The link between dietary nutrients intake and cardiovascular diseases in cold regions

Background:The cold winter weather in northern China influences the dietary habits of its residents,contributing to a heightened risk of cardiovascular disorders,such as hypertension and coronary heart disease.Key factors include low vegetable consumption and high salt and fat intakes.This study aims to investigate the relationships between northern dietary nutrient intake in northern China and cardiovascular disorders during the winter season.Methods:A food frequency questionnaire tailored to the actual eating habits in northern China was designed.Retrospective data from 955 Chinese adults were collected from November to March between 2014 to 2023.Logistic regression was employed to analyze the relationship between dietary nutrients and cardiovascular diseases,with model performance assessed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves.Results:Adjusted for gender,age,and body mass index(BMI),an inverse association was observed between vitamin A(OR=0.706,95%CI:0.550,0.907),nicotinic acid(OR=0.584,95%CI:0.447,0.762),phosphorus(OR=0.777,95%CI:0.608,0.994),selenium(OR=0.719,95%CI:0.560,0.923),zinc(OR=0.683,95%CI:0.531,0.880),methionine(OR=0.730,95%CI:0.569,0.936),arginine(OR=0.753,95%CI:0.588,0.964),lysine(OR=0.706,95%CI:0.550,0.907),aspartic acid(OR=0.730,95%CI:0.569,0.936)and hypertension.Additionally,a negative association was found between niacin(OR=0.752,95%CI:0.597,0.946)and coronary heart disease.Conversely,a positive association was identified between iodine and hypertension(OR=1.305,95%CI:1.020,1.669)and coronary heart disease(OR=1.301,95%CI:1.037,1.634).Conclusion:Our study suggests that maintaining a balanced dietary intake of vitamin A,niacin,phosphorus,selenium,zinc,methionine,arginine,lysine,and aspartic acid can be beneficial in preventing hypertension.Adequate niacin intake is associated with a lower risk of coronary heart disease.However,excessive iodine intake may contribute to hypertension and coronary heart disease.

High-energy density lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)with layered high-nickel oxide cathodes(LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2),x≥0.8)show great promise in consumer electronics and vehicular applications.However,LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2)faces challenges related to capacity decay caused by residual alkalis owing to high sensitivity to air.To address this issue,we propose a hazardous substances upcycling method that fundamentally mitigates alkali content and concurrently induces the emergence of an anti-air-sensitive layer on the cathode surface.Through the neutralization of polyacrylic acid(PAA)with residual alkalis and then coupling it with 3-aminopropyl triethoxysilane(KH550),a stable and ion-conductive cross-linked polymer layer is in situ integrated into the LiNi_(0.89)Co_(0.06)Mn_(0.05)O_(2)(NCM)cathode.Our characterization and measurements demonstrate its effectiveness.The NCM material exhibits impressive cycling performance,retaining 88.4%of its capacity after 200 cycles at 5 C and achieving an extraordinary specific capacity of 170.0 mA h g^(-1) at 10 C.Importantly,this layer on the NCM efficiently suppresses unfavorable phase transitions,severe electrolyte degradation,and CO_(2)gas evolution,while maintaining commendable resistance to air exposure.This surface modification strategy shows widespread potential for creating air-stable LiNi_(x)Co_(y)Mn_(1-x-y)O_(2)cathodes,thereby advancing high-performance LIBs.

Effects of Different Exogenous Substances on Seed Germination of Isatis indigotica Under Drought Stress and Chemical Composition of Isatis indigotica leaves

This study was to investigate the effects of three exogenous substances on chemical constituents of Isatis indigotica leavesand their efficacy in alleviating drought stress, and explore the methods of applying exogenous substances to efficient cultivationof Isatis indigotica. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) was used to simulate drought stress to deal with seeds of Isatis indigotica at thegermination stage (concentration: 0, 10%, 15%, and 20%). Simultaneous operation of exogenous growth regulators [microbialinoculum (MI), γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and salicylic acid (SA)] and PEG were implemented in seeds of Isatis indigotica.The effects of drought stress and the mitigation of exogenous substances were observed by statistics of seed germination potential,germination rate, hypocotyl length, and radicle length of each treatment. The effects of exogenous substances on the content ofalkaloids, crude protein and free amino acids in the leaves of Isatis indigotica grown in a greenhouse were determined after sprayingexogenous substances on the plants. The differences of germination potential, germination rate, hypocotyl length, and radicle lengthamong 15% PEG stress treatment, 10% PEG stress treatment and the control were significant (P<0.05). According to the predesignedgermination standard, the seeds did not germinate under 20% PEG stress treatment. When the PEG concentration was 15%, the resultsof seed germination potential and germination rate after adding MI were significantly different from those under stress alone (P<0.05).When exposed to 10% PEG stress, the supplementation of GABA led to a notable increase in radicle length of Isatis indigotica seeds,showing significant differences compared to other three treatments. The application of MI and GABA under 15% PEG stress resultedin a significant increase in the radicle and hypocotyl length of Isatis indigotica seeds compared to other two treatments. Spatiotemporal mapping of(ultra‐)mafic magmatic mine areas:Implications of economic and political realities in China

