J-comb: An image fusion algorithm to combine observations covering different spatial frequency ranges

Ground-based, high-resolution bolometric(sub)millimeter continuum mapping observations on spatially extended target sources are often subject to significant missing fluxes. This hampers accurate quantitative analyses. Missing flux can be recovered by fusing high-resolution images with observations that preserve extended structures. However, the commonly adopted image fusion approaches do not maintain the simplicity of the beam response function and do not try to elaborate the details of the yielded beam response functions. These make the comparison of the observations at multiple wavelengths not straightforward. We present a new algorithm, J-comb, which combines the high and low-resolution images linearly. By applying a taper function to the low-pass filtered image and combining it with a high-pass filtered image using proper weights, the beam response functions of our combined images are guaranteed to have near-Gaussian shapes. This makes it easy to convolve the observations at multiple wavelengths to share the same beam response functions. Moreover, we introduce a strategy to tackle the specific problem that the imaging at 850 μm from the present-date ground-based bolometric instrument and that taken with the Planck satellite do not overlap in the Fourier domain. We benchmarked our method against two other widely-used image combination algorithms, CASA-feather and MIRIAD-immerge, with mock observations of star-forming molecular clouds. We demonstrate that the performance of the J-comb algorithm is superior to those of the other two algorithms. We applied the J-comb algorithm to real observational data of the Orion A star-forming region. We successfully produced dust temperature and column density maps with ~10′′angular resolution, unveiling much greater details than the previous results. Phenotype Analysis and Fine Mapping of the Male Sterile Mutant ms10 in Rice (Oryza sativa L.)

Is the runoff coefficient increasing or decreasing after ecological restoration on China’s Loess Plateau?

The“Grain for Green”project(GGP)was launched in 1999 on China’s Loess Plateau to reduce soil erosion,which had far-reaching impacts on the local eco-hydrological *** this study,we use monthly runoff depth and precipitation datasets spanning 1961 to 2015 for 16 primary basins of the plateau to reveal changes in runoff generation capacity before and after the *** use a Budyko-based elasticity method to calculate the runoff depth(R_(1))and runoff coefficient(C_(1))exclusively attributable to land use/cover *** indicate that the mean annual runoff coefficients(Co)decline by 26%—76%from the periods 1961—1999 to 2000—*** annual observed runoff depth(Ro)and C_(0)for 75%of basins show significant downward trends during 1961—1999;after the implementation of the GGP,both annual Ro and annual Co for over 50%of basins show upward *** study further finds that the increase of erosive rainfall during the period 2000-2015,whose mean increasing rate reaches 4.6 mm/year,is the main reason for the upward trends of Ro and *** removing the effect of precipitation variation during this period,we find that 11 out of 16 basins show decreased trends for Cj,with the downward rate between 2.4%and 6.0%per *** reduction rate in semi-arid areas is about four times the rate in semi-humid *** results remind us to consider the carrying capacity of local water resources when implementing soil and water conservation measures across the Loess Plateau.

Potato(Solanum tuberosum L.)is susceptible to enzymatic browning after fresh processing,resulting in color change and potential alteration in the nutritional *** this study,a popular potato cultivar,Feiwuruita,was used to profile the metabolites involved in color and nutritional quality changes in fresh shreds stored at 0 and 4 h at 25°C(designated CK and CK4H,respectively).The shreds turned brown within 4 h of *** all,723 metabolites consisting 12 classes of compounds were detected in the samples,largely lipids,phenolic acids,alkaloids,amino acids and derivatives,flavonoids,organic acids,nucleotides and *** these,163 metabolites accumulated differentially between CK and CK4H *** compounds(phenolic acids and flavonoids)mostly increased in the shreds after 4 h ***,the short-term storage drastically reduced lipid compounds(25 LysoPC and 19 LysoPE),while essential alkaloids and terpenoid compounds that are beneficial to human health increased in *** findings present global metabolome and nutritional composition changes in short-term stored shreds of *** study provides important foundation for future studies on browning prevention/reduction and for better utilization of Feiwuruita.

Roles of homopolymeric apoferritin in alleviating alcohol-induced liver injury

Alcohol abuse induced liver damage are closely related to oxidative stress,several efforts have been made to quench free radicals produced in the *** soybean seed ferritin has been proved to protect DNA from oxidative ***,the roles of homopolymeric apoferritin in quenching free radicals have been neglected so *** order to improve the ferroxidase activity of ferritin,we have prepared apo ferritin by removing iron core from the *** this study,the roles of apo shrimp ferritin(Marsupenaeus japonicus ferritin,MjFer)and human H chain ferritin(HuHF)in attenuating the hydroxyl radicals in vitro and in vivo has been *** showed that MjFer was able to quench the free radicals produced by iron oxidation more efficiently than HuHF in *** studies using a mouse model of alcohol-induced acute liver injury revealed that MjFer is much more efficacious than HuHF in alleviating the liver injury,by attenuating oxidative stress and regulating Nrf2/HO1 ***,the higher activity of MjFer may be attributed to its faster iron oxidative rate than HuHF,which may help improve the intestinal integrity,and reduce abnormal iron *** expected,iron contents in the liver of MjFer and HuHF group are much lower than that of model group,further alleviating the liver *** findings suggest that apoferritin may be a promising candidate for alcohol-induced liver injury.

We present one of the first Shanghai Tian Ma Radio Telescope (TMRT) K Band observations towards a sample of 26 infrared dark clouds (IRDCs).We observed the (1,1),(2,2),(3,3),and (4,4) transitions of NH_(3) together with CCS (2_(1)–>1_(0)) and HC_(3)NJ=2-1,*** survey dramatically increases the existing CCS-detected IRDC sample from 8 to 23,enabling a better statistical study of the ratios of carbon-chain molecules (CCM) to N-bearing molecules in *** the newly developed hyperfine group ratio (HFGR) method of fitting NH_(3) inversion lines,we found the gas temperature to be between 10 and18 *** column density ratios of CCS to NH_(3) for most of the IRDCs are less than 10^(-2),distinguishing IRDCs from low-mass star-forming *** carried out chemical evolution simulations based on a three-phase chemical model *** measurements of the column density ratios between CCM and NH_(3) are consistent with chemical evolutionary ages of 10^(5) yr in the *** of the data and chemical models suggest that CCS,HC_(3)N,and NH_(3) are sensitive to the chemical evolutionary stages of the sources.
