Aims Abiotic stresses may interact with each other to determine impacts on plants so that their combined impact is less than or more than *** UV-B radiation and surface ozone(O3)are two major components of global change that may have such interactive ***,invasive and native populations of plants may respond differently to stresses as they can vary in primary and secondary *** Here,we conducted a factorial field experiment with open-top chambers assigned to an ozone treatment(ambient,100 ppb,or 150 ppb)and UV-B treatment(ambient or increased 20%).We grew seedlings of native and invasive populations of Triadica sebifera in these chambers for one growing *** Findings Invasive plants grew faster than native plants in ambient UV-B but they did not differ significantly in elevated *** production of invasive plants was especially sensitive to UV-B in a way that increased with UV-B for native plants but decreased for invasive plants which may be important for nutrient *** ambient UV-B,total mass decreased as ozone *** mass was lower with elevated UV-B but there was no additional impact of increasing *** area did not decrease with UV-B so SLA and LAR were lowest at ambient ozone *** results suggest that the effects of ozone will depend on UV-B conditions perhaps due to changes in foliar *** traits that allow invasive populations of plants to be successful invaders may make them especially sensitive to UV-B which may reduce their success in future climatic conditions.

OBJECTIVE:To assess the long-term effectiveness of Huangqi(Radix Astragali Mongolici,HQ)-based Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).METHODS:Nine databases were searched to retrieve available randomized controlled trials that compared HQbased TCM and Western Medicines in the treatment of *** methodological quality of the included studies was assessed using the Cochrane bias risk tool,and RevMan 5.4 was used for data *** effect estimates of interest were risk ratio(RR),mean difference(MD)or standardized mean difference(SMD)with 95%confidence interval(CI).RESULTS:The results from 48 available studies assessing 3759 patients demonstrated that cases administered HQ-based TCM[RR=1.30,95%CI(1.21,1.40),P<0.00001]or HQ-based TCM combined with Western Medicines[RR=1.25,95%CI(1.19,1.31),P<0.00001]exhibited higher total efficacy rates than individuals who received Western Medicine *** results showed that the HQ-based TCM group had decreased Toronto Clinical Scoring System scores[MD=-1.50,95%CI(-1.83,-1.17),P<0.00001],and reduced serum interleukin 6[SMD=-0.57,95%CI(-0.87,-0.27),P=0.0002]and tumor necrosis factors-αlevels[SMD=-0.60,95%CI(-0.95,-0.25),P=0.0009].In addition,both HQ-based TCM and HQbased TCM combined with Western Medicine increased nerve conduction velocity and decreased glycaemia compared with Western Medicine *** terms of blood lipids,oxidative stress and adverse drug reactions,there were no significant differences between the HQ-based TCM groups and the Western Medicine control ***:The current Meta-analysis revealed that HQ-based TCM yields higher efficacy and safety than Western Medicine alone for the treatment of DPN,although further well-designed RCTs are required to validate these findings.

White birch(Betula platyphylla)is precious material for pulpwood and widely distributed in 14 provinces of *** study indicated that inhibited expression of a gene encoding an auxin amide synthase,BpGH3.5,in transgenic plants reduced the level of IAA–amino acid conjugation,resulting in more free IAA,thereby better growth of *** transgenic-B pGH3.5 lines to increase wood production in a wide range of environments is the goal for *** three field trials here,we measured tree height,diameter at breast height,and volume of 16 BpGH3.5-transgenic 7-year-old white birch lines(including 12 antisense strand lines and 4 overexpression lines)and a wild-type white birch line from three sites that varied greatly in their environmental *** select elite BpGH3.5-transgenic lines for each target environment,we used an additive main effects and multiplicative interaction model to analyze genotype by environment interaction,growth adaptability and *** selection criteria for elite transgenic lines were set as the average volume plus 0.75 times the standard deviation for the tested lines at each test *** showed that the effect of line and site for height was highly significant(P<0.01),and the effect of line×site was significant(P<0.05);selected as the elite lines were FG12,FG13 and FG27 at the Maoershan Experimental Forest Farm,FG13 and FG32 at the Shidaohe Forest Farm,and FG3 and FG31 at the Ecological Experiment Forest *** seven high-yield,stable lines can now be tested in production trials or adjacent trial areas with similar environmental conditions,while the high-yield,unstable lines should be tested in production trials in areas deemed suitable for their *** results provide guidance on which released transgenic elite lines will grow best in a wide range of conditions.

