Effects of CO_2 Enrichment on Photosynthesis,Growth,and Biochemical Composition of Seagrass Thalassia hemprichii (Ehrenb.) Aschers

The effects of CO2 enrichment on various ecophysiological parameters of tropical seagrass Thalassia hemprichii （Ehrenb.） Aschers were tested. T. hemprichii, collected from a seagrass bed in Xincun Bay, Hainan island of Southern China, was cultured at 4 CO2（aq） concentrations in flow-through seawater aquaria bubbled with CO2. CO2 enrichment considerably enhanced the relative maximum electron transport rate （RETRmax） and minimum saturating irradiance （Ek） of T. hemprichii. Leaf growth rate of CO2- enriched plants was significantly higher than that in unenriched treatment. Nonstructural carbohydrates （NSC） of T. hemprichii, especially in belowground tissues, increased strongly with elevated CO2（aq）, suggesting a translocation of photosynthate from aboveground to belowground tissues. Carbon content in belowground tissues showed a similar response with NSC, while in aboveground tissues, carbon content was not affected by CO2 treatments. In contrast, with increasing CO2（aq）, nitrogen content in aboveground tissues markedly decreased, but nitrogen content in belowground was nearly constant. Carbon： nitrogen ratio in both tissues were obviously enhanced by increasing CO2（aq）. Thus, these results indicate that T. hemprichii may respond positively to CO2-induced acidification of the coastal ocean. Moreover, the CO2-stimulated improvement of photosynthesis and NSC content may partially offset negative effects of severe environmental disturbance such as underwater light reduction.

In recent years,various transformable nanoparticles（NPs）were successfully prepared and widely utilized for biomedical *** sizes,surface charges or morphologies of transformable NPs would affect their behavior in physiological/pathological conditions including circulation,penetration,accumulation and retention *** other way round,the NPs could be precisely modulated in the specific physiological/pathological condition for precision theranostics of ***,we summarized recent advances of transformable NPs for disease diagnostics and *** this review,the transformation of NPs was divided into three groups including changes in size,surface charge and morphology,which was induced by internal stimuli,such as p H,enzyme,receptor or external stimuli,such as light,temperature ***,we focused on the characterization of structural transformation in vivo,as well as the transformation-induced biological effects for theranostics of disease.

A PKS gene, pks-1, is involved in chaetoglobosin biosynthesis, pigmentation and sporulation in Chaetomium globosum

Chaetomium globosum is one of the most common fungi in nature. It is best known for producing chaetoglobosins; however, the molecular basis of chaetoglobosin biosynthesis is poorly understood in this fungus. In this study, we utilized RNA inter- ference （RNAi） to characterize a polyketide synthase gene, pks-1, in C. globosum that is involved in the production of chaeto- globosin A. When pks-1 was knocked down by RNAi, the production of chaetoglobosin A dramatically decreased. Knock-down mutants also displayed a pigment-deficient phenotype. These results suggest that the two polyketides, melanin and chaetoglobosin, are likely to share common biosynthetic steps. Most importantly, we found that pks-I also plays a critical role in sporulation. The silenced mutants ofpks-1 lost the ability to produce spores. We propose that polyketides may modulate cellular development via an unidentified action. We also suggest that C. globosum pks-1 is unique because of its triple role in melanin formation, chaetoglobosin biosynthesis and sporulation. This work may shed light on chaetoglobosin biosynthesis and indicates a relationship between secondary metabolism and fungal morphogenesis.

Nowadays,lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)play a crucial role in modern society in the aspect of portable electronic devices and large-scale smart ***,the current performance of lithium-ion batteries has been unable to meet the growing expectations of society and scientific ***,we have synthetically investigated availability of 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer as anode based on DFT for LIBs *** findings have demonstrated that 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer is a semiconductor with a small band gap of 0.2 eV,which suggest that the electronic property of 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer would take place an evident shift from semiconductor property to metallic property after Li ***,we checked the stability of 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer and investigated the viability of exfoliation from bulk multilayer Ni-TABQ to form 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer in the light of exfoliation energy and binding *** continuously studied electrochemical properties of 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer with respect of theoretical specific capacity,Li-ion diffusion barriers and open-circuit *** the charging process,2D Ni-TABQ monolayer can achieve a high specific capacity of 722 m Ah/g with an open-circuit voltage range from 1.12 V to 0.22 *** aforementioned results make the 2D Ni-TABQ monolayer a promising anode for LIBs.

The interfacing study of biopolymer and supramolecular chemistry enables a better understanding of fundamental biochemical processes and the creating of new high-performance biomaterials. In this review, we introduced an ＂in vivo self-assembly＂ strategy which means in situ construction of functional self-assembled superstructures in specific physiological or pathological conditions in cell, tissue or animal levels that exhibit diverse biomedical effects. By using this strategy, unexpected phenomena and insights, e.g, assembly/aggregation induced retention （AIR） effect have been demonstrated where the self-assembled nanostructures showed extraordinary enhanced accumulation and retention of therapeutics in targeted sites.

Transcriptional Regulation of Urokinase Receptor in High-(95D) and Low-metastatic (95C) Human Lung Cancer Cells

To study the transcriptional regulation of urokinase receptor (uPAR) in high- (95D) and low-metastatic (95C) human lung cancer cells, we performed PCR to amplify 2238 bp uPAR promoter from 95C and 95D cells. According to the results of sequencing, five different bases are found in uPAR promoter between 95C and 95D cells. The results of luciferase activity assay showed that these differences have no significant effect on the uPAR promoter activity. Based on a normal uPAR promoter, progressive truncated mutants were constructed. The transient transfection/reporter assay showed that the promoter region from –136 to +9 may interact with relevant nuclear factors, which result in different levels of uPAR expression between 95C and 95D cells.

