Historical biogeography and evolutionary diversification of Lilium(Liliaceae): New insights from plastome phylogenomics

Here, we infer the historical biogeography and evolutionary diversification of the genus Lilium. For this purpose, we used the complete plastomes of 64 currently accepted species in the genus Lilium(14plastomes were newly sequenced) to recover the phylogenetic backbone of the genus and a timecalibrated phylogenetic framework to estimate biogeographical history scenarios and evolutionary diversification rates of Lilium. Our results suggest that ancient climatic changes and geological tectonic activities jointly shaped the distribution range and drove evolutionary radiation of Lilium, including the Middle Miocene Climate Optimum(MMCO), the late Miocene global cooling, as well as the successive uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP) and the strengthening of the monsoon climate in East Asia during the late Miocene and the Pliocene. This case study suggests that the unique geological and climatic events in the Neogene of East Asia, in particular the uplift of QTP and the enhancement of monsoonal climate, may have played an essential role in formation of uneven distribution of plant diversity in the Northern Hemisphere.

The high critical electric field strength of Ga_(2)O_(3)enables higher operating voltages and reduced switching losses in power electronic devices.Suitable Schottky metals and epitaxial films are essential for further enhancing device performance.In this work,the fabrication of vertical Ga_(2)O_(3)barrier diodes with three different barrier metals was carried out on an n--Ga_(2)O_(3)homogeneous epitaxial film deposited on an n+-β-Ga_(2)O_(3)substrate by metal-organic chemical vapor deposition,excluding the use of edge terminals.The ideal factor,barrier height,specific on-resistance,and breakdown voltage characteristics of all devices were investigated at room temperature.In addition,the vertical Ga_(2)O_(3)barrier diodes achieve a higher breakdown volt-age and exhibit a reverse leakage as low as 4.82×10^(-8)A/cm^(2)by constructing a NiO/Ga_(2)O_(3)heterojunction.Therefore,Ga_(2)O_(3)power detailed investigations into Schottky barrier metal and NiO/Ga_(2)O_(3)heterojunction of Ga_(2)O_(3)homogeneous epitaxial films are of great research potential in high-efficiency,high-power,and high-reliability applications.

N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)is a dynamic and reversible epigenetic regulation.As the most prevalent internal post-transcriptional modification in eukaryotic RNA,it participates in the regulation of gene expression through various mechanisms,such as mRNA splicing,nuclear export,localization,translation efficiency,mRNA stability,and structural transformation.The involvement of m^(6)A in the regulation of gene expression depends on the specific recognition of m^(6)A-modified RNA by reader proteins.In the pathogenesis and treatment of liver disease,studies have found that the expression levels of key genes that promote or inhibit the development of liver disease are regulated by m^(6)A modification,in which abnormal expression of reader proteins determines the fate of these gene transcripts.In this review,we introduce m^(6)A readers,summarize the recognition and regulatory mechanisms of m^(6)A readers on mRNA,and focus on the biological functions and mechanisms of m^(6)A readers in liver cancer,viral hepatitis,non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD),hepatic fibrosis(HF),acute liver injury(ALI),and other liver diseases.This information is expected to be of high value to researchers deciphering the links between m^(6)A readers and human liver diseases.

Melt polymerization synthesis of a class of robust self-shaped olefin-linked COF foams as high-efficiency separators

The practical applications of crystalline porous materials toward industrial separations require shaping them into robust monoliths(e.g., foams). The current methods are often complicated, environmentally unfriendly, and unscalable, significantly hampering their practical application. Herein, we report a scalable, facile “one-step thermomolding” method to fabricate a class of hierarchically olefin-linked covalent organic framework(COF) foams via melt polymerization. The obtained pure COF foams possess higher crystallinity and porosity than literature, good moldability, and processability, greatly benefiting their practical applications(e.g., efficient oil-water separation with 99% removal efficiency and >100 cycle reusability). Moreover, a COF exhibiting the smallest(0.58 nm) eclipsed stacking pore among all 2-dimensional COFs with neutral skeletons is first fabricated via this protocol, demonstrating good C2 H2 purification performance and recyclability, surpassing the current benchmark materials. We believe that this facile fabrication strategy can promote access to a broad diversity of new COF foams and enlighten further avenues for green routes to large-scale synthesis and usage of COFs.

To the Editor:Even with the emergence of highly active antiretroviral therapy,human immunodeficiency virus type 1(HIV-1)remains a serious public health problem worldwide.The widespread use of antiretroviral therapy(ART)has,on the one hand,significantly improved life expectancy in patients infected with HIV-1;on the other hand,it has inevitably brought along with it a difficult problem—viral resistance.Viral resistance is a common phenomenon evolutionarily,particularly in patients with poor adherence and suboptimal drug levels.

