BACKGROUND Cronkhite-Canada syndrome(CCS)is a rare disease of unknown etiology.The optimal treatment for CCS remains unknown.Treatment with corticosteroids is considered the mainstay treatment because of its high efficacy,but the therapeutic strategy for steroid-resistant CCS is not yet established.CASE SUMMARY This is the case of an 81-year-old woman who was diagnosed with CCS.Given her severe diarrhea,nausea,vomiting,and hypoproteinemia,hormone therapy(40 mg/d)was administered,and the symptoms improved within 1 wk.After 3 mo,the patient had no obvious symptoms.The polyps were significantly reduced on review gastroscopy and colonoscopy,thus hormone reduction gradually began.The hormone level was maintained at 10 mg/d after 6 mo.Despite the age of the patient and the side effects of hormones,the patient had no obvious discomfort.However,hormone drugs were discontinued,and mesalazine was administered orally at 3 g/d.The patient's symptoms continued to improve after a follow-up of 5 years.CONCLUSION Corticosteroids and mesalazine are potential treatment options for CCS.

Human-robot object handover is one of the most primitive and crucial capabilities in human-robot collaboration.It is of great significance to promote robots to truly enter human production and life scenarios and serve human in numerous tasks.Remarkable progressions in the field of human-robot object handover have been made by researchers.This article reviews the recent literature on human-robot object handover.To this end,we summarize the results from multiple dimensions,from the role played by the robot(receiver or giver),to the end-effector of the robot(parallel-jaw gripper or multi-finger hand),to the robot abilities(grasp strategy or motion planning).We also implement a human-robot object handover system for anthropomorphic hand to verify human-robot object handover pipeline.This review aims to provide researchers and developers with a guideline for designing human-robot object handover methods.

The gas-water two-phaseﬂow occurring as a result of fracturingﬂuidﬂowback phenomena is known to impact signiﬁcantly the productivity of shale gas well.In this work,this two-phaseﬂow has been simulated in the framework of a hybrid approach partially relying on the embedded discrete fracture model(EDFM).This model assumes the region outside the stimulated reservoir volume(SRV)as a single-medium while the SRV region itself is described using a double-medium strategy which can account for theﬂuid exchange between the matrix and the micro-fractures.The shale gas adsorption,desorption,diffusion,gas slippage effect,fracture stress sensitivity,and capillary imbibition have been considered.The shale gas production,pore pressure distribution and water saturation distribution in the reservoir have been simulated.The inﬂuences of hydraulic fracture geometry and nonorthogonal hydraulic fractures on gas production have been determined and discussed accordingly.The simulation results show that the daily gas production has an upward and downward trend due to the presence of a large amount of fracturingﬂuid in the reservoir around the hydraulic fracture.The smaller the angle between the hydraulic fracture and the wellbore,the faster the daily production of shale gas wells decreases,and the lower the cumulative production.Nonplanar fractures can increase the control volume of hydraulic fractures and improve the production of shale gas wells.

Hematite(α-Fe_(2)O_(3))is known to undergo conversion from weak ferromagnetic to antiferromagnetic as the temperature decreases below the Morin temperature(TM=250 K)due to spin moment rotation occurring during the Morin transition(MT).Herein,we endowed hematite with mesostructured chirality to maintain weak ferromagnetism without MT.Chiral mesostructured hematite(CMH)nanoparticles were prepared by a hydrothermal method with glutamic acid(Glu)as the symmetry-breaking agent.The triangular bipyramidal CMH nanoparticles were composed of helically cleaved nanoflakes with twisted crystal lattice.Field-cooled(FC)magnetization measurements showed that the magnetic moments of CMH were stabilized without MT within the temperature range of 10–300 K.Hysteresis loop measurements confirmed the weak ferromagnetism of CMH.The enhanced Dzyaloshinskii–Moriya interaction(DMI)was speculated to be responsible for the temperature-independent weak ferromagnetism,in which the spin configuration would be confined with canted antiferromagnetic coupling due to the mesostructured chirality of CMH.

As an emerging joint learning model,federated learning is a promising way to combine model parameters of different users for training and inference without collecting users’original data.However,a practical and efficient solution has not been established in previous work due to the absence of efficient matrix computation and cryptography schemes in the privacy-preserving federated learning model,especially in partially homomorphic cryptosystems.In this paper,we propose a Practical and Efficient Privacy-preserving Federated Learning(PEPFL)framework.First,we present a lifted distributed ElGamal cryptosystem for federated learning,which can solve the multi-key problem in federated learning.Secondly,we develop a Practical Partially Single Instruction Multiple Data(PSIMD)parallelism scheme that can encode a plaintext matrix into single plaintext for encryption,improving the encryption efficiency and reducing the communication cost in partially homomorphic cryptosystem.In addition,based on the Convolutional Neural Network(CNN)and the designed cryptosystem,a novel privacy-preserving federated learning framework is designed by using Momentum Gradient Descent(MGD).Finally,we evaluate the security and performance of PEPFL.The experiment results demonstrate that the scheme is practicable,effective,and secure with low communication and computation costs.

