Microbial carbon use efficiency (CUE)is defined as the proportion of microbial biomass growth C versus substrate C uptake, and thus provides a useful measure of microbially driven accumulation and loss of soil organic carbon (SOC)[1]. In a recent study published in Nature [2],the authors used a data-driven machinelearning approach to conclude that CUE promotes global SOC storage based on a positive correlation between CUE and SOC content and that, based on sensitivity analysis, CUE is at least four times as important as six other evaluated factors,namely plant C inputs, C input allocation, non-microbial C transfer, substrate decomposability, environmental modifications and vertical transport.

Isotopic separation is of paramount importance for producing high-purity heavy hydrogen,yet the process remains hugely ***,we report on an Fe/ZSM-5 zeolite that was able to efficiently separate deuterium from protium via chemical quantum *** data showed that four types of Fe species were present in Fe/ZSM-5 and oligomeric Fe-O clusters in the zeolite pores were correlated directly with gas *** adsorption revealed that Fe-O species served as the main adsorption sites and interacted with D_(2) more strongly than with H_(2).D_(2)/H_(2)separation was exemplified using thermal desorption spectroscopy.D_(2)/H_(2) selectivity increased with Fe loading in Fe/ZSM-5 and a selectivity of 32.1 was obtained with an optimal loading of 7 wt%.The shift of desorption temperature supports the chemical affinity-based quantum sieving of D_(2)over H_(2).This study demonstrates an effective strategy for enhancing D_(2)/H_(2) separation and the high selectivity means that Fe/ZSM-5 has strong potential in hydrogen isotope separation.

At present,in-situ leaching of weathered crust elution-deposited rare earth ores(WCE-DREOs) encounter with problems such as long leaching cycles,slow infiltration rate and low product *** order to solve the above problems,the conventional leaching agent ammonium sulfate((NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4)) was compounded with polymeric surfactant polyethyleneimine(PEI) to form a composite leaching *** effects of leaching temperature,PEI *** rate and pH on leaching kinetics and permeability of rare earths(RE) and aluminum(AI) in orebody were *** is found that with temperature increasing,the time required to reach leaching equilibrium for both RE and Al is shortened,the apparent activation energies of RE and AI are 14.79 and 13.45 kJ/mol,respectively,and the leaching processes are in accordance with the outer diffusion control,When the concentrations of(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4) and PEI in the composite leaching agent are 2.0 wt% and 0.4 wt%;the time required to reach leaching equilibrium for RE and AI is about 50% shorter than that using(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4) alone,and the leaching efficiencies of RE are slightly higher than that of *** increasing the temperature and flow rate of the composite leaching agent can improve the leaching efficiencies of RE and Al,but pH has neglected effects on the leaching efficiencies of *** PEI concentrations below 0,4 wt%, the addition of PEI promotes the leaching of RE and *** column leaching studies of the WCE-DREO,the addition of 0.4 wt% PEI to the traditional leaching agent(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4) has no impact on the leaching efficiencies of ***,it can significantly increase the infiltration rate of WCE-DREO,shortening the leaching time per 10 ml effluent from about 30 min for(NH_(4))_(2)SO_(4) leaching system to 20 min for the composite leaching *** leaching time is shortened by one-third,and the leaching cost is reduced,which can provide theoretical guidance for the development and commercial implementa

This study aims to analyze the coking process and propose an effective method for the reutilization of fluid catalytic cracking(FCC)coke ***,we analyzed the basic characteristics and chemical composition of FCC coke *** results showed that the main components were carbon,oxygen,and aluminum,accounting for 60.8%,26.6%,and 11.5%,*** the conventional catalytic cracking reaction temperature from 500℃ to 600℃,the formation of the first aromatic hydrocarbon was particularly important for the formation of *** condensation of oil-gas-entrained catalyst particles and their heavy components was the physical cause of coking,while the dehydrogenation condensation reaction of oil-gas heavy components was the chemical *** addition,the membrane prepared by powdered coke had excellent photothermal conversion ability,which could be heated to more than 110℃ within 360 s under two fixed light *** evaporation rate of photothermal water was 5.89 kg m^(2) h^(−1),which has great industrial application *** works provide a novel and effective method of separation membrane for the reutilization of FCC coke blocks.

