Risk factors and predictive model of cerebral edema after road traffic accidents-related traumatic brain injury

Purpose:Cerebral edema(CE)is the main secondary injury following traumatic brain injury(TBI)caused by road traffic accidents(RTAs).It is challenging to be predicted *** this study,we aimed to develop a prediction model for CE by identifying its risk factors and comparing the timing of edema occurrence in TBI patients with varying levels of ***:This case-control study included 218 patients with TBI caused by *** cohort was divided into CE and non-CE groups,according to CT results within 7 *** data,imaging data,and clinical data were collected and *** variables that follow normal distribution were presented as mean±standard deviation,those that do not follow normal distribution were presented as median(Q1,Q3).Categorical variables were expressed as *** Chi-square test and logistic regression analysis were used to identify risk factors for *** curve fitting was performed to predict the time to secondary CE in TBI patients with different levels of *** efficacy of the model was evaluated using the receiver operator characteristic ***:According to the study,almost half(47.3%)of the patients were found to have *** risk factors associated with CE were bilateral frontal lobe contusion,unilateral frontal lobe contusion,cerebral contusion,subarachnoid hemorrhage,and abbreviated injury scale(AIS).The odds ratio values for these factors were 7.27(95%confidence interval(CI):2.08-25.42,p=0.002),2.85(95%CI:1.11-7.31,p=0.030),2.62(95%CI:1.12-6.13,p=0.027),2.44(95%CI:1.25-4.76,p=0.009),and 1.5(95%CI:1.10-2.04,p=0.009),*** also observed that patients with mild/moderate TBI(AIS≤3)had a 50%probability of developing CE 19.7 h after injury(χ^(2)=13.82,adjusted R2=0.51),while patients with severe TBI(AIS>3)developed CE after 12.5 h(χ^(2)=18.48,adjusted R2=0.54).Finally,we conducted a receiver operator characteristic curve analysis of CE time,which showed an area under the curve of 0

Predictive value of intracranial high-density areas in neurological function

BACKGROUND Intracranial high-density areas(HDAs)have attracted considerable attention for predicting clinical outcomes;however,whether HDAs predict worse neurological function and mental health remains controversial and unclear,which requires further *** this prospective study,96 patients with acute ischemic stroke(AIS)who accepted endovascular mechanical thrombectomy(EMT)were *** enrolled patients underwent cranial computed tomography(CT)examination within 24 hours after *** data in terms of National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS),the 3-month modified Rankin Scale(mRS),self-rating depression scale(SDS),and self-rating anxiety scale(SAS)scores were collected and compared between patients with HDAs and non-HDAs and between patients with good and poor clinical *** to patients without HDAs,patients with HDAs presented severe neurological deficits(admission NIHSS score:18±3 vs 19±4),were more likely to have post-stroke disabilities(mRSxiety disorder(SAS score:52±8 vs 59±10).Compared to patients with a good prognosis,patients with a poor prognosis presented severe neurological deficits(admission NIHSS score:17±4 vs 20±3),were more likely to have HDAs on CT images(64%vs 33%),and suffered more severe depression(SDS score:55±19 vs 65±11)and anxiety(SAS score:50±8 vs 58±12).Multivariate analysis revealed that HDAs were independent nega-tive prognostic *** In conclusion,HDAs on CT images predicted poor prognosis and severe depressive and anxiety symptoms in patients with AIS who underwent EMT.

Polymer microspheres(PMs),such as polyacrylamide,have been widely applied for enhanced oil recovery(EOR),yet with environmental ***,we report a microfluid displacement technology containing a bio-based eco-friendly material,i.e.,calcium alginate(CaAlg)microspheres for *** dominant mechanisms responsible for EOR over Ca Alg fluid have been verified,including the microscopic oil displacement efficacy augmented by regulating capillary force(determined by the joint action of interfacial tension and wettability between different phases)and macroscopic sweep volume increment through profile control and mobility ratio *** comprehensive effectiveness can be further impacted when the CaAlg microsphere is embellished ulteriorly by using appropriate amount of sodium dodecyl sulfonate(SDS).The core flooding and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)tests demonstrate that CaAlg-SDS microsphere can balance the interphase property regulation(wettability alteration and IFT reduction)and rheology properties,enabling simultaneous profile control and oil *** introduction of SDS will have a negative impact on rheological properties,which is not favored for *** results show that the involvement of 4-m M SDS will provide the best behavior,with an EOR rate of 34.38%.This cost-effective and environmentally-friendly bio-microspherebased microfluidic displacement technology is expected to achieve“green”oil recovery in future oilfield exploitation.

Zinc-based flow battery is an energy storage technology with good application prospects because of its advantages of abundant raw materials,low cost,and environmental *** chemical stability of zinc electrodes exposed to electrolyte is a very important issue for zinc-based *** paper reports on details of chemical stability of the zinc metal exposed to a series of solutions,as well as the relationship between the morphological evolution of zinc electrodes and their properties in an alkaline *** corrosion of zinc electrodes by the electrolyte will change their surface ***,we observed that chemical corrosion is not the main contributor to the evolution of zinc electrode surface morphology,but the main contributor is the Zn/Zn^(2+)electrode *** morphological evolution of zinc electrodes was controlled by using ionic liquids,1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium acetate(EMIA),and 1-propylsulfonic-3-methylimidazolium tosylate(PSMIT),and the electrode performance was recorded during the morphological evolution *** was observed that the reversible change of zinc electrode morphology was accompanied by better electrode performance.

GP‐FMLNet:A feature matrix learning network enhanced by glyph and phonetic information for Chinese sentiment analysis

A small organic molecule strategy for remedying oxygen vacancies by bismuth defects in BiOBr nanosheet with excellent photocatalytic CO_(2)reduction

Defect modulation currently plays a decisive role in addressing the poor photoabsorption,sluggish electron hole separation,and high CO_(2)activation barrier in photocatalytic CO_(2)***,hunting for a straightforward strategy to balance the concentration of oxygen vacancy and metal cation defect in one photocatalyst is still a great ***,a bismuth vacancies BiOBr nanosheets(BiOBr-1)on the exposed[001]facets were constructed via an acetic acid molecule modification strategy,which can repair oxygen defect by bismuth vacancy in low-temperature solid-state chemical *** from the formed bismuth defects that can not only broaden light absorption and elevate charge separation efficiency,but also enhance adsorption and activation of CO_(2)molecules,the evolution rates of photocatalytic CO_(2)conversion into CO(71.23μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1))and CH4(8.90μmol·g^(-1)·h^(-1))attained by BiOBr-1 are superior 7.1 and 11 times to that of plate-like *** photocatalytic mechanisms including adsorption concentration and activation process of CO_(2)are further revealed by the in situ diffuse reflectance infrared flourier transform spectra(DRIFTS).This finding of the existence of distinct defects in ultrathin nanosheets undoubtedly leads to new possibilities for photocatalyst design using two-dimensional materials with high solar-driven photocatalytic activity.

Exposure to ephedrine attenuates Th1/Th2 imbalance underlying OVA-induced asthma through airway epithelial cell-derived exo-somal lnc-TRPM2-AS
