This paper presents a novel approach for predicting the water quality indicator-Secchi disk depth(Z_(SD)).Z_(SD)indirectly reflects water clarity and serves as a proxy for other quality *** study utilizes Deep Neural Network(DNN)trained on satellite remote sensing and measured data from three sources:two datasets obtained from official agencies in Croatia and Slovenia,and one citizen science data source,all covering the northern coastal region of the Adriatic *** proposed model uses 1D convolutional Neural Network(CNN)in the spectral dimension to predict Z_(SD).The model’s performance indicates a strong fit to the observed data,proving capability of 1D-CNN to capture changes in water *** the test dataset,the model achieved a high R-squared value of 0.890,a low root mean squared error(RMSE)of 0.023 and mean absolute error(MAE)of *** results demonstrate that employing a 1D-CNN in the spectral dimension of Sentinel-3 oLCI data is an effective approach for predicting water *** findings have significant implications for monitoring Z_(SD)in coastal *** integrating diverse data sources and leveraging advanced machine learning algorithms,a more accurate and comprehensive assessment of water quality can be achieved.

Restricted fetal growth(RFG)is a leading contributor to perinatal mortality and has been associated with gestational exposure to air pollution,such as fine particulate matter(PM_(2.5)),nitrogen dioxide(No2),and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs).This study examines the association between trimester-specific and weekly means of air pollution throughout gestation and placental inflammatory markers at *** a prospective cohort study of 263 pregnant women in Rochester,NY,we measured interleukin-6(IL-6)and tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α)in placental tissue and estimated gestational exposure to PM_(2.5)and No_(2)using a high-resolution spatial-temporal *** to PAHs was estimated using urinary 1-hydroxypyrene(1-oHP)concentrations collected once per *** distributed lag models with a penalized spline function,each interquartile range(2.6μg/m^(3))increase in PM_(2.5)concentration during gestational weeks 6−11 was associated with decreased placental IL-6 levels(−22.2%,95%CI:−39.0%,−0.64%).Using multiple linear regression models,each interquartile range increase of 1-oHP was associated with an increase in TNF-αin the first trimester(58.5%,95%CI:20.7%,74.2%),third trimester(22.9%,95%CI:0.04%,49.5%),and entire pregnancy(29.6%,95%CI:3.9%,60.6%).our results suggest gestational exposure to air pollution may alter the inflammatory environment of the placenta at delivery.

We present the results from a long term X-ray analysis of Mrk 279 during the period 2018–*** use data from multiple missions–AstroSat,NuSTAR and XMM-Newton,for the *** X-ray spectrum can be modeled as a double comptonization along with the presence of neutral Fe kαline emission,at all *** determined the source’s X-ray flux and luminosity at these different *** find significant variations in the source’s flux *** also investigate the variations in the source’s spectral components during the observation *** find that the photon index and hence the spectral shape follow the variations only over longer time *** probe the correlations between fluxes of different bands and their photon indices,and found no significant correlations between the parameters.

Forest degradation induced by intensive forest management and temperature increase by climate change are resulting in biodiversity decline in boreal *** forest management and high-end climate emission scenarios can further reduce the amount and diversity of deadwood,the limiting factor for habitats for saproxylic species in European boreal *** magnitude of their combined effects and how changes in forest management can affect deadwood diversity under a range of climate change scenarios are poorly *** used forest growth simulations to evaluate how forest management and climate change will individually and jointly affect habitats of red-listed saproxylic species in *** simulated seven forest management regimes and three climate scenarios(reference,RCP4.5 and RCP8.5)over 100 *** regimes included set aside,continuous cover forestry,business-as-usual(BAU)and four modifications of *** suitability was assessed using a speciesspecific habitat suitability index,including 21 fungal and invertebrate species groups.“Winner”and“loser”species were identified based on the modelled impacts of forest management and climate change on their habitat *** found that forest management had a major impact on habitat suitability of saproxylic species compared to climate *** suitability index varied by over 250%among management regimes,while overall change in habitat suitability index caused by climate change was on average only 2%.More species groups were identified as winners than losers from impacts of climate change(52%–95%were winners,depending on the climate change scenario and management regime).The largest increase in habitat suitability index was achieved under set aside(254%)and the climate scenario RCP8.5(>2%),while continuous cover forestry was the most suitable regime to increase habitat suitability of saproxylic species(up to+11%)across all climate change *** results show that close-to-na

The Disc Acceleration e Xperiment(DAX)is one of the most recent experimental methods of performance characterization of new energetic materials.A cylindrical explosive charge accelerates a thin metallic disc and its velocity is measured continuously using photonic Doppler *** detonation velocity is measured *** DAX test can be used to obtain the Chapman-Jouguet(CJ)detonation pressure and to describe detonation products expansion using reduced amount of explosive.A series of DAX tests was performed at various charge diameters and disc thicknesses with Semtex 1 A plastic bonded explosive and sensitized *** DAX-like evaluation was also applied to previously measured data of Semtex 1A and A-IX-1 *** optimum disc thickness is determined by the disc to explosive mass ratio of *** repeatability of the Semtex 1 A detonation pressure results is about four times lower compared to the pressed and liquid explosives.

Cerium tartrate(CeTar),produced in this study by precipitating cerium nitrate with potassium sodium tartrate(kNaTar),was examined as a corrosion *** loss tests show inhibition efficiency of 71.7% with Ce(No_(3))_(3) and 88.7% with CeTar inhibitor for one-month exposure to mild steel in 7 g/L NaCl *** inhibition efficiency drops to 28.6% with the fo rmer and remains around 8 7% with the latter inhibitor after six months of *** results from electrochemical testing indicate that the inhibition efficiency decreases by adding cerium ***,the cerium tartrate inhibitor demonstrates a nearly constant inhibition efficiency for up to 30 d,i.e.,≈90%.Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) performed in these cases shows the following results:(ⅰ) with cerium nitrate,a film of iron and cerium oxide,which on prolonged exposure diminishes,and(ⅱ) with cerium tartrate,the formation of a bimetallic film(Fe-tartrate-Ce) and a mixture of cerium hydroxide and iro n oxide that protects steel for a longer *** inferences are based on the analyses of scanning electron microscopy/energydispersive X-ray analysis(SEM/EDAX),X-ray diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),X-ray photoelectron(XPS),and Raman spectroscopy results.
