Clinical study of adjuvant therapy on ischemic stroke with salviae miltiorrhizae and ligustrazine

Objective: To study the effect of adjuvant therapy with salviae miltiorrhizae and ligustrazine injection on neural function injury, degree of oxidative stress reaction, chemotactic factor and adhesion molecule in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods: Patients with ischemic stroke admitted in our hospital from August 2013 to October 2015 were retrospectively analyzed and divided into conventional treatment (CT) group receiving conventional treatment and traditional Chinese medicine auxiliary (TCMA) group receiving adjuvant therapy with salviae miltiorrhizae and ligustrazine injection. After the treatment of the first month and the third month, serum was collected to detect the contents of nerve injury molecules, oxidative stress parameters, chemotactic factor and adhesion molecule. Results: After the 4-week treatment, the contents of serum neuron specific enolase, S100 calcium-binding protein B, heart-type fatty acid binding protein, malondialdehyde, advanced oxidation protein products, 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine, monocyte chemoattractant protein-1,CD40,CD40 ligand, vascular endothelial cadherin, soluble intercellular adhesion molecule 1 and soluble vascular adhesion molecule 1 in patients ofTCMA group were all significantly lower than those of CT group, and the contents of superoxidase dismutase, glutathione peroxidase and catalase were significantly higher than those of CT group. Interface engineering of Pt/CeO2-{100} catalysts for enhancing catalytic activity in auto-exhaust carbon particles oxidation

Herein,we fabricate an embedding structure at the interface between Pt nanoparticles （NPs） and CeO2-{100}nanocubes with surface defect sites （CeO2-SDS） through quenching and gas bubbling-assisted membrane reduction *** in-situ substitution of Pt NPs for atomic-layer Ce lattice significantly increases the amount of reactive oxygen species from 133.68μmol/g to 199.44μmol/*** a result,the distinctive geometric structure of Pt/CeO2-SDS catalyst substantially improves the catalytic activity and stability for soot oxidation compared with the catalyst with no quenching process,i.e.,its T50and TOF values are 332°C and 2.915 h-1,*** with the results of experimental investigations and density functional theory calculations,it is unveiled that the unique embedding structure of Pt/CeO2-SDS catalyst can facilitate significantly electron transfer from Pt to the CeO2-{100}support,and induce the formation of interfacial[Ce-Ox-Pt2]bond chains,which plays a crucial role in enhancing the key step of soot oxidation through the dual activation of surface lattice oxygen and molecular *** a fundamental revelation of the interfacial electronic transmission and corresponding modification strategy contributes a novel opportunity to develop high-efficient and stable noble metal catalysts at the atomic level.

An efficient quantum proactive incremental learning algorithm

In scenarios where a large amount of data needs to be learned,incremental learning can make full use of old knowledge,signif-icantly reduce the computational cost of the overall learning process,and maintain high *** this paper,taking the MaxCut problem as our example,we introduce the idea of incremental learning into quantum computing,and propose a Quantum Proactive Incremental Learning algorithm(QPIL).Instead of a one-off training of quantum circuit,QPIL contains a multi-phase training on gradually-increased subgraphs of all vertices,proactively reducing large-scale problems to smaller ones to solve in steps,providing an efficient solution for ***,some vertices and corresponding edges are randomly selected for training to obtain optimized parameters of the quantum circuit at ***,in each incremental phase,the remaining vertices and corresponding edges are gradually added and the parameters obtained from the previous phase are reused in the parameter initialization of the current *** perform experiments on 120 different small-scale graphs,and it shows that QPIL performs superior to prevalent quantum and classical baselines in terms of approximation ratio(AR),time cost,anti-forgetting,and solv-ing *** particular,QPIL’s AR surpasses 20%of mainstream quantum baselines,and the time cost is less than 1/5 of *** idea of QPIL is expected to inspire efficient and high-quality solutions in large-scale MaxCut and other combinatorial optimization problems.

Enhancing m^(6)A modification in the motor cortex facilitates corticospinal tract remodeling after spinal cord injury

Spinal cord injury typically causes corticospinal tract disruption. Although the disrupted corticospinal tract can self-regenerate to a certain degree, the underlying mechanism of this process is still unclear. N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A) modifications are the most common form of epigenetic regulation at the RNA level and play an essential role in biological processes. However, whether m^(6)A modifications participate in corticospinal tract regeneration after spinal cord injury remains unknown. We found that expression of methyltransferase 14 protein(METTL14) in the locomotor cortex was high after spinal cord injury and accompanied by elevated m^(6)A levels. Knockdown of Mettl14 in the locomotor cortex was not favorable for corticospinal tract regeneration and neurological recovery after spinal cord injury. Through bioinformatics analysis and methylated RNA immunoprecipitation-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, we found that METTL14 regulated Trib2 expression in an m^(6)A-regulated manner, thereby activating the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway and promoting corticospinal tract regeneration. Finally, we administered syringin, a stabilizer of METTL14, using molecular docking. Results confirmed that syringin can promote corticospinal tract regeneration and facilitate neurological recovery by stabilizing METTL14. Findings from this study reveal that m^(6)A modification is involved in the regulation of corticospinal tract regeneration after spinal cord injury.

