Super-selective arterial embolization in the control of acute lower gastrointestinal hemorrhage

BACKGROUND Acute gastrointestinal bleeding is an emergency condition that can lead to significant morbidity and *** is considered the preferred therapy in the treatment of lower gastrointestinal bleeding when it is unrealistic to perform the surgery or vasopressin infusion in this *** of acute lower gastrointestinal(GI)bleeding(any site below the ligament of Treitz)using this technique has not reached a consensus,because of the belief that the risk of intestinal infarction in this condition is extremely *** purpose of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of this technique in a retrospective group of patients who underwent embolization for acute lower GI *** To evaluate the efficacy and safety of super-selective arterial embolization in the management of acute lower GI *** A series of 31 consecutive patients with angiographically demonstrated small intestinal or colonic bleeding was retrospectively *** success rate and complication rate of super-selective embolization were *** Five out of thirty-one patients(16.1%)could not achieve sufficiently selective catheterization to permit *** control of bleeding was achieved in 26 patients(100%),and relapsed GI bleeding occurred in 1 of them at 1 wk after the *** clinically apparent bowel infarctions were observed in patients undergoing *** Super-selective embolization is a safe therapeutic method for acute lower GI bleeding,and it is suitable and effective for many patients suffering this ***,careful technique and suitable embolic agent are essential to the successful operation.

BACKGROUND Biliary adenomas that occur in the extrahepatic biliary tree are *** is difficult to distinguish it from cholangiocarcinoma or cholangiolithiasis by various imaging examinations,and it is very easy to be *** To evaluate the cumulative experiences including clinical characteristics and treatments of nine patients diagnosed with extrahepatic biliary adenoma admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University from 2016 to *** A total of nine patients were included in our *** laboratory examinations,disease diagnosis,therapy and pathological characteristics,and follow-up of every patient were *** Our cohort consisted of six females and three males with an average diagnosis age of 65.1 years(range 46-87).Six extrahepatic biliary adenomas were located in the common bile ducts and three in the hepatic *** initial presentation,all of the patients have symptom of biliary origin,including obstructive jaundice(4/9,44.4%),abdominal pain(6/9,66.7%),and fever(3/9,33.3%).Preoperative imaging examination considered bile duct carcinoma in 6 cases and bile duct calculi in 3 *** the patients received surgical treatment and were confirmed by pathology as biliary *** symptoms improved significantly in all 9 patients after *** of nine patients recovered well at follow-up without tumor *** patient died 2 mo after the surgery due to heart *** patient developed jaundice again 8 mo after surgery,underwent endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and biliary stent *** Benign extrahepatic biliary tumors are rare and difficult to diagnosis *** choledochoscopy and timely biopsy may offer great advantages.

Solvothermal synthesis and adsorption performance of layered boehmite using aluminum chloride and high-alumina fly ash

High alumina fly ash(FAHAl)is a kind of bulk solid waste unique to China,whose availability of high-value aluminum and the threat to the environment makes its high-value utilization *** this work,the alumina containing leaching solution obtained from Na_(2)CO_(3) roasting and HCl leaching of FAHAl was used as the mother liquor to prepare layered boehmite in *** preparation process with AlCl_(3) as the raw material was also *** formation process and mechanism of boehmite,the choice of solvent,along with the adsorption capability of Congo red were analyzed by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy,Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method and adsorption *** showed that during the preparation of layered boehmite,the precursor Al(OH)_(3) from the reaction of Al^(3+) and OH-is transformed into boehmiteγ-*** existence of ethanol is beneficial to regulate and promote the growth of boehmite crystal *** water and ethanol are mixed with a volume ratio of 2:1 and used as the solvent,the maximum specific surface area of the boehmite is obtained at 135.7 m^(2)·g^(-1),and 99.16%of Congo red can be absorbed after 10 min when AlCl3 is used as a raw *** purified leaching solution is used as the mother liquid,the crystallinity of boehmite decreases slightly when the pH value decreases from 12.5 to *** pH is 11,the removal efficiency of Congo red reaches a maximum of 72.25%.This process not only achieves the extraction of aluminum and high-value utilization of FAHAl but also provides a thought to prepare layered boehmite with adsorption properties.

