Coupled large earthquakes in the Baikal rift system: Response to bifurcations in nonlinear resonance hysteresis

The current lithospheric geodynamics and tectonophysics in the Baikal rift are discussed in terms of a nonlinear oscillator with *** nonlinear oscillator model is applicable to the area because stress change shows up as quasi-periodic inharmonic oscillations at rifting attractor structures （RAs）.The model is consistent with the space-time patterns of regional seismicity in which coupled large earthquakes,proximal in time but distant in space,may be a response to bifurcations in nonlinear resonance hysteresis in a system of three oscillators corresponding to the rifting *** space-time distribution of coupled MLH ＞ 5.5 events has been stable for the period of instrumental seismicity,with the largest events occurring in pairs,one shortly after another,on two ends of the rift system and with couples of smaller events in the central part of the *** event couples appear as peaks of earthquake ‘migration＇ rate with an approximately decadal *** the energy accumulated at RAs is released in coupled large events by the mechanism of nonlinear oscillators with *** new knowledge,with special focus on space-time rifting attractors and bifurcations in a system of nonlinear resonance hysteresis,may be of theoretical and practical value for earthquake prediction *** of the results into the nearest future indicates the probability of such a bifurcation in the region,i.e.,there is growing risk of a pending M ≈ 7 coupled event to happen within a few years.

The chemical transformation of natural oils provides alternatives to limited fossil fuels and produces compounds with added value for the chemical *** selective deoxygenation of natural oils to diesel-ranged hydrocarbons,bio-jet fuels,or fatty alcohols with controllable selectivity is especially attractive in natural oil feedstock *** review presents recent progress in catalytic deoxygenation of natural oils or related model compounds(e.g.,fatty acids)to renewable liquid fuels(green diesel and bio-jet fuels)and valuable fatty alcohols(unsaturated and saturated fatty alcohols).Besides,it discusses and compares the existing and potential strategies to control the product selectivity over heterogeneous *** research conducted and reviewed has only addressed the production of one category;therefore,a new integrative vision exploring how to direct the process toward fuel and/or chemicals is urgently ***,work conducted to date addressing the development of new catalysts and studying the influence of the reaction parameters(e.g.,temperature,time and hydrogen pressure)is summarized and critically discussed from a green and sustainable perspective using efficiency indicators(e.g.,yields,selectivity,turnover frequencies and catalysts lifetime).special attention has been given to the chemical transformations occurring to identify key descriptors to tune the selectivity toward target products by manipulating the reaction conditions and the structures of the ***,the challenges and future research goals to develop novel and holistic natural oil biorefineries are *** a result,this critical review provides the readership with appropriate information to selectively control the transformation of natural oils into either biofuels and/or value-added *** new flexible vision can help pave the wave to suit the present and future market needs.

New trends are emerging in the field of processing sheet metal,both in steel and aluminum. In one hand,a much better flatness is required when cutting thick strips into blanks in order to eliminate the inner trapped *** is very important when those apparently flat blanks have to be recut it in laser cutting *** new stretch levelling system obtains a much better flatness than conventional roll levellers and represents a good alternative when extremely good flatness is required. In the other hand,more productivity is needed when blanking shaped *** far,the press blanking lines had a limitation impossed by the ***,new servopresses allows to adapt the stroke of the press according to every die,increasing the production in rates of about 20%. Finally,requirements for cutting aluminum and steel in the same line are more and more demanding. New vacuum stackers and roll levellers for both materials are developed.

substituted imidazoles are of interest because of their useful biological activities. While several methods have been developed for the synthesis of such compounds, some of the reported methods utilize corrosive or toxic catalysts. We report a bismuth (III) triflate catalyzed multicomponent synthesis of 2,4,5-trisubstituted imidazoles. Bismuth (III) compounds are attractive from a green chemistry perspective because they are remarkably non-toxic and non-corrosive. Multicomponent syntheses save time and generate less waste.

BACKGROUND Biliary drainage,either by the stent-in-stent(sIs)or side-by-side(sBs)technique,is often required when treating a malignant hilar biliary obstruction(MHBO).Both methods differ from each other and have distinct *** To compare both techniques regarding their efficacy and safety in achieving drainage of *** A comprehensive search of multiple electronic databases(MEDLINE,Embase,LILACs,BIremE,Cochrane)was conducted and grey literature from their inception until December 2020 with no restrictions regarding the year of publication or language,since there was at least an abstract in *** included studies compared sIs and sBs techniques through endoscopic retrograde *** analyzed included technical and clinical success,early and late adverse events(AEs),stent patency,reintervention,and procedure-related *** Four cohort studies and one randomized controlled trial evaluating a total of 250 patients(127 in the sIs group and 123 in the sBs group)were included in this *** were no statistically significant differences between the two groups concerning the evaluated outcomes,except for stent patency,which was higher in the sIs compared with the sBs technique[mean difference(d)=33.31;95%confidence interval:9.73 to 56.90,I2=45%,P=0.006].CONCLUsION The sIs method showed superior stent patency when compared to sBs for achieving bilateral drainage in *** techniques are equivalent in terms of technical success,clinical success,rates of both early and late AEs,reintervention,and procedure-related mortality.

