *** this paper,we propose a multi-channel terahertz focused beam generator based on shared-aperture metasurface,and the generator consists of a top square metal strip,a middle layer of silica and a metal bottom *** changing the position and size of the shared-aperture array,the designed metasurface can generate any number of multi-channel focusing beams at different predicted *** addition,the energy intensity of focusing beams can be *** full-wave simulation results show that the metasurface achieves four-channel vortex focused beam generation with different topological charges,and five-,six-,eight-channel focused beam generation with different energy intensities at a frequency of 1 THz,which are in good agreement with the theoretically calculated *** work can provide a new idea for designing the terahertz multichannel devices.

A series of malonate derivatives-calix[4]arene conjugates were synthesized through Knoevenagel condensation reaction between formyl-tetrapropoxycalix[4]arene and malonate derivatives. The structures of the resulting malonate derivative functionalized calix[4]arenes were characterized by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry and even single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

We demonstrate a graphene-metasurface structure for tunable wide-incident-angle terahertz wave absorption,which involves depositing planar arrays of Omega-shaped graphene patterns on a silicon dioxide *** also discuss how the graphene Fermi-level layer and various substrates affect the absorption *** absorption of the proposed terahertz absorber is above 80%at an incident angle of 0°–60°in frequencies ranging from 0.82 to 2.0 *** results will be very beneficial in the application of terahertz wave communications and biomedical imaging/sensing systems.

This study has proposed and numerically demonstrated a compact terahertz wave polarization beam splitter. The splitter is built by using a asymmetrical directional coupler consisting of a bend waveguide and a slot bend waveguides and achieves a high extinction ratio of 24.88 dB and 16.55 dB for cross and through ports. The optimal coupling region length is found to be 26 ttm. By using such a polarization beam splitter, the size of the terahertz wave system could he reduced significantly. The simulation results show that the designed polarization beam splitter can split TE- and TM-polarized terahertz wave into different propagation directions with high efficiency over the terahertz wave frequency range from 9.40 THz to 9.65 THz. The device obtained is readily used for a polarization diversity terahertz wave integrated circuit field, particularly for platforms with slot waveguide.
