Effect of high cholesterol diet on spatial learning and memory in a rat model of Alzheimer’s disease

BACKGROUND： Recently study indicates a potentially important link between cholesterol, Aβ deposit, and clinicopathological manifestation of Alzheimer＇s disease （AD）. OBJECTIVE： To study the effect of high cholesterol diet on cognitive function and neuronal loss of hippocampal dentate gyrus in AD model rats. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A randomized controlled animal study, which was performed in the Laboratory of Stem Cells, Department of Pathology, Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA from February 2006 to March 2007. MATERIALS： Twenty healthy, male, Wistar rats, aged 3-4 months and weighing （300 ± 20） g, were selected for this study. A β 1- 40 was provided by Sigma Company, USA. Standard diet and high cholesterol diet mixed with cholesterol （5%）, sodium hypocholic acid （1%）, lard （10%）, and ordinary rat food （84%） were provided by Experimental Animal Center, Institute of Field Surgery, Daping Hospital, Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA. METHODS： Rats were fed on high cholesterol diet or standard diet for eight successive weeks. Then, rats were randomly divided into cholesterol diet ＋A β, high cholesterol diet ＋ phosphate buffered saline（PBS）, standard diet ＋ A β, and standard diet ＋ PBS group, with five rats in each group. AD rat models were established by local injection of A β 1-40 solution （10 μ L） into the hippocampal dentate gyrus. Rats in the control group were injected with the same volume of PBS. After injection, rat were fed for two weeks MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Neuronal cells in the hippocampal dentate gyrus were detected by Nissl staining; spatial navigation and spatial probe were detected by Morris water maze to reflect learning and memory. RESULTS： Twenty rats were included in the final analysis, without any loss. （1） Neuronal numbers： neuronal loss in the high cholesterol diet ＋ A β and standard diet ＋ A β groups was significantly higher than in the PBS groups （P 〈 0.01）. AIM： TO compare the efficacies of one-day quadruple therapy and seven-day triple therapy in Chinese patients. METHODS： Sixty consecutive patients with nonulcer dyspepsia and confirmed H pylori infection were randomized to receive either omeprazole 40 mg, amoxycillin 1 g, and furazolidone 100 mg, all twice a day for 7 d or omeprazole 20 mg （at breakfast and dinner）, amoxicillin 1 g, furazolidone 200 mg, and colloidal bismuth subcitrate 220 mg four times for only one day. H pylori status was determined before and at least 5 weeks after therapy by endoscopy with antral and corpus biopsies for rapid urease test and histology. RESULTS： Hpyloi eradication was successful in 66.67% （20/30） patients in the 7-d group and in 36.67% （11/30） patients in the 1-day group （P = 0.037）. Side effects were induced by the treatment in 13.3% （4/30） patients of each group, but these were all self-limiting, shortlasting, and did not require any specific treatment. CONCLUSION： The one-day quadruple therapy is less effective than the one-week regimen in curing H pylori infection in Chinese patients.

Hybrid Power-line/Visible-light Communication(HPVC)network has been one of the most promising Cooperative Communication(CC)technologies for constructing Smart Home due to its superior communication reliability and hardware *** research on HPVC networks focuses on the performance analysis and optimization of the Physical(PHY)layer,where the Power line Communication(PLC)component only serves as the backbone to provide power to light Emitting Diode(LED)*** designing a Media Access Control(MAC)protocol remains a great challenge because it allows both PLC and Visible light Communication(VLC)components to operate data transmission,i.e.,to achieve a true HPVC network *** solve this problem,we propose a new HPC network MAC protocol(HPVC MAC)based on Carrier Sense Multiple Access/Collision Avoidance(CSMA/CA)by combining IEEE 802.15.7 and IEEE 1901 ***,we add an Additional Assistance(AA)layer to provide the channel selection strategies for sensor stations,so that they can complete data transmission on the selected channel via the specified CSMA/CA mechanism,*** on this,we give a detailed working principle of the HPVC MAC,followed by the construction of a joint analytical model for mathematicalmathematical validation of the HPVC *** the modeling process,the impacts of PHY layer settings(including channel fading types and additive noise feature),CSMA/CA mechanisms of 802.15.7 and 1901,and practical configurations(such as traffic rate,transit buffer size)are comprehensively taken into ***,we prove the proposed analytical model has the ***,through extensive simulations,we characterize the HPVC MAC performance under different system parameters and verify the correctness of the corresponding analytical model with an average error rate of 4.62%between the simulation and analytical results.

