Aims Better understanding of microbial compositional and physiological acclimation mechanisms is critical for predicting terrestrial ecosystem responses to global *** aim is to assess variations in soil microbial communities under future scenarios of changing precipitation and N deposition in a semiarid grassland of northern *** In order to explicitly estimate microbial responses,a field experiment with water and N addition was established in April 2005 and continuously conducted for 4 ***,soil microbial community composition and microbial C utilization potential were determined by phospholipid fatty acid(PLFA)and community-level physiological profiles,*** Findings Water addition had no effects on the PLFA concentrations of grampositive(GP)and negative bacteria(GN),total bacteria and ***,N addition caused significant reductions in the PLFA concentrations of GP,GN,total bacteria and fungi and thus decreased total PLFA of microbial ***,there were interactive effects of water and N addition on GN/GPand the ratio of fungal to bacterial PLFA(F/B).In addition,synergistic effects were found between water and nitrogen in affecting microbial C utilization potentials,which implies that microbial C utilization potentials tend to be enhanced when both N and water availability are ***,the microbial responses to water and N addition support our hypothesis that water and N addition may be combined together to affect microbial communities in the semiarid grassland.

Since 2020,the first national park of China,the Sanjiangyuan National Park(Park)has been put into operation in *** Park is one of the most vulnerable regions to the rapid climate change in the Tibetan *** have not been any investigations into the current status of the glacier resources in the Park so *** study reported the first summary of the glaciers in the Park at present and their variations since the *** data used here come from the two Chinese Glacier Inventories finished during 1969-1970 and 2006-2010,respectively,and the remote-sensing images during 1985-1990,1995-2000 and *** total glacier area in the Park is 772 km^(2)to our best estimate,much less than 2342 km^(2)reported in the first Chinese Glacier Inventory published in *** shrinkage rate of the glaciers in the Yangtze River Park(a sub-park)had slowed from-0.37%per year during the 1970s to-0.09%per year during 2002-2012 in area,while that in the Lancang River Park had sped up from-0.34%per year during 1968-2000 to-0.67%per year during *** are no glaciers in the Yellow River Park(a sub-park).The change in the glaciers was related to the regional relatively rapidly warming and insufficient mass supply from *** geographic features of the glaciers in the Yangtze and Lancang Parks also lead to their different change extents,most of which happened at 5500 m *** below.

Sea ice export through the Baffin Bay plays a vital role in modulating the sea ice cover variability in the Labrador *** this study,satellite-derived sea ice products are used to obtain the sea ice area flux(SIAF)through the three passages in the Baffin Bay(referred to as A,B,and C for the north,middle,and south passages,respectively).The spatial variability of the monthly sea ice drift in the Baffin Bay is *** interannual variability and trends in SIAF via the three passages are *** connection to several large-scale atmospheric circulation modes is *** the period of 1988-2015,the average annual(October to the following September)SIAF amounts to 555×10^(3) km^(2),642×10^(3) km^(2),and 551×10^(3) km^(2) through Passages A,B,and C,*** quantities are less than that observed through the Fram Strait(FS,707×10^(3) km^(2))of the corresponding *** positive trends in annual SIAF,on the order of 53.1×10^(3) km^(2)/(10 a)and 43.2×10^(3) km^(2)/(10 a)(significant at the 95%confidence level),are identified at Passages A and B,*** trend of the south passage(C),however,is slightly negative(-13.3×10^(3) km^(2)/(10 a),not statistically significant).The positive trends in annual SIAF through the Passages A and B are primarily attributable to the significant increases after *** connection between the Baffin Bay sea ice export and the North Atlantic Oscillation is not significant over the studied *** contrast,the association with the cross-gate sea level pressure difference is robust in the Baffin Bay(R equals 0.69 to 0.71,depending on the passages considered),but relatively weaker than that over FS(R=0.74).

