Quantum NETwork: from theory to practice

The quantum internet is envisioned as the ultimate stage of the quantum revolution, which surpasses its classical counterpart in various aspects, such as the efficiency of data transmission, the security of network services, and the capability of information processing. Given its disruptive impact on the national security and the digital economy, a global race to build scalable quantum networks has already begun. With the joint effort of national governments, industrial participants, and research institutes, the development of quantum networks has advanced rapidly in recent years, bringing the first primitive quantum networks within reach. In this work, we aim to provide an up-to-date review of the field of quantum networks from both theoretical and experimental perspectives, contributing to a better understanding of the building blocks required for the establishment of a global quantum internet. We also introduce a newly developed quantum network toolkit to facilitate the exploration and evaluation of innovative ideas. Particularly, it provides dual quantum computing engines, supporting simulations in both the quantum circuit and measurement-based models. It also includes a compilation scheme for mapping quantum network protocols onto quantum circuits,enabling their emulations on real-world quantum hardware devices. We showcase the power of this toolkit with several featured demonstrations, including a simulation of the Micius quantum satellite experiment, a testing of a four-layer quantum network architecture with resource management, and a quantum emulation of the CHSH game. We hope this work can give a better understanding of the state-of-the-art development of quantum networks and provide the necessary tools to make further contributions along the way.

Hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)plays an important role in regulating various pathological processes such as protecting mammalian cell from harmful injuries,promoting tissue regeneration,and regulating the process of various diseases caused by physiological disorders.Studies have revealed that the physiological effects of H_(2)S are highly associated with its concentrations.At relatively low concentration,H_(2)S shows beneficial functions.However,long-time and high-dose donation of H_(2)S would inhibit regular biological process,resulting in cell dysfunction and apoptosis.To regulate the dosage of H_(2)S delivery for precision medicine,H_(2)S delivery systems with intelligent characteristics were developed and a variety of biocompatibility polymers have been utilized to establish intelligent polymeric H_(2)S delivery systems,with the abilities to specifically target the lesions,smartly respond to pathological microenvironments,as well as real-timely monitor H_(2)S delivery and lesion conditions by incorporating imaging-capable moieties.In this review,we focus on the design,preparation,and therapeutic applications of intelligent polymeric H_(2)S delivery systems in cardiovascular therapy,inflammatory therapy,tissue regenerative therapy,cancer therapy and bacteria-associated therapy.Strategies for precise H_(2)S therapies especially imaging-guided H_(2)S theranostics are highlighted.Since H_(2)S donors with stimuli-responsive characters are vital components for establishing intelligent H_(2)S delivery systems,the development of H_(2)S donors is also briefly introduced.

Efficacy of Danggui Buxue decoction(当归补血汤)on diabetic nephropathy-induced renal fibrosis in rats and possible mechanism

OBJECTIVE:To observe the efficacy of Danggui Buxue decoction(当归补血汤,DBD) on diabetic nephropathyinduced renal fibrosis in rats,and to study the possible mechanism.METHODS:Sixty male Goto Kakizaki(GK) rats were randomly assigned to the model group,gliquidone group,astragaloside Ⅳ group,and high-,medium-and lowdoses DBD groups.After 8 weeks,changes in body weight,blood glucose,serum creatinine,serum urea nitrogen,and total cholesterol were observed.Changes in transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1),Smad3,and Smad5 pathways and the expression of the fibrosisrelated proteins collagen Ⅳ(col Ⅳ),α-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA),and vimentin were assessed.The degree of renal fibrosis was observed by immunohistochemistry and Mason staining.The expression of interleukin 6(IL-6),interleukin 10(IL-10),tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α),and C-reactive protein(CRP) in the kidneys was assessed using enzyme linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS:Our experiments showed that DBD effectively reduced blood glucose,blood urea nitrogen,and creatinine levels after 8 weeks of administration,improved renal function in diabetic rats,alleviated renal fibrosis,and reduced the renal tissue levels of IL-6,IL-10,TNF-α,and CRP.Furthermore,DBD decreased the expression of TGF-β1,Smad3,col IV,α-SMA,and vimentin in renal tissues and increased the expression of Smad5.CONCLUSIONS:DBD ameliorates diabetic renal interstitial fibrosis by modulating the TGF-β1/Smads pathway.