Effect of dimensional expansion on carrier transport behaviors of the hexagonal Bi-based perovskite crystals

All-inorganic Cs_(3)Bi_(2)I_(9)(CBI)halide perovskites are sought to be candidate for photoelectrical materials because of their low toxicity and satisfactory stability.Unfortunately,the discrete molecular[Bi2I9]3−clusters limit the charge-transport behaviors.Herein,the defect halide perovskite based on trivalent Bi^(3+)is expanded to Cs_(3)Bi_(2)I_(6)Br_(3)(CBIB).Centimeter-size CBIB single crystal(Φ15×70 mm^(3))was grown by the vertical Bridgeman method.The powder X-ray diffraction analysis shows that CBIB has structure with lattice parameters of a=b=8.223Å,c=10.024Å,α=β=90°andγ=120°.The density functional theory(DFT)calculations demonstrate that the charge density distribution was enhanced after the dimensional expansion.The enhancement of carrier transport ability of(00l)in-plane is characterized before and after dimensional improvement.The obtained CBIB(001)exhibited an electron mobility up to 40.03 cm^(2)V^(−1)s^(−1)by time-of-flight(TOF)technique,higher than 26.46 cm^(2)V^(−1)s^(−1)of CBI(001).Furthermore,the X-ray sensitivity increases from 707.81μC Gy^(−1)cm^(−2)for CBI(001)to 3194.59μC Gy−1 cm^(−2)for CBIB(001).This research will deepen our understanding of Bi-based perovskite materials and afford more promising strategies for lead-free perovskite optoelectronic devices modification.

Effectiveness and safety of acupuncture in treatment of pregnancyrelated symptoms:a systematic review and Meta-analysis

OBJECTIVE:To systematically evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture(AM)in the treatment of pregnancyrelated symptoms such as acute vomiting during pregnancy.METHODS:We comprehensively searched the available literature up to November 2021,including Pub Med,Embase,Cochrane Library,Chinese Biomedical Literature Database,and China National Knowledge Infrastructure Database,for randomized controlled trials(RCTs)on AM for the treatment of severe vomiting,insomnia,pharyngeal and pelvic pain,mood abnormalities,and dyspepsia during pregnancy.RESULTS:Sixteen RCTs with a cumulative sample size of 1178 cases were included.Of these,964 patients were included in the Meta-analysis.The Meta-analysis results showed that AM was more efficient than Western medicine in treating discomfort during pregnancy[odds ratio(OR)=1.19,95%confidence interval(CI)(1.11,1.28),P<0.01].AM was better than the control group in improving the visual analog scale scores[standard mean difference(SMD)=0.62,95%CI(0.53,0.71),P<0.01].AM was superior to the control group in improving Numerical Rating Scale(NRS)symptom scores[OR=7.31,95%CI(3.36,15.94),P<0.01].There was no significant difference in adverse effects between the AM and sham-AM groups and the analgesic drug group[OR=0.70,95%CI(0.39,1.28),P=0.25],but the treatment and control groups had mild adverse effects with a low incidence.CONCLUSIONS:AM is more effective than other treatments or pharmacotherapy alone in the treatment of pregnancy-related symptoms,and is relatively safe.However,the quality of the included trials was rather poor,and high-quality studies are required to confirm our findings.

地藏信仰在汉地兴起后,其造像形式逐渐脱离印度佛教原典,并在唐宋时期进一步中原化。在该时期敦煌藏经洞出土的遗画中,绘有大量地藏菩萨图像,其所穿着的袈裟纹样丰富,色彩绮丽,极具研究价值。本文针对目前刊录的英法藏唐宋时期敦煌遗画,以穿着绘有袈裟纹样的地藏菩萨为研究对象,对其内层袈裟、外层袈裟所绘袈裟纹样进行梳理,分为两类:袈裟沿用的常见纹样,如贴金菱形纹、同心圆联珠纹、团花纹;袈裟专属纹样,如云水纹与线迹纹。同时,对比同时期敦煌石窟中佛陀、弟子及地藏像所穿着袈裟的纹样,结合传世袈裟实物与出土的唐宋时期纺织品,从纹样内容、布局、工艺、色彩等方面进行分析,总结纹样分布及变化规律,可以一窥唐宋时期地藏信仰流变对其袈裟纹样的影响,并形成互证。

Thermally rearranged covalent organic framework with flame-retardancy as a high safety Li-ion solid electrolyte

Solid polymer electrolytes have demonstrated high promise to solve the safety problems caused by conventional liquid electrolytes in lithium ion batteries.However,the inherent flammability of most polymer electrolyte materials remains unresolved,hence hindering their further industrial application.Addressing this challenge,we designed and constructed a thermal-responsive imide-linked covalent organic framework(COF)bearing ortho-positioned hydroxy groups as precursors,which can conduct a thermal rearrangement to transform into a highly crystalline and robust benzoxazole-linked COF upon heating.Benefiting from the release of carbon dioxide through thermal rearrangement reaction,this COF platform exhibited excellent flame retardant properties.By contrast,classic COFs(e.g.,boronate ester,imine,olefin,imide linked)were all flammable.Moreover,incorpo-rating polyethylene glycol and Li salt into the COF channels can produce solid polymer electrolytes with outstanding flame retardancy,high ionic conductivity(6.42×10^(-4) S cm^(-1))and a high lithium-ion transference number of 0.95.This thermal rearrangement strategy not only opens a new route for the fabrication of ultrastable COFs,but also provides promising perspectives to designing flame-retardant materials for energy-related applications.