Experimental Study on the Hydrodynamic Characteristics of a Submersible Fish Cage at Various Depths in Waves

Submersible fish cages can be submerged under the water to mitigate the negative effects that arise from severe sea conditions and improve the growing environment for the farmed fish. Thus they are increasingly applied in offshore aquaculture. To ensure both safety and economic efficiency of submersible fish cages, it is important to determine the optimum submergence depth. In this study, a series of physical model experiments were conducted to investigate the hydrodynamic performance of a submersible fish cage at various submergence depths(1/6, 1/4, 1/3, and 1/2 of the water depth as well as the floating condition for reference) with a model scale of 1:20. The results of the physical model experiment for the different depths were compared to analyze the effects of submergence depths on the mooring line tension and the movement of the floating collar. The results showed that the mooring line tension and the floating collar movement significantly attenuated with increasing submergence depth. However, the attenuation tendency became stable when the fish cage reached a certain depth. According to the results, 1/3 of water depth was determined as the optimal submergence depth of the fish cages. Deeper submergence depths showed no significant advantage from a perspective of the hydrodynamic characteristics of the fish cage. The determination of the optimum submergence depth is beneficial for the structural design and operation safety of submersible net cages.

SARS-CoV-2 has recently been found to have spread from humans to minks and then to have transmitted back to ***,it is unknown to what extent the human-to-human transmission caused by the variant has ***,we used publicly available SARS-CoV-2 genomic sequences from both humans and minks collected in Denmark and the Netherlands,and combined phylogenetic analysis with Bayesian inference under an epidemiological model,to trace the possibility of person-to-person *** results showed that at least 12.5%of all people being infected with dominated minkderived SARS-CoV-2 variants in Denmark and the Netherlands were caused by human-to-human transmission,indicating that this“backto-human”SARS-CoV-2 variant has already caused human-to-human *** study also indicated the need for monitoring this mink-derived and other animal source“back-to-human”SARS-CoV-2 in future and that prevention and control measures should be tailored to avoid large-scale community transmission caused by the virus jumping between animals and humans.

Objective: To explore the therapeutic effect and mechanism of myricctin on disseminated intravascular coagulation(DIC). Methods: The DIC model was established by injection of60 mg/kg LPS in KM mice, and the treatment groups were injected myricetin with different concentrations(25 or 50 mg/kg) 30 min before the model was established. Both coagulation indicators and organ function were tested, including PT, APTT, fibrinogen. AST, ALT. BUN and tissue section. In vitro, the inflammatory model of RAW 264.7 macrophage cells were established by 10 μg/mL LPS. The treatment group was treated with 50 μmol/mL myricetin for 30 min before LPS, and the expression of TNF-a and p-NF-KB was detected, further to explore the therapeutic mechanism. Results: LPS-induced DIC led to a reduction of fibrinogen and a rise of PT, APTT,AST, ALT, BUN levels, but the treatment of myricctin significantly inhibited these abnormalities. Histopathology analysis also revealed that myricetin remarkably protected the liver and renal damage. In vitro, the expression of TNF-α and p-NF-κB induced by LPS was repressed by myricetin. Conclusions: This study provides new insights into the protective effects of myricetin in LPS-induced DIC by anticoagulant and anti-inflammatory via suppressing the activation of p-NF-κB which decreased TNF-α level.

The low-activity cationic monomer tert-butyl-dimethyl-(4-methyl-pent-4-enyloxy)-silane was synthesized by Grignard reaction and hydroxyl-protection reaction. Living polyisobutylene chains were initially synthesized by controlled cationic polymerization and then capped with tert-butyl-dimethyl-(4-methyl-pent-4-enyloxy)-silane. The hydrolysis of these polyisobutylenes end capped with tert-butyl-dimethyl-(4-methyl-pent-4-enyloxy)-silane gave rise to hydroxytelechelic polyisobutylene. NMR analysis confirmed that the hydrolysis was complete. Results also showed that a low polymerization temperature favored the participation of tert-butyl-dimethyl-(4- methyl-pent-4?enyloxy)-silane in the end-capping reaction. Moreover, polyisobutylene-based polyurethane exhibited greater acid resistance than commercial polyurethane.