Electromagnetic interference shielding(EMI SE)modules are the core com-ponent of modern ***,the tra-ditional metal-based SE modules always take up indispensable three-dimensional space inside electronics,posing a major obstacle to the integra-tion of *** innovation of integrating 3D-printed conformal shielding(c-SE)modules with packaging materials onto core electronics offers infinite possibilities to satisfy ideal SE func-tion without occupying additional ***,the 3D printable carbon-based inks with various proportions of graphene and carbon nanotube nanoparticles are well-formulated by manipulating their rheological ***,the free-constructed architectures with arbitrarily-customized structure and multifunctionality are created via 3D *** particular,the SE performance of 3D-printed frame is up to 61.4 dB,simultaneously accompanied with an ultralight architecture of 0.076 g cm^(-3) and a superhigh specific shielding of 802.4 dB cm3 g^(-1).Moreover,as a proof-of-concept,the 3D-printed c-SE module is in situ integrated into core electronics,successfully replacing the traditional metal-based module to afford multiple functions for electromagnetic compatibility and thermal ***,this scientific innovation completely makes up the blank for assembling carbon-based c-SE modules and sheds a brilliant light on developing the next generation of high-performance shielding materials with arbitrarily-customized structure for integrated electronics.

Dissolved organicmatter(DOM)is a heterogeneous pool of compounds and exhibits diverse adsorption characteristics with or without phosphorous(P)*** impacts of these factors on the burial and mobilization of organic carbon and P in aquatic ecosystems remain *** this study,an algae-derived DOM(ADOM)and a commercially available humic acid(HA)with distinct compositions were assessed for their adsorption behaviors onto iron(oxy)hydroxides(FeOx),both in the absence and presence of *** contained less aromatics but more protein-like and highly unsaturated structures with oxygen compounds(HUSO)than *** adsorption capacity of FeOx was significantly greater for ADOM than for ***-like and HUSO compounds in ADOM and humic-like compounds and macromolecular aromatics in HA were preferentially adsorbed by ***,ADOM demonstrated a stronger inhibitory effect on phosphate adsorption than *** observation suggests that the substantial release of autochthonous ADOM by algae could elevate internal P loading and pose challenges for the restoration of restore eutrophic *** presence of phosphate suppressed the adsorption of protein-like compounds in ADOM onto FeOx,resulting in an increase in the relative abundance of protein-like compounds and a decrease in the relative abundance of humic-like compounds in post-adsorption *** contrast,phosphate exhibited no discernible impact on the compositional fractionation of ***,our results show the source-composition characters of DOM influence the immobilization of both DOM and P in aquatic ecosystems through adsorption *** preferential adsorption of proteinaceous compounds within ADOM and aromatics within HA highlights the potential for the attachment with FeOx to diminish the original source-specific signatures of DOM,thereby contributing to the shared DOM characteristics observed across diverse aquatic environments.

Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs)with advantages of abundant resource and low cost have emerged as promising candidates for the next-generation energy storage ***,safety issues existing in electrolytes,anodes,and cathodes bring about frequent accidents regarding battery fires and explosions and impede the development of high-performance ***,safety analysis and high-safety battery design have become prerequisites for the development of advanced energy storage *** reported reviews that only focus on a specific issue are difficult to provide overall guidance for building high-safety *** overcome the limitation,this review summarizes the recent research progress from the perspective of key components of SIBs for the first time and evaluates the characteristics of various improvement *** orderly analyzing the root causes of safety problems associated with different components in SIBs(including electrolytes,anodes,and cathodes),corresponding improvement strategies for each component were discussed *** addition,some noteworthy points and perspectives including the chain reaction between security issues and the selection of improvement strategies tailored to different needs have also been *** brief,this review is designed to deepen our understanding of the SIBs safety issues and provide guidance and assistance for designing high-safety SIBs.