The spatiotemporal extension/expansion of mine areas is affected by multiple factors.So far,very little has been done to examine the interaction between mine areas and political or economic realities.The(ultra‐)mafic magmatic mines in China played a specific role in supporting national development and providing an ideal research subject for monitoring their interrelationship.In this study,remote sensing and mining‐related GIS data were used to identify and analyze 1233(ultra‐)mafic magmatic mine area polygons in China,which covered approximately 322.96 km2 of land and included a V–Ti–Fe mine,a copper–nickel mine,a chromite mine,an asbestos mine,and a diamond mine.It was found that(1)the areal expansion of mines is significantly related to the mine types,perimeter,topography,and population density.(2)The mine area variation also reflects market and policy realities.The temporal expansion of the mine area from 2010 to 2020 followed an S‐shaped pattern(with the turning point occurring in 2014),closely related to iron overcapacity and tightened mining policies.(3)The complexity(D)of the mine area may reflect mine design and excavation practices.To be specific,lower D indicates early‐stage or artisanal/small‐scale mining,whereas higher D represents large‐scale mining.This study demonstrates that the detailed mapping of mine land can serve as an indicator to implement miningrelated market and policy changes.The(ultra‐)mafic mines area data set can be accessed at https://***/record/7636616#.Y-p0uXaZOa0.

A nanoplatform with oxygen self-supplying and heat-sensitizing capabilities enhances the efficacy of photodynamic therapy in eradicating multidrug-resistant biofilms

Bacterial biofilms,especially those caused by multidrug-resistant bacteria,have emerged as one of the greatest dangers to global public health.The acceleration of antimicrobial resistance to conventional an-tibiotics and the severe lack of new drugs necessitates the development of novel agents for biofilm eradication.Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is a promising non-antibiotic method for treating bacterial infections.However,its application in biofilm eradication is hampered by the hypoxic microenvironment of biofilms and the physical protection of extracellular polymeric substances.In this study,we develop a composite nanoplatform with oxygen(O_(2))self-supplying and heat-sensitizing capabilities to improve the PDT efficacy against biofilms.cao_(2)/ICG@PDA nanoparticles(CIP NPs)are fabricated by combining calcium peroxide(cao_(2))with the photosensitizer indocyanine green(ICG)via electrostatic interactions,followed by coating with polydopamine(PDA).The CIP NPs can gradually generate O_(2)in response to the acidic microenvironment of the biofilm,thereby alleviating its hypoxic state.Under near-infrared(NIR)irradiation,the nanoplatform converts O_(2)into a significant amount of singlet oxygen(^(1)O_(2))and heat to eradicate biofilm.The generated heat enhances the release of O_(2),accelerates the generation of^(1)O_(2)in PDT,increases cell membrane permeability,and increases bacterial sensitivity to^(1)O_(2).This nanoplatform significantly improves the efficacy of PDT in eradicating biofilm-dwelling bacteria without fostering drug resistance.Experiments on biofilm eradication demonstrate that this nanoplatform can eradicate over 99.9999%of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)biofilms under 5-min NIR irradiation.Notably,these integrated advantages enable the system to promote the healing of MRSA biofilm-infected wounds with negligible toxicity in vivo,indicating great promise for overcoming the obstacles associated with bacterial biofilm eradication.

miRNAs are important regulators of gene expression and play key roles in the development of cancer, including osteosarcoma. During the development of osteosarcoma, the expression of miR-22 is significantly downregulated, making miR-22 as a promising therapeutic target against osteosarcoma. To design and fabricate efficient delivery carriers of miR-22 into osteosarcoma cells, a hydroxyl-rich reduction-responsive cationic polymeric nanoparticle, TGIC-CA (TC), was developed in this work, which also enhanced the therapeutic effects of Volasertib on osteosarcoma. TC was prepared by the ring-opening reaction between amino and epoxy groups by one-pot method, which had the good complexing ability with nucleic acids, reduction-responsive degradability and gene transfection performance. TC/miR-22 combined with volasertib could inhibit proliferation, migration and promote apoptosis of osteosarcoma cells in vitro. The anti-tumor mechanisms were revealed as TC/ miR-22 and volasertib could inhibit the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway synergistically. Furthermore, this strategy showed outstanding tumor suppression performance in animal models of orthotopic osteosarcoma, especially in patient-derived chemo-resistant and chemo-intolerant patient-derived xenograft (PDX) models, which reduced the risk of tumor lung metastasis and overcame drug resistance. Therefore, it has great potential for efficient treatment of metastasis and drug resistance of osteosarcoma by the strategy of localized, sustained delivery of miR-22 using the cationic nanocarriers combined with non-traditional chemotherapy drugs.

