Higher education plays an important role in all aspects of *** climate change and sustainability into the curriculum is important to prepare future health-care professionals for climate change and sustainability actions to build resilient health *** this study,we evaluated the preparedness,knowledge,and perception regarding climate change and its impact on human health among Indian nursing students.A quantitative descriptive survey was conducted among 644 undergraduate nursing students studying in three institutes in the southern,northern,and western parts of *** used a structured online questionnaire with established validity and reliability to collect *** data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences version 26 *** results showed that more than half of the students reported experiencing excessive increase(362;56.2%)and decrease(374;58.1%)in temperature in recent *** more than three quarters of the students(494;76.7%)accepted the general truth that climate change is mainly caused by human activities,only less than half of the students(309;48.0%)perceived the impact of climate change to be *** quarters of the students(483;75.0%)had a high level of knowledge regarding climate *** students who had a high level of knowledge about climate change exerted a high perceived impact of climate change(χ^(2)=75.47;P<0.01).More than half of the students(50.9%)felt that they needed information about climate change to be included in the nursing curriculum,and only one sixth of the students(16.1%)were highly confident about engaging in climate change-related conversation with *** of the students who participated in the study had basic knowledge about climate change and its impact on human ***,there is an observed gap between knowledge and their preparedness and confidence to engage in climate change ***,we propose to strengthen the nursing curriculum by integra

Magnets, children and the bowel: A dangerous attraction?

Reports of magnet ingestion are increasing rapidly globally. However, multiple magnet ingestion, the subsequent potential complications and the importance of the early identification and proper management remain both under-recognized and underestimated. Published literature on such cases could possibly represent only the tip of an iceberg with press reports, web blogs and government documents highlighting further occurrence of many more such incidents. The increasing number of complications worldwide being reported secondary to magnet ingestion point not only to an acute lack of awareness about this condition among the medical profession but also among parents and carers who will be in most cases the first to pick up on magnet ingestion. There still seems to be no consensus on the management of magnet ingestion with several algorithms being proposed for management. Prevention of this condition remains a much better option than cure. Proper education and improved awareness among parents and carers and frontline medical staff is key in addressing this rapidly emerging problem. The goal of managing such cases of suspected magnet ingestion should be aimed at reducing delays between ingestion time, diagnosis time and intervention time.

Nanoscale chemical segregation to twin interfaces in τ-MnAl-C and resulting effects on the magnetic properties

In this study,aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy coupled with electron energy-loss spectroscopy(STEM-EELS)was used to investigate the atomistic structure and chemical com-position of true twin and order twin boundaries in ferromagneticτ-*** twins and order twins were distinguished based on the diffraction patterns using *** elemental segregation was observed at the coherent true twin boundary but some Mn enrichment within a region of about 1.5-2 nm was found at the incoherent true twin boundary.A transition region with Mn enrichment about 4-6 nm wide was found at the order twin boundary.A carbon cluster with a size of around 5 nm was also found at the twin *** simulations were conducted to study the effect of this chemical seg-regation at twin interfaces on the magnetic *** results showed that the coercivity tends to increase with increasing structural and chemical disorder at the interface.

STEP AP 242 Managed Model-based 3D Engineering:An Application Towards the Automation of Fixture Planning

Fixture design and planning is one of the most important manufacturing activities, playing a pivotal role in deciding the lead time for product development. Fixture design, which affects the part-quality in terms of geometric accuracy and surface finish, can be enhanced by using the product manufacturing information(PMI) stored in the neutral standard for the exchange of product model data(STEP) file, thereby integrating design and manufacturing. The present paper proposes a unique fixture design approach, to extract the geometry information from STEP application protocol(AP) 242 files of computer aided design(CAD) models, for providing automatic suggestions of locator positions and clamping surfaces. Automatic feature extraction software "FiXplan", developed using the programming language C#, is used to extract the part feature, dimension and geometry information. The information from the STEP AP 242 file is deduced using geometric reasoning techniques, which in turn is utilized for fixture planning. The developed software is observed to be adept in identifying the primary, secondary, and tertiary locating faces and locator position configurations of prismatic components. Structural analysis of the prismatic part under different locator positions was performed using commercial finite element method software, ABAQUS, and the optimized locator position was identified on the basis of minimum deformation of the *** area-ratio(base locator enclosed area(%)/work piece base area(%)) for the ideal locator configuration was observed as 33%. Experiments were conducted on a prismatic workpiece using a specially designed fixture, for different locator configurations. The surface roughness and waviness of the machined surfaces were analysed using an Alicona non-contact optical profilometer. Evaluation of diverse classification approaches for land use/cover mapping in a Mediterranean region utilizing Hyperion data