Targeted therapy is crucial for advanced colorectal cancer(CRC) positive for genetic drivers. With advances in deep sequencing technology and new targeted drugs, existing standard molecular pathological detection systems and therapeutic strategies can no longer meet the requirements for careful management of patients with advanced CRC. Thus, rare genetic variations require diagnosis and targeted therapy in clinical practice. Rare gene mutations, amplifications, and rearrangements are usually associated with poor prognosis and poor response to conventional therapy. This review summarizes the clinical diagnosis and treatment of rare genetic variations, in genes including erb-b2 receptor tyrosine kinase 2(ERBB2), B-Raf proto-oncogene, serine/threonine kinase(BRAF), ALK receptor tyrosine kinase/ROS proto-oncogene 1, receptor tyrosine kinase(ALK/ROS1), neurotrophic receptor tyrosine kinases(NTRKs), ret proto-oncogene(RET), fibroblast growth factor receptor 2(FGFR2), and epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR), to enhance understanding and identify more accurate personalized treatments for patients with rare genetic variations.

Feasibility of medical radioisotope production based on the proton beams at China Spallation Neutron Source

The utilization of a proton beam from the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)for producing medical radioisotopes is appealing owing to its high current intensity and high *** medical isotope production based on the proton beam at the CSNS is significant for the development of future radiopharmaceuticals,particularly for theα-emitting *** production yield and activity of typical medical isotopes were estimated using the FLUKA *** results indicate that the 300-MeV proton beam with a power of 100 kW at CSNS-II is highly suitable for proof-of-principle studies of most medical *** particular,this proton beam offers tremendous advantages for the large-scale production of alpha radioisotopes,such as 225Ac,whose theoretical production yield can reach approximately 57 Ci/*** on these results,we provide perspectives on the use of CSNS proton beams to produce radioisotopes for medical applications.

Unraveling the role of NiSnPH@OOH/CC perovskite hydroxide for efficient electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol to formate

The sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is the key tailback for hydrogen production from the water *** OER with thermodynamically auspicious methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)can significantly boost the H_(2) and value-added products ***,it is currently challenging to achieve a synergistic manipulation of product selectivity and performance for MOR ***,we report NiSnPH@OOH/CC(CC=carbon cloth)perovskite hydroxide nanosphere as an efficient MOR electrocatalyst with high activity,stability,and selectivity towards methanol oxidation to formate.A surface amorphous layer of defect rich NiOOH was generated in operando by selective Sn leaching with stable perovskite hydroxide bulk structure,which mitigates the oxidative power and optimizes the local coordination environment of the active NiOOH *** situ Raman combined with electrochemical studies further confirm the key active species,NiOOH,generated in operando enhance the MOR and blocking the over oxidation of methanol to CO_(2).As a result,NiSnPH@OOH/CC effectively masks the OER and attains>99%selectivity with 100%Faradic efficiency for *** results of this study show the advances of NiSnPH@OOH/CC as an efficient electrocatalyst for MOR and also suggest its potential applications for various small organic molecules oxidation.

The recently discovered ATi_(3)Bi_(5)(A=Cs,Rb)exhibit intriguing quantum phenomena including superconductivity,electronic nematicity,and abundant topological ***_(3)Bi_(5)present promising platforms for studying kagome superconductivity,band topology,and charge orders in parallel with *** this work,we comprehensively analyze various properties of ATi_(3)Bi_(5)covering superconductivity under pressure and doping,band topology under pressure,thermal conductivity,heat capacity,electrical resistance,and spin Hall conductivity(SHC)using first-principles *** superconducting transition temperature(Tc)of CsTi_(3)Bi_(5)and RbTi_(3)Bi_(5)at ambient pressure are about 1.85 and 1.92 *** subject to pressure,Tc of CsTi_(3)Bi_(5)exhibits a special valley and dome shape,which arises from quasi-two-dimensional compression to three-dimensional isotropic compression within the context of an overall decreasing ***,Tc of RbTi_(3)Bi_(5)can be effectively enhanced up to 3.09 K by tuning the kagome van Hove singularities(VHSs)and flat band through *** can also induce abundant topological surface states at the Fermi energy(EF)and tune VHSs across ***,our transport calculations are in excellent agreement with recent experiments,confirming the absence of charge density ***,SHC of CsTi_(3)Bi_(5)can reach up to 226h·(e·Ω·cm)^(-1)at *** work provides a timely and detailed analysis of the rich physical properties for ATi_(3)Bi_(5),offering valuable insights for further experimental verifications and investigations in this field.
