Microscale insights into the influence of grinding media on spodumene micro-flotation using mixed anionic/cationic collectors

Here,the influence of grinding media with different shapes on the flotation performance of spodumene and its potential mechanism from microscale insights was investigated using a single mineral flotation experiment,X-ray diffraction(XRD)test,scanning electron microscopy combined with energy dispersive spectrometry(SEM-EDS),atomic force microscope(AFM)and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).The flotation data indicated that under anionic/cationic(sodium oleate(NaOL)/DDA)collectors system,the rod milled spodumene has a higher floatability than ball milled ones.XRD results confirmed that rod medium makes spodumene exposed more{110}and{100}planes,while ball medium makes spodumene exposed more{010}planes.The typical anisotropic surface of spodumene makes the surface of rod milled spodumene possess more Al sites,further confirmed by SEM-EDS and XPS results.Additionally,it was found that the rod milled spodumene presents a larger value of elongation and flatness,which are parameters closely related to bubble adhesion.AFM analysis indicated that rod milled products have a rougher surface,while ball milled products have a smoother surface.Consequently,the rod medium enhanced the adsorption of NaOL/DDA on the spodumene surfaces.This work provides theoretical guidance for optimizing the separation of spodumene from the perspective of grinding.

The running correlation coefficient(RCC)is useful for capturing temporal variations in correlations between two time series.The local running correlation coefficient(LRCC)is a widely used algorithm that directly applies the Pearson correlation to a time window.A new algorithm called synthetic running correlation coefficient(SRCC)was proposed in 2018 and proven to be rea-sonable and usable;however,this algorithm lacks a theoretical demonstration.In this paper,SRCC is proven theoretically.RCC is only meaningful when its values at different times can be compared.First,the global means are proven to be the unique standard quantities for comparison.SRCC is the only RCC that satisfies the comparability criterion.The relationship between LRCC and SRCC is derived using statistical methods,and SRCC is obtained by adding a constraint condition to the LRCC algorithm.Dividing the temporal fluctuations into high-and low-frequency signals reveals that LRCC only reflects the correlation of high-frequency signals;by contrast,SRCC reflects the correlations of high-and low-frequency signals simultaneously.Therefore,SRCC is the ap-propriate method for calculating RCCs.

The development of functional composites with excellent thermal management capabilities and electro-magnetic interference(EMI)shielding has become extremely urgent for keeping up with the continuous improvement of the operating speed and efficiency for electronic equipment.In this study,the biolog-ical wood-derived porous carbon(WPC)was determined as the supporting material to encapsulating polyethylene glycol(PEG),and a series of WPC/PEG/Fe_(3)O_(4) phase change composites(PCCs)with excel-lent shape stability,EMI shielding and thermal management capabilities were prepared via a simple vac-uum impregnation method.The Fe_(3)O_(4) magnetic particles modified PCCs have greatly improved the EMI shielding effectiveness(SE).The EMI SE of WP-4(7.5 wt.% Fe_(3)O_(4) in PEG)can be up to 55.08 dB between 8.2−12.4 GHz,however,the WP-0 without Fe_(3)O_(4) addition is only 40.08 dB.Meanwhile,the absorption ratio of electromagnetic waves(EMW)has also increased from 75.02%(WP-0)to 85.56%(WP-4),which effectively prevents secondary pollution.In addition,after wrapping a thin layer of polydimethylsiloxane resin(PDMS),the obtained WP-4 can maintain a high heat storage capacity(109.52 J/g)and good wa-ter stability.In short,the prepared WPC/PEG/Fe_(3)O_(4) PCCs have great potential application value in the thermal management and electromagnetic shielding requirements for electronic devices.

The Mohn Ridge separates the Greenland Sea and the Lofoten Basin.Previous studies identified the export across the Mohn Ridge(EMR)from the Greenland Basin into the Lofoten Basin using water mass analysis and the tracer diffusion method,but there is still lack of direct current measurements.A surface mooring with four current meters was deployed on the Mohn Ridge from June 5 to June 18 in 2015,when three cyclones passed in the adjacent area.In the absence of cyclones,the flow on the Mohn Ridge was northeastward,parallel to the ridge.When cyclones appeared,the EMR occurred to transport Greenland Sea water into the Lofoten Basin.The probable mechanism is the sea level height variation caused by the perturbation of the low pressure of cyclones,which yields an outward pressure gradient force to drive the outflow.Our results suggest that the outflow is intermittent and only happens during cyclone activities.The annual mean volume flux of EMR was roughly estimated by the limited data,which is about 3.8×10^(6)m^(3)/s,a little bit smaller than the estimation based on volume conservation.The results indicate that the contribution of the cyclonic storms to EMR is a greatly important mechanism that potentially influences the global thermohaline circulation through the Greenland-Scotland Ridge overflow.

