Genetic diversity,phylogenetic position and morphometric analysis of Astacus colchicus(Decapoda,Astacidae):a new insight into Eastern European crayfish fauna

The phylogeny of European crayfish fauna,especially with respect to Eastern European species,is still far from being completely *** fill this gap,we analyzed most of the European crayfish species focusing on the phylogenetic position of the endemic crayfish Astacus colchicus,inhabiting *** mitochondrial and one nuclear marker were used to study evolutionary relationships among European crayfish species,resulting in the unique phylogenetic position of *** indicating independent species status to *** analyses revealed a deep molecular divergence of *** in comparison to ***(6.5–10.9%in mtDNA and 1.1%in nDNA)as well as to Pontastacus leptodactylus and ***(5.5–10.0%in mtDNA and 1.4–2.4%in nDNA).Absent ventral process on second male pleopod and abdominal somites II and III with pleura rounded lacking prominent spines clearly indicate taxonomic assignment to the genus Astacus;however,the species is distributed almost in the middle of Ponto-Caspian area typical by occurrence of the genus *** morphological indices linked to head length,carapace,and total body length and width were found to demonstrate apparent differences between *** and *** this study provides a novel insight into European crayfish phylogeography,we also point out the gaps in comprehensive study of the *** species complex,which could reveal details about the potential species status of particular species and subspecies within this genus.

Deadwood position matters:Diversity and biomass of saproxylic beetles in a temperate beech forest

Deadwood plays a key role for biodiversity in forests.A significant number of beetles from this group are currently listed as endangered in the Red *** addition to other management recommendations,there have been recent efforts to enrich stands with dead wood to promote *** important parameter for forestry enterprises is the optimization of these *** study investigated the abundance,species richness,gamma diversity,conservation value and biomass of saproxylic beetles in natural forests using window traps.A total of 89traps were used for saproxylic beetle monitoring,of which 29 were placed on lying logs,30 on snags and 30 as controls in forest stand space.A total of 35,011 beetles were recorded in 564 species(61 families).Notably,20,515 of these belong to saproxylic beetles(59%)in 311 species(55%),with 62 classified as Red-List species(20%).In the group of'all saproxylic beetles',the results indicate that a diversity and y diversity(q=0)remain consistent across various deadwood types,whileβdiversity showed significant *** differences were found in the Red-List species group,where a diversity and y diversity differed,with higher values observed in *** based total species richness of site was estimated to be 391 species,including 74 Red-Listed *** the sample coverage of the studied stand categories showed that all saproxylic species exhibit a pronounced preference for inhabiting areas featuring lying ***,Red-List species mainly inhabit snags,withβdiversity being more similar to snags and forest stand ***,both the conservation value(weighted average by conservation status)and beetle biomass are significantly highest in snags,whereas stand space shows the lowest values across all measured saproxylic beetle ***,the use of traps set on the poles in forest stand space resulted in an underestimation of the actual stand richness by 20%-25%.Our results support th

Unrecognized diversity in New Guinean crayfish species (Decapoda, Parastacidae): The evidence from molecular data

The phylogenetic relationships among imported ornamental crayfish belonging to the genus Cherax were inferred from a combined dataset of 3 mitochondrial genes(COI,16S and 12S)and by comparison with available GenBank sequences of 14 Cherax ***,the concordance of previously described species obtained from a wholesaler(Cherax boesemani,*** and ***)with available GenBank sequences was verified based on COI with special respect to comparison with sequences assigned as Cherax ***cently described species ***,*** and *** belong to the northern group of Cherax *** and analysis with other GenBank COI sequences show previously unreported diversity of New Guinean species,suggesting 5 putative new ***,species assigned to the subgenus Astaconephrops do not form a monophyletic clade;this subgenus should be reappraised relative to the purported typical morphological characteristic of the uncalcified patch on male *** importation of crayfish underscores the importance of accurate species *** of basic molecular methods is a necessary requisite for documenting occurrence,abundance and population trends of target ***,it helps to support eventual conservation decision-making by stakeholders.

Image-based appearance acquisition of effect coatings

Paint manufacturers strive to introduce unique visual effects to coatings in order to visually communicate functional properties of products using value-added, customized design. However, these effects often feature complex, angularly dependent, spatiallyvarying behavior, thus representing a challenge in digital reproduction. In this paper we analyze several approaches to capturing spatially-varying appearances of effect coatings. We compare a baseline approach based on a bidirectional texture function(BTF) with four variants of half-difference parameterization. Through a psychophysical study, we determine minimal sampling along individual dimensions of this *** conclude that, compared to BTF, bivariate representations better preserve visual fidelity of effect coatings, better characterizing near-specular behavior and significantly the restricting number of images which must be captured.

Tuning of textural properties of germanosilicate zeolites ITH and IWW by acidic leaching

The possibility to adjust textural properties of ITH and IWW zeolites by the variation of conditions（***, p H, duration） of acidic leaching was shown. While the growth of the temperature of acid treatment caused the increasing amount of leached Ge atoms and enhancing volumes of both micro and mesopores at 80 ℃, the mesopore volume in ITH（Si/Ge = 3.4 and 5.8） and IWW（Si/Ge = 3.3） zeolites changed with the duration of the treatment（p H = 2; T = 80 ℃） as follows： 96 h 〈 1 h 〈 24 h. Independently on the chemical composition and zeolite topology, the treatment of germanosilicate zeolites at p H = 2–7 resulted in development of both micro and mesoporosity accompanied by the extraction of substantial amount of Ge atoms, while the increasing acidity up to p H = 0 resulted in some reduction of Ge extraction and in the development of mesopores at maintained value of micropore volume when compared with initial germanosilicates. The higher activity（i.e. number of reactant molecules converted per active site） of germanosilicate with modified micro-mesoporous channel system in comparison with parent IWW zeolite in esterification of levulinic acid was attributed to enhanced accessibility of active sites.