Physical Vapor Deposited(PVD)TiAlN coatings are extensively utilized as protective layers for cutting tools,renowned for their excellent comprehensive *** optimize quality control of TiAlN coatings for cutting tools,a multi-scale simulation approach is proposed that encompasses the microstructure evolution of coatings considering the entire preparation and service lifecycle of PVD TiAlN *** scheme employs phase-field simulation to capture the essential microstructure of the PVD-prepared TiAlN ***,cutting simulation is used to determine the service temperature experienced during cutting processes at varying ***-Hilliard modeling is finally utilized to consume the microstructure and service condition data to acquaint the microstructure evolution of TiAlN coatings throughout the cutting *** methodology effectively establishes a correlation between service temperature and its impact on the microstructure evolution of TiAlN *** is expected that the present multi-scale numerical simulation approach will provide innovative strategies for assisting property design and lifespan prediction of TiAlN coatings.

Sentiment analysis is a fine‐grained analysis task that aims to identify the sentiment polarity of a specified *** methods in Chinese sentiment analysis tasks only consider sentiment features from a single pole and scale and thus cannot fully exploit and utilise sentiment feature information,making their performance less than *** resolve the problem,the authors propose a new method,GP‐FMLNet,that integrates both glyph and phonetic information and design a novel feature matrix learning process for phonetic features with which to model words that have the same pinyin information but different glyph *** method solves the problem of misspelling words influencing sentiment polarity prediction ***,the authors iteratively mine character,glyph,and pinyin features from the input comments ***,the authors use soft attention and matrix compound modules to model the phonetic features,which empowers their model to keep on zeroing in on the dynamic‐setting words in various positions and to dispense with the impacts of the deceptive‐setting ***-periments on six public datasets prove that the proposed model fully utilises the glyph and phonetic information and improves on the performance of existing Chinese senti-ment analysis algorithms.

Perforation is a pivotal technique employed to establish main flow channels within the reservoir formation at the outset of hydraulic fracturing *** perforation designs is critical for augmenting the efficacy of hydraulic fracturing and boosting oil or gas *** this study,we employ a hybrid finite-discrete element method,known as the continuous–discontinuous element method(CDEM),to simulate the initiation of post-perforation hydraulic fractures and to derive enhanced design *** model incorporates the four most prevalent perforation geometries,as delineated in an engineering technical ***-world perforations deviate from the ideal cylindrical shape,exhibiting variable cross-sectional profiles that typically manifest as an initial constriction followed by an expansion,a feature consistent across all four perforation *** simulations take into account variations in perforation hole geometries,cross-sectional diameters,and perforation *** findings show that perforations generated by the 39g DP3 HMX perforating bullet yield the lowest breakdown pressure,which inversely correlates with increases in sectional diameter and perforation ***,this study reveals the relationship between breakdown pressure and fracture degree,providing valuable insights for engineers and designers to refine perforation strategies.

Magnesium(Mg)alloy is considered as a promising biodegradable implant material but restricted to rapid ***,the new strategies based on thixomolding process had been explored to utilize the outstanding anti-permeability of graphene nanosheets(GNPs)while inhibit its galvanic corrosion with the matrix,so as to improve the corrosion resistance of *** agglomerate of GNPs with 0.9 wt%content is the main reason for the deterioration of corrosion performance due to the formation of micro-galvanic *** grain refinement of composites with 0.6 wt%content had positive effects on the better corrosion *** process adjusting,the unique distributions of GNPs along grain boundaries play a vital role in improving the corrosion *** can be ascribed to the following mechanisms:(I)The barriers can be established between the Mg matrix and corrosive medium,hence blocking the charge transfer at the interface;(II)The GNPs can effectively promote apatite deposition on the Mg matrix,leading to form dense apatite layers and prevent the further invasion of SBF;(III)The GNPs acting as reinforcements exists in the corrosion layer and apatite layer,impede the apatite layer falling off from the Mg *** findings broaden the horizon for biomedical applications in Mg matrix composites to realize desired performances.

The development of rechargeable magnesium(Mg) batteries is of practical significance to upgrade the electric energy storage devices due to exceptional capacity and abundant resources of Mg-metal ***,the reversible Mg electrochemistry suffers from unsatisfied rate capability and lifespan,mainly caused by non-uniform distribution of *** this work,a fresh design concept of threedimensional carbon cloths scaffolds is proposed to overcome the uncontrollable Mg growth via homogenizing electric field and improving magnesiophilicity.A microscopic smooth and nitrogen-containing defective carbonaceous layer is constructed through a facile pyrolysis of ZIF8 on carbon *** revealed by finite element simulation and DFT calculation results,the smooth surface endows with uniform electric field distribution and simultaneously the nitrogen-doping species enable good magnesiophilicity of *** fine and uniform Mg nucleus as well as the inner electrodeposit behavior are also *** a result,an exceptional cycle life of 500 cycles at 4.0 mA cm^(-2) and 4.0 mA h cm^(-2) is firstly realized to our best ***,the functional scaffolds can be cycled for over 2200 h at 2.0 mA cm^(-2) under a normalized capacity of 5.0 mA h cm^(-2),far exceeding previous *** work offers an effective approach to enable the full potential of carbon cloths-based scaffolds towards metal storage for next generation battery applications.