A Spatiotemporal Interactive Processing Bias Correction Method for Operational Ocean Wave Forecasts

Numerical models and correct predictions are important for marine forecasting,but the forecasting results are often unable to satisfy the requirements of operational wave forecasting.Because bias between the predictions of numerical models and the actual sea state has been observed,predictions can only be released after correction by forecasters.This paper proposes a spati-otemporal interactive processing bias correction method to correct numerical prediction fields applied to the production and release of operational ocean wave forecasting products.The proposed method combines the advantages of numerical models and Forecast Discussion;specifically,it integrates subjective and objective information to achieve interactive spatiotemporal correc-tions for numerical prediction.The method corrects the single-time numerical prediction field in space by spatial interpolation and sub-zone numerical analyses using numerical model grid data in combination with real-time observations and the artificial judg-ment of forecasters to achieve numerical prediction accuracy.The difference between the original numerical prediction field and the spatial correction field is interpolated to an adjacent time series by successive correction analysis,thereby achieving highly efficient correction for multi-time forecasting fields.In this paper,the significant wave height forecasts from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts are used as background field for forecasting correction and analysis.Results indicate that the proposed method has good application potential for the bias correction of numerical predictions under different sea states.The method takes into account spatial correlations for the numerical prediction field and the time series development of the numerical model to correct numerical predictions efficiently.

Photoreduction of CO_2 to methanol over Bi_2S_3/CdS photocatalyst under visible light irradiation

The Bi 2 S 3 , CdS and Bi 2 S 3 /CdS photocatalysts were prepared by direct reactions between their corresponding salt and thiourea in a hydrothermal autoclave. The photocatalytic activities of these photocatalysts for reducing CO 2 to CH 3 OH under visible light irradiation have been investigated. The results show that the photocatalytic activity and visible light response of Bi 2 S 3 are higher than those of CdS. The Bi 2 S 3 modification can enhance the photocatalytic activity and visible light response of CdS. The photocatalytic activity of Bi 2 S 3 /CdS hetero-junction photocatalyst was the highest and the highest yields of methanol was 613 μmol/g when the weight proportion of Bi 2 S 3 to CdS was 15%, which was about three times as large as that of CdS or two times of that of Bi 2 S 3 .

Arsenic fractionation and contamination assessment in sediments of thirteen lakes from the East Plain and Yungui Plateau Ecoregions, China

Arsenic（As） fractions in the sediments of seven lakes from East Plain Ecoregion and six lakes from Yungui Plateau Ecoregion, China, were investigated. Results indicated that the total As concentrations in sediment samples of lakes of the East Plain Lake Ecoregion are higher than those of Yungui Plateau Lake Ecoregion. Residual As is the main fraction in sediment samples of lakes from both ecoregions, followed by reducible As and soluble or oxidizable As. The total As is correlated to oxidizable As and residual As in sediment samples from both lake ecoregions. As distribution in sediment samples of lakes of the East Plain Ecoregion appears to be affected by human activity, while the As origin mainly comes from natural sources in sediment samples of lakes in the Yungui Plateau Ecoregion. The potential ecological risk index and geoaccumulation index values suggest ＂low to moderate＂ risk degree and ＂unpolluted to moderately polluted＂ for As in the studied lake sediments.

Cutting Rapid Propagation Technology for Antigonon leptopus in Tropical Areas

The shoots with good functional leaves were selected, from which cutting slips with the length of about 20 cm were cut, and 2 nodes were left for the ones with long sections. All leaves could be kept or 1/3 of each leaf could be cut. The cutting depth was that making the bottom node touch the substrate, and the cutting slips with short nodes should have 1/3 of the length insert in the soil. Each pot was planted with 2 - 3 cutting slips, and the substrate around the cutting slips was pressed by hands, followed by enough watering. And then white plastic bags were used to cover the pots, which were then placed in the place with the shading rate of 75%. The method had low costs but good landscape effect, promising with good development prospects, which could provide references for the promotion of out- of-season rapid propagation technology of Antigonon leptopus in tropical areas.