BACKGROUND Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease corresponds to a clinical entity that affects liver function triggered by the accumulation of fat in the liver and is linked with metabolic *** To evaluate the effects of the intragastric balloon(IGB)in patients with metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease through the assessment of liver enzymes,imaging and several metabolic *** A comprehensive search was done of multiple electronic databases(MEDLINE,EMBAsE,LILACs,Cochrane and Google scholar)and grey literature from their inception until February *** criteria involved patients with a body mass index>25 kg/m2 with evidence or previous diagnosis of hepatic *** analyzed before and after 6 mo of IGB removal were alanine aminotransferase(IU/L),gamma-glutamyltransferase(IU/L),glycated hemoglobin(%),triglycerides(mg/dL),systolic blood pressure(mmHg),homeostatic model assessment,abdominal circumference(cm),body mass index(kg/m2)and liver volume(cm3).REsULTs Ten retrospective cohort studies evaluating a total of 508 patients were *** 6 mo of IGB placement,this significantly reduced alanine aminotransferase[mean difference(MD):10.2,95%confidence interval(CI):8.12-12.3],gammaglutamyltransferase(MD:9.41,95%CI:6.94-11.88),glycated hemoglobin(MD:0.17%,95%CI:0.03-0.31),triglycerides(MD:38.58,95%CI:26.65-50.51),systolic pressure(MD:7.27,95%CI:4.79-9.76),homeostatic model assessment(MD:2.23%,95%CI:1.41-3.04),abdominal circumference(MD:12.12,95%CI:9.82-14.41)and body mass index(MD:5.07,95%CI:4.21-5.94).CONCLUsION IGB placement showed significant efficacy in improving alanine aminotransferase and gamma-glutamyltransferase levels in patients with metabolic dysfunctionassociated fatty liver disease as well as improving metabolic markers related to disease progression.

Electrolytic deposition of super-smart composite coating of Zn-V2O5-NbO2 on low carbon steel for defence application

Despite the massive usages of low carbon steel in automobile for engineering components, its corrosion and high friction coefficient in aggressive environment make it limited in service. This paper is aimed at modifying low carbon steel structural component with thin film composite for enhanced mechanical and corrosion properties. The steel structure was electrodeposited with Zn-V_2 O_5 and embedded with varied NbO_2 weight concentration of 6-12 wt % based electrolyte. scanning electron microscope(sEM) and high optical microscope was used to study the microstructural evolution of the fabricated coatings. The thermal stability of the fabricated coatings was studied in an isothermal furnace at 300 ℃ and 600 ℃ and further characterized using a high tech optical microscope. Potentiodynamic polarization technique was used to investigate the corrosion behavior of the composites in 3.65% NaCl. From the result, the effect of NbO_2 on Zn-V_2 O_5-NbO_2 was massive with improved crystal grain within the coatings lattices. The coating possesses strong metallurgical bonding and good corrosion resistance properties of about 0.315 mm/yr corrosion rate compare to 4.1 mm/yr of as-received sample. No doubt the impact of thermal shock on the resilient characteristics of the composite coating was moderate owing to the stable adherent properties of the deposited coatings.

Rare earth metals sorption recovery from uranium in situ leaching process solutions

sorption characteristics of ion exchange resins 001 × 7, 005 × 8, D72 regarding rare earth metals （rem） during extraction from barren solution of uranium sorption in dynamic conditions were investigated. It was identified that D72 resin capacity on analyzed rem was 2.46 ***-3 after passing 220 BV （bed volume） of initial solution with 95 % recovery of element of rem with the lowest affinity. Researches on rem desorption in dynamic conditions from investigated ion exchange resins by solution of 1.7 mol.L-1 HNO3 and 8.0 mol.L-1 NHnNO3 with 0.2 mol.L-1 HNO3 passing were carded out. It was identified that using desorption solution based on ammonium nitrate allows to achieve acceptable recovery degree of rem from the resin. The possibility of organization of a circulating desorption solution system increases the perspectives of nitrate ammonium solution usage.