Primary immune thrombocytopenia(ITP)is an autoimmune hemorrhagic disorder in which macrophages play a critical role.Mammalian sterile-20-like kinase 4(MST4),a member of the germinal-center kinase STE20 family,has been demonstrated to be a regulator of inflammation.Whether MST4 participates in the macrophage-dependent inflammation of ITP remains elusive.The expression and function of MST4 in macrophages of ITP patients and THP-1 cells,and of a macrophage-specific Mst4−/−(Mst4ΔM/ΔM)ITP mouse model were determined.Macrophage phagocytic assays,RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)analysis,immunofluorescence analysis,coimmunoprecipitation(co-IP),mass spectrometry(MS),bioinformatics analysis,and phosphoproteomics analysis were performed to reveal the underlying mechanisms.The expression levels of the MST4 gene were elevated in the expanded M1-like macrophages of ITP patients,and this elevated expression of MST4 was restored to basal levels in patients with remission after high-dose dexamethasone treatment.The expression of the MST4 gene was significantly elevated in THP-1-derived M1 macrophages.Silencing of MST4 decreased the expression of M1 macrophage markers and cytokines,and impaired phagocytosis,which could be increased by overexpression of MST4.In a passive ITP mouse model,macrophage-specific depletion of Mst4 reduced the numbers of M1 macrophages in the spleen and peritoneal lavage fluid,attenuated the expression of M1 cytokines,and promoted the predominance of FcγRIIb in splenic macrophages,which resulted in amelioration of thrombocytopenia.Downregulation of MST4 directly inhibited STAT1 phosphorylation,which is essential for M1 polarization of macrophages.Our study elucidates a critical role for MST4 kinase in the pathology of ITP and identifies MST4 kinase as a potential therapeutic target for refractory ITP.

天空背景下的红外弱小目标检测技术较为成熟,但在近地复杂背景下,红外弱小目标的检测存在准确率不高、虚警目标多、实时性差的问题。针对以上问题,该文提出一种基于改进顶帽变换的红外弱小目标检测算法(OTHOLCM)。该算法采用基于改进顶帽变换的图像预处理算法(OTH),通过对不同灰度值的图像采取不同的策略针对性地处理图像,达到目标增强、背景抑制的效果。并在此基础上,采用基于改进多尺度局部对比度的红外弱小目标检测算法(OLCM),通过针对目标尺寸特点进行尺度设计,使得在保证算法实时性的基础上扩大目标尺寸检测范围。实验证明:OTHOLCM算法可以保证实时性并明显提高目标检测准确率、减少虚警目标数量。与3层模板局部差异度量算法(TTLDM)、基于边角感知的时空张量模型(ECASTT)等先进算法相比,OTHOLCM算法可使真阳性率分别提高近79%,61%,假阳性率分别降低近77%,73%,目标检测速度达到每秒25帧。

[目的/意义]随着网络时代的发展，现代社会的主要舆论场正逐渐向网络空间转移。网络言论是网络空间传播信息和舆情的重要渠道，能够促进信息传播和创新发展，但是又需要进行适度管理，以确保网络安全乃至国家利益和公共安全。[方法/过程]网络言论有着独特的意义并发挥着重要功能。一方面动摇了传统的信息传播渠道结构，另一方面已成为公民参与公共事务管理和行使监督权更为直接有效的路径。[结果/结论]在现代社会，公权力应该对网络言论采取更加宽容的态度。公权力在面对有效的网络信息和虚构的网络谣言时，需要审慎对待并保持一种平衡的态度。随着后疫情时代的发展，公权力应当允许网络言论权的边界适度扩张，对网络言论的审查采取实质性标准，并只在可能涉及刑事案件时再进行干预。

红树林是全球净初级生产力最高的生态系统之一,其在全球气候变化和海岸带地理环境演变研究中发挥着重要作用。快速且准确地获取大范围红树林空间分布,对于红树林资源的有效管理和开发利用具有重要意义。Landsat系列卫星影像已成为大范围、长周期红树林分布信息提取的重要数据源。选取华南沿海的英罗湾和珍珠港作为实验区,利用Landsat-8 OLI影像结合归一化差异红树林指数(Normalized Difference Mangrove Index,NDMI)、综合红树林识别指数(Combined Mangrove Recognition Index,CMRI)、模块化红树林识别指数(Modular Mangrove Recognition Index,MMRI)、红树林指数(Mangrove Index,MI)和红树林植被指数(Mangrove Vegetation Index,MVI)5种指数来提取红树林分布信息,并对比5种指数用于红树林提取的效果,筛选适用于Landsat-8 OLI影像的最佳红树林提取指数。提出了结合归一化差异水体指数(Normalized Difference Water Index,NDWI)优化的红树林分布信息提取方案,以提升红树林分布信息的遥感监测能力,并应用于广西沿海大范围红树林空间分布的提取。研究结果表明:(1)基于Landsat-8 OLI影像和指数法可以有效提取红树林分布信息;用于提取红树林的5种指数中MVI指数的提取效果最好,CMRI指数的提取效果最差。(2)结合NDWI指数可以进一步提高红树林提取精度,优化后的MVI指数应用于广西沿海红树林的提取结果最佳,总体精度达到97.10%。本文提出的研究方案和红树林指数阈值范围,可为大范围红树林分布提取提供参考和决策支持。
