Beach pea or beach cowpea(Vigna marina(Burm.)Merr.)belongs to the family *** is a close relative of cultivated Vigna species such as adzuki bean(***),cowpea(***),mung bean(***),and blackgram(***),and is distributed throughout the *** its ability to tolerate salt stress,beach pea has great potential to contribute salt-tolerance genes for developing salt-tolerant cultivars in cultivated Vigna ***,it is still underutilized in Vigna breeding programs.A draft genome sequence of beach pea was generated using a high-throughput next-generation sequencing platform,yielding 23.7 Gb of sequence from 79,929,868 filtered reads.A de novo genome assembly containing 68,731 scaffolds gave an N50 length of 10,272 bp and the assembled sequences totaled 365.6 Mb.A total of 35,448 SSRs,including 3574 compound SSRs,were identified and primer pairs for most of these SSRs were *** analysis identified 50,670 genes with mean coding sequence length 1042 *** analysis revealed highest sequence similarity with ***,followed by *** with the *** genome revealed 16,699 SNPs and 2253 InDels and comparison with the *** genome revealed 17,538 SNPs and 2300 *** our knowledge this is the first draft genome sequence of beach pea derived from an accession(ANBp-14-03)adapted locally in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands of *** draft genome sequence may facilitate the genetic enhancement in cultivated Vigna species.

Impact of Selenium on Microtubules Polymarisation of Spermatozoa of Endosulfan Exposed Swiss Albino Mice

Pesticide plays a vital role in agricultural, industrial and residemial pest control. In recent years the ‘pesticide problem＇ has been the focus of public interest because these chemicals have a very important role in agriculture but these chemicals also act like endocrine disruptor. Experiments were carried out on 12 weeks old mice with 30 ± 2 gm. b.w. Endosulfan were administered at 3 mg/kg b.w daily by gavage method for five weeks followed by selenium treatment at 10 μg/kg.b.w./day for five weeks. 9 ＋ 2 arrangment were clearly observed in control group mice with well structured dynein and nexin arm while Endosulfan treated group show depolymerised microtubule and 9 ＋ 1 arrangment with degenerated mitochondria. While selenium treated group shows restoration of 9 ＋ 2 arrangement of microtubule. It is evident from study that endosulfan causes depolymerisation of microtubule while selenium administered group show normal polymerized microtubule and restores normal fertility in mice.

Nasal Valve Surgery: How I do it?

One of the reasons for patients attending ENT clinic with a persistent feeling of Nasal obstruction is the presence of a narrow nasal valve. Currently, there are many surgical methods for widening narrow nasal valves. Yet, most of these methods are difficult to perform and with unpredictable results. The main purpose of this study is to describe and evalu- ate our technique of minimally invasive nasal valve surgery. Thirty three patients, who attended our clinic complaining from of nasal obstruction, were evaluated for indication for nasal valve surgery, complications, and postoperative re- sults. Thirty one out of the 33 patients (94%) who underwent the surgery reported subjective improvement. Visual ana- logue score (VAS score) was used to estimate the degree of pre and postoperative nasal obstruction, the mean preopera- tive score was 8.891 and the mean postoperative was 3.241 and the improvement was statistically significant (P = 3.174). In conclusion, it can be said that the technique of Minimal Invasive Nasal Valve Surgery was found to be safe and extremely effective for most patients having narrow nasal valve.

Controlling the Flow of Microscopic Particles—The Role of Beam Size

Flow of micro particles and fluids is important in many microscopic systems. Here we present details of our finding of a directional flow of micro particles due to a single beam optical trap. It was found that the directional flow depends upon the size of optical trap, the number density of particles in the solution and the time after the trap was created. We suggest controlling the motion of microscopic particles in a fluid by varying a simple parameter like beam size for microfluidics applications.

Concentration Dependence of Thermodynamic Properties of NaPb Liquid Alloy

We have determined integral excess free energy of mixing, heat of mixing and entropy of mixing of NaPb alloys in molten state at 700 K. The observed asymmetry in the properties of mixing of NaPb alloy in molten state is successfully explained on the basis of regular associated solution model. The theoretical analysis reveals that the pairwise interaction energies between the species depend considerably on temperature.

Analysis of the Stress Distribution Pattern of Anatomic and Non-Anatomic Tooth Forms on Maxillary and Mandibular Edentulous Ridges—A Photoelastic Study

Aim: To compare the type of stress distribution pattern occurring with anatomic and non-anatomic tooth forms beneath a complete denture in both maxillary and mandibular arch. Methodology: A photoelastic model of the edentulous maxillary and mandibular ridge was prepared meticulously to simulate the human mandible and maxilla. Two sets of acrylic teeth with anatomic and non-anatomic occlusal forms were used to fabricate upper and lower dentures. A vertical static load of 100 N was applied through the mandibular model to the maxillary model. After load application on the dentures the photoelastic model as well as the upper and lower complete dentures were sectioned in the midline. The sectioned photoelastic model was viewed through a polariscope to observe the fringe pattern indicating varying amounts of stress distribution. In this study, a two-dimensional photoelastic stress analysis technique was utilized. Results: Force per unit area was observed more in anatomic teeth than the non-anatomic counterpart. Hence anatomic tooth forms may increase the possibility of bone resorption rate over a period of time. However, in non-anatomic lower teeth, a decrease in value was observed from posterior to anterior region. Conclusion: Stress of greater magnitude was observed with cuspal teeth whereas non-anatomic (0°) showed slightly less magnitude of stress. Depending upon the clinical situation the clinician needs to choose the type of occlusal tooth forms for edentulous patients.

Ultrasonic Attenuation in Calcium Oxide

Ultrasonic attenuation studies can be used to characterize material not only after production but during processing as well. The most important causes of ultrasonic attenuation in solids are electron-phonon, phonon-phonon interaction and that due to thermo elastic relaxation. The two dominant processes that will give rise to appreciable ultrasonic attenuation at higher temperature are the phonon-phonon interaction also known as Akhiezer loss and that due to thermo elastic relaxation are observed in calcium oxide crystal. At frequencies of ultrasonic range and at higher temperatures in solids, phonon-phonon interaction mechanism is dominating cause for attenuation. Ultrasonic attenuation due to phonon-phonon interaction (α/f2)p-p and thermo elastic relaxation (α/f2)th are evaluated in Calcium Oxide crystal up to an elevated temperature from 100 K - 1500 K along , and crystallographic directions. Temperature dependence of ultrasonic attenuation along different crystallographic direction reveals some typical characteristic features.

Purification of Nanoparticles by Liquid Chromatography for Biomedical and Engineering Applications

Nanoparticles are extensively used for various applications in science, engineering and medicine. Synthesis of nanoparticles with high purity is essential to utilize the same in different fields of science and technology. In the present study, liquid chromatography is utilized to purify the nanoparticles. Predominantly, gold nanoparticles were synthesized from gold auric cholide and preserved in phosphate or citrate buffer. A method to purify gold nanoparticles is essential because of the possible interference from gold auric chloride and other impurities in buffer. Herein, a method has been developed using high performance liquid chromatography to purify gold nanoparticles with 100 nm in size from gold auric chloride and residues. UV-Vis spectroscopy was also done to ascertain the purity of the nanoparticles.