A method for cleaning wind power anomaly data by combining image processing with community detection algorithms

Current methodologies for cleaning wind power anomaly data exhibit limited capabilities in identifying abnormal data within extensive datasets and struggle to accommodate the considerable variability and intricacy of wind farm data.Consequently,a method for cleaning wind power anomaly data by combining image processing with community detection algorithms(CWPAD-IPCDA)is proposed.To precisely identify and initially clean anomalous data,wind power curve(WPC)images are converted into graph structures,which employ the Louvain community recognition algorithm and graph-theoretic methods for community detection and segmentation.Furthermore,the mathematical morphology operation(MMO)determines the main part of the initially cleaned wind power curve images and maps them back to the normal wind power points to complete the final cleaning.The CWPAD-IPCDA method was applied to clean datasets from 25 wind turbines(WTs)in two wind farms in northwest China to validate its feasibility.A comparison was conducted using density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise(DBSCAN)algorithm,an improved isolation forest algorithm,and an image-based(IB)algorithm.The experimental results demonstrate that the CWPAD-IPCDA method surpasses the other three algorithms,achieving an approximately 7.23%higher average data cleaning rate.The mean value of the sum of the squared errors(SSE)of the dataset after cleaning is approximately 6.887 lower than that of the other algorithms.Moreover,the mean of overall accuracy,as measured by the F1-score,exceeds that of the other methods by approximately 10.49%;this indicates that the CWPAD-IPCDA method is more conducive to improving the accuracy and reliability of wind power curve modeling and wind farm power forecasting.

Porphyrins and their derivatives are excellent photosensitizers in photodynamic therapy(PDT).The modification of porphyrin molecules into metal-organic cages(MOCs)is a viable strategy to improve their bioavailability.In this work,MOC C66 based on porphyrin was synthesised by a one-pot self-assembly method.The three-dimensional structure of the metal-organic cage ameliorated the aggregation and selfquenching of porphyrins and increased the molar absorption coefficient in the visible light region,which enhanced the reactive oxygen species(ROS)yield of porphyrins and effectively improved the efficiency of photodynamic therapy.ROS generation ability tests in solution confirmed the improved reactive oxygen capacity of the cage,which showed greater phototoxicity to HeLa and MCF-7 cells in vitro,suggesting a new strategy for future modifications of the simple synthesis of porphyrins as photosensitizers.

The safety of nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems(DDSs)for cancer treatment is still a challenge,restricted by the intrinsic cytotoxicity of drug carriers and leakage of loaded drug.Here,we propose a novel nanocarrier’s cytotoxicity avoidance strategy by synthesizing an encapsulation core–shell structure of zeolitic imidazolate framework-8(ZIF-8)-based colloid particles(CPs)with an amorphous ZIF-8 skin.This encapsulation structure achieves an ultra-high loading rate(LR)of 90%(i.e.,9 mg doxorubicin(DOX)per 1 mg ZIF-8)for DOX and the protection of DOX from leaking.Notably,to deliver unit-dose drug,this ultra-high LR of 90%significantly reduces the usage of ZIF-8 to 1.2%(2 orders of magnitude)compared to that of DOX@ZIF-8 with a 10%LR,in which cytotoxicity of ZIF-8 could well below the safety limit and then be relatively ignored.Safety,drug delivery efficacy,scale-up ability,and universality of this encapsulation structure have been further verified.Our findings suggest the great potential of this ZIF-8-based encapsulation core–shell structure in the field of drug delivery.

Effect of neutral polymeric bonding agent on tensile mechanical properties and damage evolution of NEPE propellant

Introducing Neutral Polymeric bonding agents(NPBA) into the Nitrate Ester Plasticized Polyether(NEPE)propellant could improve the adhesion between filler/matrix interface, thereby contributing to the development of new generations of the NEPE propellant with better mechanical properties. Therefore,understanding the effects of NPBA on the deformation and damage evolution of the NEPE propellant is fundamental to material design and applications. This paper studies the uniaxial tensile and stress relaxation responses of the NEPE propellant with different amounts of NPBA. The damage evolution in terms of interface debonding is further investigated using a cohesive-zone model(CZM). Experimental results show that the initial modulus and strength of the NEPE propellant increase with the increasing amount of NPBA while the elongation decreases. Meanwhile, the relaxation rate slows down and a higher long-term equilibrium modulus is reached. Experimental and numerical analyses indicate that interface debonding and crack propagation along filler-matrix interface are the dominant damage mechanism for the samples with a low amount of NPBA, while damage localization and crack advancement through the matrix are predominant for the ones with a high amount of NPBA. Finally, crosslinking density tests and simulation results also show that the effect of the bonding agent is interfacial rather than due to the overall crosslinking density change of the binder.