Fluorinated carbons(CF_(x))/Li primary batteries with high theoretical energy density have been applied as indispensable energy storage devices with no need for rechargeability,yet plagued by poor rate capability and narrow temperature adaptability in actual ***,benefiting from precise solvation engineering for synergistic coordination of anions and low-affinity solvents,the optimized cyclic ether-based electrolyte is elaborated to significantly facilitate overall reaction dynamics closely correlated to lower desolvation *** a result,the excellent rate(15 C,650 mAh g^(-1))at room-temperature and ultra-lowtemperature performance dropping to-80°C(495 mAh g^(-1)at average output voltage of 2.11 V)is delivered by the end of 1.5 V cut-off voltage,far superior to other organic liquid ***,the CF_(x)/Li cell employing the high-loading electrode(18-22 mg cm^(-2))still yields 1,683 and 1,395 Wh kg^(-1)in the case of-40°C and-60°C,*** short,the novel design strategy for cyclic ethers as basic solvents is proposed to enable the CF_(x)/Li battery with superb subzero performances,which shows great potential in practical application for extreme environments.

T cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain containing molecule-3(Tim-3) was originally identified as a marker expressed on activated Th1 cell *** it was reported that this protein negatively regulates the immune responses against viral infection and has implications for autoimmune ***, the role of Tim-3+ CD4 T cells in human tumor remains largely *** investigate the expression and function of Tim-3+ CD4 T cells in human hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC), we compared the expression level of Tim 3 in CD4 T cells from nontumor-infiltrating lymphocytes(NIL), tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes(TIL), as well as peripheral blood from HCC patients and healthy *** percentages of Tim-3+ CD4 T cells were found in the peripheral blood from HCC patients and healthy donors, while more Tim-3+ CD4 T cells were found in TIL when comparing with the corresponding ***, Tim-3+ CD4 T cells in tumor tissue produced less T helper 1 type cytokines such as IFN-γ or IL-2 relative to Tim-3- CD4 T ***, Tim-3+ CD4 T cells from TIL define a population of functional CD25+CD127lowFoxp3+ regulatory T cells(Treg) that could suppress autologous CD8 T cell proliferation and cytokine ***, our data indicate that Tim-3+ CD4 T cells function as a negative regulator in anti-tumor response and contribute to immune suppressive microenvironment in ***, targeting Tim-3 in Treg may help to develop novel strategy for HCC immunotherapy.

Open-framework microporous materials have been extensively studied during the past decades due to their rich structural chemistry and widespread potential applications in catalysis,adsorption,ion-exchange processes and so forth[1-3].Since the discovery of crystalline aluminophosphate molecular sieves in 1982,a great deal of effort has been paid to the synthesis of open-framework microporous metal *** recently,the synthesis of open-framework metal phosphites by incorporating the pseudo-pyramidal phosphite groups[HPO]in place of tetrahedral phosphate units[PO]into the frameworks has resulted in a new class of metal phosphite compounds with more open *** Bonavia et *** the first organically templatedphosphite with open framework,notable examples are *** an important class of inorganic framework materials,metal phosphites exhibit rich compositional and structural diversity,because the presence of three-connected HPOcenters favors to reduce the M-O-P connectivity to generate interrupted open-framework with low-coordinated large pore sizes and low framework *** on mentioned information,by employing three-connected HPOcenterand Co/Mncations,we successfully prepared two novel phosphites[(CH)NH]M(HPO)(M=Co(1),Mn(2))with extra-large 16-membered ring(16MR)*** Co and Mn centers are in tetrahedral sphere,forming 3D open *** one example of four-coordinate heterometals manganese phosphite(Zn/Mn)has ever been reported in a retracted article,the compound 2 is the first four-coordinate monometallic manganese phosphite.

Polymetallic complexes have attracted a focus of research due to their fascinating structures and potential applications in magnetism,*** the past few decades,many efforts have been paid to obtain new coordination polymers with multifunction,and great achievements for this field are created[1].However,the rational designs and syntheses of such complexes are still hugechallenges because the coordination process is acutely influenced by many factors,such as the kind of metal ions,ligands,ratio of metal salts and ligands,reaction solvent,reaction temperature and so on[2,3].Hence,the proper choice of ligands is crucially effective to obtain attractivearchitectures and intrinsic functions[4].Bis-tris propane(HL)including a NO donor site,is a flexible ligand and has been well-used to build high-nuclearity clusters[5].Based on thementioned above,we report the syntheses and structures of three new complexes CoCo(HL)Cl(MeOH)(1),[CoCo(HL)(CHCOO)(HCOO).HO](2),[CoCo(HL)(HCOO)(NO).2HO](3).As shown in Figure 1,compound 1 is the first 0D heptanuclear cluster based on *** Co(CHCOO).4HO to replace CoCl.6HO andchanging the solvent CHOH into DMF/CHOH,the 0D clusters are linked by HCOOions,forming 1D zigzag-like chain structure *** Co(NO).6HO was introduced,all coordination CHCOOions in compound 2 were substituted by HCOOions and the 1D chains were further bridged by HCOOions,forming 3D framework 3(Figure 1).Magnetic studied show that compound 1 exhibitsferrimagnetic *** compound 2 shows antiferromagnetic interactions and there exists spin canting in compound 3.