Superior Properties of Mg–4Y–3RE–Zr Alloy Prepared by Powder Metallurgy

Magnesium alloys are important materials for application in the automotive and aviation industries. During the last few years, the number of possible applications as biodegradable implants in medicine has grown. Mg-RE（rare earth） alloys belong to the most advanced group of products, offering the best combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Among these materials, WE43（Mg-Y-Nd）is a very well-known commercial alloy that has been extensively studied for applications at increased temperatures and also in organisms. Although this material has been described, there are still possibilities to improve its properties and subsequently expand its applicability. Powder metallurgy has already been used for the preparation of magnesium alloys with superior mechanical properties and occasionally superior corrosion properties. Therefore, the present paper is oriented toward the preparation of Mg-4Y-3RE-Zr（WE43） alloy by the powder metallurgy technique（WE43-PM） and comparison of the final properties with the product of extrusion of as-cast ingot（WE43-IM）. Our processing leads to a partial improvement in the mechanical properties and superior corrosion resistance of WE43-PM. The texture strength of WE43-PM was low, and therefore, anisotropy of mechanical properties was suppressed.

This study describes the corrosion resistance of extruded,and extruded with post-processing annealing,Mg–7.5 Li–3 Al–1 Zn *** results demonstrate that extrusion at 350°C with an extrusion speed 0.5 s^(-1) does not lead to the full recrystallization of the alloy,and the material still exhibits a dendritic *** post-processing annealing triggers the microstructure transformation,and the relative composition of the alloy *** ratio ofβ(Li)toα(Mg)in the extruded alloy was 29–71%;after annealing amount ofβ(Li)increased,and the ratio ofβ(Li)toα(Mg)in the annealed alloy was 35–65%.Corrosion testing shows that in 3.5 wt%Na Cl the extruded alloys immediately undergo strong *** a result of the subsequent annealing,an improvement of corrosion resistance is *** higher amount ofβ(Li)in the annealed alloy reduces the area ratio of cathodic to anodic sites of corrosion,and this makes the annealed alloy more resistive under the analyzed conditions.

Diversity of click beetles in managed nonnative coniferous and native beech stands: Consequences of changes in the structural and species composition of tree stands in Central Europe

The natural composition of forests has undergone significant changes over recent centuries.A closer-to-natural tree species composition has long been perceived as key to a high *** investigated the impact on communities of click beetles(Elateridae)caused by changes in the tree species composition of spruce monocultures compared to reference sites of recently unmanaged natural beech *** collect data,passive interception traps were distributed within managed spruce stands of different age classes and natural beech forests of various developmental *** beetle species richness was slightly but not significantly higher in the beech *** saproxylic species group was significantly more common in the spruce stands,whereas the group of nonsaproxylic species was significantly more abundant in the beech *** the commercial stands,the significantly highest species richness was in the clearings(0–10-year-old stands),and at this forest age class,the vast majority of the beetle species occurred in the spruce *** the developmental stages of the natural forest,a slightly higher beetle richness was found at the disintegration *** study results suggested that different tree species compositions and stand structures affect the communities of click beetles and substantially change their species composition and thus their response to external ***,management of stands using diverse silvicultural systems is recommended for creating diverse ecological niches in forests.

The diameter of beech snags is an important factor for saproxylic beetle richness: Implications for forest management and conservation

Snags are an important component of beech forests that promote ***,their occurrence is completely marginal in managed *** snags in these stands would greatly enhance *** investigated whether snag dimensions were important for saproxylic beetle richness since they were easily transferable parameters to forest management and assessed the presence of other snag microhabitats affecting beetle *** collection was performed using passive flight traps placed on thirty snags in a recent beech reserve.A total of 6706 adults belonging to 231 saproxylic species(53 Red List species,23%)were *** results showed that the most important snag parameters were the diameter(thickness)and canopy openness of the surrounding *** occurrence of Fomes fomentarius,the volume of snag and decay class 3 were marginally significant in terms of the preference of all saproxylic *** diversity was reduced by an advanced degree of decay and a surprisingly deep stem *** dividing snag thickness into categories(70 cm DBH),we found that categories with snag diameter greater than 35 cm showed little differences in all saproxylic and Red List species richness and diversity indices and exhibited the highest similarity in beetle *** recommendations to forest managers in terms of optimization and simplification of practical procedures,we suggest actively creating high stumps to act as snags greater than 35 cm in DBH diameter to promote biodiversity in beech management stands.

A hydrotreating NiMo/γ-Al2O3 catalyst(12 wt% Mo and 1.1 wt% Ni) was prepared by impregnation of the support with the Anderson-type heteropolyoxomolybdate(NH4)4Ni(OH)*** impregnation of the support,it was modified with an aqueous solution of H3BO3,Co(NO3)2,or Ni(NO3)*** catalysts were investigated using N2 adsorption,O2 chemisorption,X-ray diffraction,UV-Vis spectroscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,temperature-programmed reduction,temperature-programmed desorption,and X-ray photoelectron *** addition of Co,Ni,or B influenced the Al2O3 phase composition and gave increased catalytic activity for 1-benzothiophene hydrodesulfurization(HDS).X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed that the prior loading of Ni,Co or B increased the degree of sulfidation of the NiMo/γ-Al2O3 *** highest HDS activity was observed with the NiMo/γ-Al2O3 catalyst with prior loaded Ni.