Soil microorganisms play pivotal roles in element biogeochemical cycling and ecological functions in wetland ecosystem,which may affect global climate *** in biotic and abiotic factors are known to affect soil microbial diversity,community structure and the corresponding ***,the relative importance of these biotic and abiotic factors on wetland soil microbial diversity and community structure on the QinghaiTibet Plateau remains poorly *** this study,we explored soil bacterial and fungal diversity and composition of five wetlands under two vegetation types(herbs vs Hippophae thibetana)in Changdu area,Tibet,through Illumina high throughput sequencing analysis of 16S rRNA for bacteria and internal transcribed spacer(ITS)for *** showed that soil bacterial alpha diversity was higher in *** dominated wetlands and was significantly and positively correlated with soil *** difference was detected in the soil fungal alpha diversity among samples and between vegetation *** dominant soil bacterial phyla were Proteobacteria,Actinobacteria,Acidobacteria,and *** Ascomycota,Basidiomycota and Mucoromycota were the dominant fungal *** bacterial and fungal community structures were significantly distinct by vegetation *** addition,redundancy analysis indicated that soil pH was the key factor shaping soil bacterial community ***,soil p H showed no effect on fungal ***,soil dissolved organic carbon was the major factor contributing to soil fungal community *** study emphasized that wetland soil microbial communities were distinct by vegetation types and the driving factors of microbial beta diversity between bacterial and fungal community were also different in wetlands in Changdu area.

There has been an increasing demand for high-performance and cost-effective organic electron-transport materials for organic light-emitting diodes （OLEDs）. In this contribution, we present a simple compound 3-（3-（4,6-diphenyl-l,3,5-triazin-2-yl）phenyl）-1,10-phenanthroline through the facile Pd-catalyzed coupling of a triphenyltriazine boronic ester with 3-hromo-1,10-phenanthroline. It shows a high Tg of 112℃. The ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy measurements reveal a deep HOMO level of -6.5 eV. The LUMO level is derived as -3.0 eV, based on the optical bandgap. The low-temperature solid-state phosphorescent spectrum gives a triplet energy of -2.36eV. n-Doping with 8-hydroxyquinolatolithium （Liq, 1：1） leads to considerably improved electron mobility of 5.2 × 10 -6 -5.8 × 10 -5 cm2 v-1 S-1 at E=（2-5） × 10 5Vcm -1, in contrast with the triarylphosphine oxide- phenantroline molecular conjugate we reported previously. It has been shown that through optimizing the device structure and hence suppressing polaron-exciton annihilation, introducing this single Liq-doped electron-transport layer could offer high-efficiency and stable phosphorescent OLEDs.

Electrocatalytic reduction of nitrate （NO3-） at low concentrations to ammonia （NH4+） still faces chal lenges of low NO3-conversion and NH4+selectivity due to the sluggish mass transfer and insufficien atomic hydrogen （H*） ***,we propose CuO/NiO heterojunction with the assistance of a built-in electric field to enhance mass transfer and H**** built-in electric field in Cu O/Ni O is success fully formed as demonstrated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ultraviolet photoemission spec *** results reveal that Cu O/Ni O achieves high NO3-reduction activity （100%） and NH4+selec tivity （100%） under low NO3-concentration conditions （100 mg/L NO3-,ca.22.6 mg/L NO3--N）,which i superior to that of many recently reported *** functional theory calculations furthe clarify that the built-in electric field triggers the enhanced adsorption of reactants on CuO/NiO hetero junction interface and strong d-p orbital hybridization between reactants and CuO/***,the free energy diagram of hydrogen evolution reaction of CuO/NiO confirms the realization of enhanced H*pro ***,coupling experiments and consecutive cycle tests demonstrate the potential of CuO/NiO in practical *** work may open up a new path and guide the development of efficien electrocatalysts for electrocatalytic reduction of NO3-at low concentrations to NH4+.