Information on Earth’s land surface cover is commonly obtained through digital image analysis of data acquired from remote sensing *** this study,we evaluated the use of diverse classification techniques in discriminating land use/cover types in a typical Mediterranean setting using Hyperion *** this purpose,the spectral angle mapper(SAM),the object-based and the non-linear spectral unmixing based on artificial neural networks(ANNs)techniques were applied.A further objective had been to investigate the effect of two approaches for training sites selection in the SAM classification,namely of the pixel purity index(PPI)and of the direct selection of training points from the Hyperion imagery assisted by a QuickBird imagery and field-based training *** classification outperformed the other techniques with an overall accuracy of 83%.Sub-pixel classification based on the ANN showed an overall accuracy of 52%,very close to that of SAM(48%).SAM applied using the training sites selected directly from the Hyperion imagery supported by the QuickBird image and the field visits returned an increase accuracy by 16%.Yet,all techniques appeared to suffer from the relatively low spatial resolution of the Hyperion imagery,which affected the spectral separation among the land use/cover classes.

Prospects for discriminating Zingiberaceae species in India using DNA barcodes

We evaluated nine plastid （matK, rbcL, rpoCl, rpoB, rp136-rpsS, ndhJ, trnL-F, tmrnH-psbA, accD） and two nuclear （ITS and ITS2） barcode loci in family Zingiberaceae by analyzing 60 accessions of 20 species belonging to seven genera from India. Bidirectional sequences were recovered for every plastid locus by direct sequencing of polymerase chain reaction （PCR） amplicons in all the accessions tested. However, only 35 （58%） and 4o accessions （66~） yielded ITS and ITS2 sequences, respectively, by direct sequencing. In different bioinformatics analyses, matK and rbcL consistently resolved 15 species （75%） into monophyletic groups and five species into two para- phyletic groups. The 173 ITS sequences, including 138 cloned sequences from 23 accessions, discriminated only 12 species （6o%）, and the remaining species were entered into three paraphyletic groups. Phylogenetic and genealogic analyses of plastid and ITS sequences imply the possible occurrence ofnatural hybridizations in the evolutionary past in giving rise to species paraphyly and intragenomic ITS heterogeneity in the species tested. The results support using matK and rbcL loci for barcoding Zingiberaceae members and highlight the poor utility of iTS and the highly regarded ITS2 in barcoding this family, and also caution against proposing ITS loci for barcoding taxa based on limited sampling.

Hypertension is a common cardiovascular problem worldwide. As with any other disease it is important to assess the severity of the disease. However the present classification of hypertension by the Joint National Committee in its seventh report （JNC 7） with numerical values staging the severity of hypertension is theoretically correct but difficult to apply in practice （Table 1）. Admittedly this is a step in the right direction with lesser number of stages compared to the sixth report.

Neurostimulation remains the mainstay of treatment for patients with faecal incontinence who fails to respond to available conservative *** nerve stimulation(SNS)is the main form of neurostimulation that is in use *** tibial nerve stimulation(PTNS)-both the percutaneous and the transcutaneous routes-remains a relatively new entry in *** in its infancy,PTNS holds promise to be an effective,patient friendly,safe and cheap ***,presently PTNS only appears to have a minor role with SNS having the limelight in treating patients with faecal *** seems to have arisen as the strong,uniform and evidence based data on SNS remains to have been unchallenged yet by the weak,disjointed and unsupported evidence for both percutaneous and transcutaneous *** use of PTNS is slowly gaining ***,several questions remain unanswered in the delivery of *** have raised dilemmas which as long as they remain unsolved can considerably weaken the argument that PTNS could offer a viable alternative to *** paper reviews available information on PTNS and focuses on these dilemmas in the light of existing evidence.