Molecular targeted therapy has become an emerging promising strategy in cancer treatment,and screening the agents targeting at cancer cell specific targets is very desirable for cancer treatment.Our previous study firstly found that a secretory peroxidase of class III derived from foxtail millet bran(FMBP)exhibited excellent targeting anti-colorectal cancer(CRC)activity in vivo and in vitro,whereas its underlying target remains unclear.The highlight of present study focuses on the finding that cell surface glucose-regulated protein 78(cs GRP78)abnormally located on CRC is positively correlated with the anti-CRC effects of FMBP,indicating it serves as a potential target of FMBP against CRC.Further,we demonstrated that the combination of FMBP with the nucleotide binding domain(NBD)of cs GRP78interfered with the downstream activation of signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)in CRC cells,thus promoting the intracellular accumulation of reactive oxygen species(ROS)and cell grown inhibition.These phenomena were further confirmed in nude mice tumor model.Collectively,our study highlights cs GRP78 acts as an underlying target of FMBP against CRC,uncovering the clinical potential of FMBP as a targeted agent for CRC in the future.

Human cancers typically express a high level of tumor-promoting mutant p53 protein(Mutp53)with a minimal level of tumor-suppressing wild-type p53 protein(WTp53).In this regard,inducing Mutp53 degradation while activating WTp53 is a viable strategy for precise anti-tumor therapy.Herein,a new carrier-free nanoprodrug(i.e.,Mn-ZnO_(2)nanoparticles)was developed for concurrent delivery of dual Zn-Mn ions and reactive oxygen species(ROS)within tumor to regulate the p53 protein for high anti-tumor efficacy.In response to the mild tumor acidic environment,the released Zn^(2+)and H_(2)O_(2)from Mn-ZnO_(2)NPs induced ubiquitination-mediated proteasomal degradation of Mutp53,while the liberative Mn^(2+)and increased ROS level activated the ATM-p53-Bax pathway to elevate WTp53 level.Both in vitro and in vivo results demonstrated that pH-responsive decomposition of Mn-ZnO2 NPs could effectively elevate the intracellular dual Zn-Mn ions and ROS level and subsequently generate the cytotoxic hydroxyl radical(·OH)through the Fenton-like reaction.With the integration of multiple functions(i.e.,carrier-free ion and ROS delivery,tumor accumulation,p53 protein modulation,toxic·OH generation,and pH-activated MRI contrast)in a single nanosystem,Mn-ZnO_(2)NPs demonstrate its superiority as a promising nanotherapeutics for p53-mutated tumor therapy.

Background Many countries have already banned the use of antibiotics in animal husbandry,making it extremely difficult to maintain animal health in livestock breeding.In the livestock industry,there is an urgent need to develop alternatives to antibiotics which will not lead to drug resistance on prolonged use.In this study,eighteen castrated bulls were randomly divided into two groups.The control group(CK)was fed the basal diet,while the antimicrobial peptide group(AP)was fed the basal diet supplemented with 8 g of antimicrobial peptides in the basal diet for the experimental period of 270 d.They were then slaughtered to measure production performance,and the ruminal contents were isolated for metagenomic and metabolome sequencing analysis.Result The results showed that antimicrobial peptides could improve the daily weight,carcass weight,and net meat weight of the experimental animals.Additionally,the rumen papillae diameter and the micropapillary density in the AP were significantly greater than those in the CK.Furthermore,the determination of digestive enzymes and fermentation parameters showed that the contents of protease,xylanase,andβ-glucoside in the AP were greater than those in the CK.However,lipase content in the CK was greater than that in the AP.Moreover,the content of acetate,propionate,butyrate,and valerate was found to be greater in AP than those in CK.The metagenomic analysis annotated 1993 differential microorganisms at the species level.The KEGG enrichment of these microorganisms revealed that the enrichment of drug resistance-related pathways was dramatically decreased in the AP,whereas the enrichment of immune-related pathways was significantly increased.There was also a significant reduction in the types of viruses in the AP.187 probiotics with significant differences were found,135 of which were higher in AP than in CK.It was also found that the antimicrobial mechanism of the antimicrobial peptides was quite specific.Seven low-abundance microorganisms(Acinetobactersp.Ac1271,Aequorivita soeso

In this paper, an approximate analytical algorithm in the form of direct Fourier reconstruction is obtained for the recon- struction of data functions arisen from ^-scheme short-scan sin- gle-photon emission computed tomography（SPECT） with uniform attenuation, and the modified central slice theorem is developed. Numerical simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effec- tiveness of the developed method.

The Beaufort Gyre （BG） was spun up in the last decade which is an important factor in regulating the variation of the upper ocean. The heat content and freshwater content of the upper ocean increased gradually in the Canada Basin, as did momentum input. Both the geostrophic wind curl and freshwater content could contribute to the spin-up of BG. However, even though there is no change of the wind field the increasing freshwater alone could result in the spin-up of BG. In this study we show that the Pacific Water is difficult to flow into the central basin as the BG spins up and the maximum temperature of the Pacific Summer Water （PSW） experienced a dramatic decrease inside the BG in 2005 and 2009 due to a change of flow pathway of PSW. The enhancement of Ekman Pumping （EP） contributed to the deepening of the Pacific Winter Water by piling up more freshwater. This change of water column dynamics has also contributed to the deepening ofthe Atlantic Water core after 2007. The EP decreased significantly in 2012 （indicating a spin down of BG） and the direction of Ekman transport turned to the north, which favoured the release of freshwater that had resided in the basin for years.
