The solid electrolyte interphase（SEI） is widely recognized as a critical factor leading to the capacity fading of lithium-ion batteries（liBs）. Although SEI stress-related mechanical failure caused by the expansion or contraction of active materials upon cycles is well documented, previously reported SEI components and overpotential varying phenomena due to SEI stress and their effects on the electrochemical performance are poorly understood. Here, we establish a quantitative correlation between capacity fading and the SEI stress by considering its effects on side reactions, especially SEI component evolution, in a multiscale mechanical-electrochemical coupling model. Furthermore, the capacity fading behaviors of two typical cells（li[NiMnCo]O2as the cathode, and graphite and silicon as the anode, respectively） were adopted as numerical examples to demonstrate its potential utility and applications. Stress within the SEI was indeed found to play a predominant role in the capacity fading of the graphite and silicon anodes, resulting in 27% and 69% of the total capacity loss after 200 and 100 cycles at 1 C, respectively. This study provides valuable mechanical insights into the variations of SEI properties related to the capacity degradation and SEI optimization and design for liBs.

Salt caverns are extensively utilized for storing various substances such as fossil energy, hydrogen,compressed air, nuclear waste, and industrial solid waste. In China, when the salt cavern is leached through single-well water solution mining with oil as a cushion, engineering challenges arise with the leaching tubing, leading to issues like damage and instability. These problems significantly hinder the progress of cavern construction and the control of cavern shape. The primary cause of this is the flowinduced vibration instability of leaching tubing within a confined space, which results in severe bending or damage to the tubing. This study presents a model experimental investigation on the dynamic characteristics of leaching tubing using a self-developed liquid-solid coupling physical model experiment apparatus. The experiment utilizes a silicone-rubber pipe(SRP) and a polycarbonate pipe(PCP) to examine the effects of various factors on the dynamic stability of cantilevered pipes conveying fluid. These factors include external space constraint, flexural rigidity, medium outside the pipe, overhanging length, and end conditions. The experiments reveal four dynamic response phenomena: water hammer, static buckling, chaotic motion, and flutter instability. The study further demonstrates that the length of the external space constraint has a direct impact on the flutter critical flow velocity of the cantilevered pipe conveying fluid. Additionally, the flutter critical flow velocity is influenced by the end conditions and different external media.

Enantiomeric molecules generally play distinct functions in chemistry,biology,and *** physical and chemical properties of chiral analytes lay difficulty in discrimination and quantification of the *** report herein an efficient approach of increasing the chiral sensing ability ofβ-cyclodextrin(β-CD),a widely used host molecule,in the hostguest chemistry by magnetic anisotropy.A rigid and chiral lanthanide binding tag was attached to theβ-CD to amplify the changes of nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)signals in the host-guest recognition *** installation of the paramagnetic lanthanide ion inβ-CD greatly enhances the enantiomeric discrimination up to 30-fold in comparison with the diamagneticβ-CD *** addition,the magnitude of the paramagnetic effects is tunable according to the diverse range of paramagnetic strength of the lanthanide *** reported method significantly increases the chiral sensing ability ofβ-CD,which can be applied to other host *** transferred paramagnetic effects,pseudocontact shifts(PCSs)and paramagnetic relaxation enhancements(PREs),from the host to the guest molecules,are valuable structural restraints to determine the absolute stereochemistry of the chiral *** strategy does not need modification of the analytes and is complementary to the reported analytical methods that rely on the functionalization of the chiral analytes.