Mixed matrix membranes(MMMs)have demonstrated significant promise in energy-intensive gas separations by amalgamating the unique properties of fillers with the facile processability of ***,achieving a simultaneous enhancement of permeability and selectivity remains a formidable challenge,due to the difficulty of achieving an optimal match between polymers and *** this study,we incorporate a porous carbon-based zinc oxide composite(C@ZnO)into high-permeability polymers of intrinsic microporosity(PIMs)to fabricate *** dipole–dipole interaction between C@ZnO and PIMs ensures their exceptional compatibility,mitigating the formation of non-selective voids in the resulting ***,C@ZnO with abundant interconnected pores can provide additional low-resistance pathways for gas transport in *** a result,the CO_(2) permeability of the optimized C@ZnO/PIM-1 MMMs is elevated to 13,215 barrer,while the CO_(2)/N_(2) and CO_(2)/CH_(4) selectivity reached 21.5 and 14.4,respectively,substantially surpassing the 2008 Robeson upper ***,molecular simulation results further corroborate that the augmented membrane gas selectivity is attributed to the superior CO_(2) affinity of C@*** summary,we believe that this work not only expands the application of MMMs for gas separation but also heralds a paradigm shift in the application of porous carbon materials.

Safety and effectiveness of balloon catheter-assiste d ultrasound-guide d percutaneous microwave ablation in difficult-site liver cancer

Background:Balloon catheter isolation is a promising auxiliary method for thermal ablation treatment of liver cancer. We aimed to explore the safety and effectiveness of balloon catheter isolation-assisted ultrasound-guided percutaneous microwave ablation (MWA) in treating liver cancer in difficult anatomical ***:Data of 132 patients with 145 difficult-site liver cancer treated with ultrasound-guided percutaneous MWA were retrospectively analyzed. Participants were classified into the isolation (n=40)and non-isolation (n=92) groups based on whether the patients were treated using a balloon catheter prior to ablation. The major complication rates, local tumor residuals (LTR), and tumor follow-up for local tumor progression (LTP) at 6 and 12 months post-ablation were compared between the two ***:The rates of major postoperative complications did not significantly differ between the isolation and non-isolation groups (2.5%vs. 4.3%, P=0.609). The postoperative LTR rates were significantly different between the isolation and non-isolation groups (4.8%vs. 17.5%, P=0.032). Balloon catheter isolation [odds ratio (OR)=0.225, 95%confidence interval (CI):0.085–0.595, P=0.009] and tumor diameter(OR=2.808, 95%CI:1.186–6.647, P=0.019) were identified as independent factors influencing LTR *** cumulative LTP rates at 6 and 12 months after ablation showed no significant differences between the isolation and non-isolation groups (2.6%vs. 7.9%, P=0.661; 4.9%vs. 9.8%, P=0.676, respectively).Cox proportional hazards regression analysis showed that tumor diameter was an independent risk factor for cumulative LTP rate (OR=3.445, 95%CI:1.406–8.437, P=0.017).Conclusions:Balloon catheter isolation-assisted MWA was safe and effective in the treatment of difficultsite liver cancer. Additionally, tumor diameter significantly influenced LTR and LTP rates after ablation.

Nano high-entropy oxide cathode with enhanced stability for direct borohydride fuel cells

High-entropy materials have become high-activity electrocatalysis owing to their high-entropy effect and multiple active ***,we synthesize a series of carbon-supported nano high-entropy oxides(HEOs/C),specifically (PtFeCoNiCu)O/C,using a carbothermal shock (CTS) method for application as a cathode catalyst in direct borohydride fuel cells (DBFCs).The microstructure of the prepared catalysts was characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy,X-ray absorption fine structure,and transmission electron *** prepared (PtFeCoNiCu)O/C,with particle sizes ranging from 2 to 4 nm,demonstrates 3.94 transferred electrons towards the oxygen reduction reaction in an alkaline environment,resulting in a minimal H_(2)O_(2)yield of 2.6%.Additionally,it exhibits a Tafel slope of 61 mV dec-1,surpassing that of commercial Pt/C (82 mV dec-1).Furthermore,after 40,000 cycles of cyclic voltammetry(CV) testing,the half-wave potential of (PtFeCoNiCu)O/C shows a positive shift of 3 mV,with no notable decline in the limiting current *** (PtFeCoNiCu)O/C is used as a cathode catalyst in DBFCs,the DBFC achieves a maximum power density of 441 mW cm^(-2)at 60°C and sustains a cell voltage of approximately 0.73 V after 52 h at 30°*** findings confirm that HEO/C is a promising cathode catalyst for DBFCs.

Dip2a regulates stress susceptibility in the basolateral amygdala

Dysregulation of neurotransmitter metabolism in the central nervous system contributes to mood disorders such as depression, anxiety, and post–traumatic stress disorder. Monoamines and amino acids are important types of neurotransmitters. Our previous results have shown that disco-interacting protein 2 homolog A(Dip2a) knockout mice exhibit brain development disorders and abnormal amino acid metabolism in serum. This suggests that DIP2A is involved in the metabolism of amino acid–associated neurotransmitters. Therefore, we performed targeted neurotransmitter metabolomics analysis and found that Dip2a deficiency caused abnormal metabolism of tryptophan and thyroxine in the basolateral amygdala and medial prefrontal cortex. In addition, acute restraint stress induced a decrease in 5-hydroxytryptamine in the basolateral amygdala. Additionally, Dip2a was abundantly expressed in excitatory neurons of the basolateral amygdala, and deletion of Dip2a in these neurons resulted in hopelessness-like behavior in the tail suspension test. Altogether, these findings demonstrate that DIP2A in the basolateral amygdala may be involved in the regulation of stress susceptibility. This provides critical evidence implicating a role of DIP2A in affective disorders.
