Effects of photo-oxidation and transition metals on the formation of reactive oxygen species from aromatic compounds using spectroscopic method

Particulate matter(PM)can cause adverse health effects by overproducing reactive oxygen species(ROS).Although the ability of PM to induce ROS generation depends on its composi-tion and environmental *** study explores how photo-oxidation affects ROS gen-eration from aromatic compounds(ACs,including catechol(CAT),phthalic acid(PA),and 4,4-oxydibenzoic acid(4,4-OBA))and their mixtures with transition metals(TMs,includ-ing Fe(II),Mn(II),and Cu(II))using Fourier-transform infrared(FTIR)and Ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy(UV-Vis).Results showed that photo-oxidation facilitated ROS generation from ***-Fe(II)/Cu(II)showed synergistic effects,but 4,4-OBA-Fe(II)/Cu(II)showed antag-onistic ***-Mn(II)and PA-Fe(II)/Cu(II)exhibited synergistic effects first and then showed antagonistic *** different interactions were due to complexation between ACs and *** photo-oxidized ACs-TMs significantly enhanced ROS generation com-pared with *** study suggested the photo-oxidation mechanism involved that the transfer ofπ-electrons from the ground to an excited state in benzene rings and func-tional groups,leading to the breakage and formation of chemical bonds or easierπ-electron transfer from ACs to *** former could generate ROS directly or produce polymers that promoted ROS generation,while the latter promoted ROS generation by transferringπ-electrons to dissolved oxygen *** study revealed that both interactions among components and photo-oxidation significantly influenced ROS *** studies should integrate broader atmospheric factors and PM components to fully assess oxidative potential and health impacts.

龙头水库带一串日调节或无调节电站组成的水电梯级,在汛初和汛期两场洪水之间的特定时段开展小流量泄流补偿调度,既可以减少龙头水库无益弃水,又能增加下游电站发电量;分析了影响实时补偿调度增益分配的主要因素;提出了补偿调度增益的计算原理和龙头水库泄流补偿调度风险率与期望损失计算方法;提出了具有明确物理意义的补偿调度增益多因素综合分配模型。通过沙溪流域的实例分析,表明提出的方法能够取得合理的结果。

Human brain development is a complex process,and animal models often have significant *** address this,researchers have developed pluripotent stem cell-derived three-dimensional structures,known as brain-like organoids,to more accurately model early human brain development and *** enable more consistent and intuitive reproduction of early brain development,in this study,we incorporated forebrain organoid culture technology into the traditional unguided method of brain organoid *** involved embedding organoids in matrigel for only 7 days during the rapid expansion phase of the neural epithelium and then removing them from the matrigel for further cultivation,resulting in a new type of human brain organoid *** cerebral organoid system replicated the temporospatial characteristics of early human brain development,including neuroepithelium derivation,neural progenitor cell production and maintenance,neuron differentiation and migration,and cortical layer patterning and formation,providing more consistent and reproducible organoids for developmental modeling and toxicology *** a proof of concept,we applied the heavy metal cadmium to this newly improved organoid system to test whether it could be used to evaluate the neurotoxicity of environmental *** organoids exposed to cadmium for 7 or 14 days manifested severe damage and abnormalities in their neurodevelopmental patterns,including bursts of cortical cell death and premature *** exposure caused progressive depletion of neural progenitor cells and loss of organoid integrity,accompanied by compensatory cell proliferation at ectopic *** convenience,flexibility,and controllability of this newly developed organoid platform make it a powerful and affordable alternative to animal models for use in neurodevelopmental,neurological,and neurotoxicological studies.

Ulcerative colitis [UC] is established by a chronic， diffuse inflammation of colonic mucosa with poorly defined etiology， and without sufficient treatment or cure available for remission. In this context， there is a growing recognition and consensus that synbiotic supplement may be promising and impactful strategies towards ameliorating UC and related inflammatory disorders， garnering significant attention from researchers as an alternative therapy. Herein， we innovatively prepared a novel synbiotic combination including Lactobacillus acidophilus， Bifidobacterium infants and prebiotics konjac glucomannan oligosaccharides [KGMO] to explore the potential therapeutic effects in dextran sodium sulfate [DSS] induced UC mouse model. The results demonstrated that the synbiotic effectively improved colitis symptoms in mice by mitigating weight loss， disease activity index [DAI]， colonic pathological damage， and colonic oxidative stress. it also observed that the synbiotic preserve intestinal barrier function integrity， reduces metabolic endotoxemia as well as inhibits the TLR4/NF-κB， NLRP3/Caspase-1， and Nrf2/Keap1 signaling pathway. Furthermore， the synbiotic modulated microbial homeostasis directly by enhancing beneficial microbes and reducing potentially harmful bacteria. In addition， microbiome phenotype prediction and bacterial functional potential prediction analysis demonstrated that the synbiotic supplementation regulated gut microbiota function involving inflammatory injury， metabolism， immune response， and pathopoiesia. Especially， the synbiotic not only restored the balance of Th1/Th2 cells as well as Th17/Treg cells along with specific inflammatory factors expression， but also maintained bile acid homeostasis by regulating FXR/FGF15 signaling pathway. Especially important is that the synbiotic was as effective as mesalazine against UC. To mitigate the challenges in managing the damage level of reinforced concrete(RC)pier columns subjected to cyclic reverse loading,this study conducted a series of cyclic reverse tests on RC pier *** analyzing the outcomes of destructive testing on various specimens and fine-tuning the results with the aid of the IMK(Ibarra Medina Krawinkler)recovery model,the energy dissipation capacity coefficient of the pier columns were able to be ***,utilizing the calibrated damage model parameters,the damage index for each specimen were *** on the obtained damage levels,three distinct pre-damage conditions were designed for the pier columns:minor damage,moderate damage,and severe *** study then predicted the variations in hysteresis curves and damage indices under cyclic loading *** experimental findings reveal that the displacement at the top of the pier columns can serve as a reliable indicator for controlling the damage level of pier columns ***,the calibrated damage index model exhibits proficiency in accurately predicting the damage level of RC pier columns under cyclic loading.

Study on the Fluid-Solid Coupling Seepage of the Deep Tight Reservoir Based on 3D Digital Core Modeling

Deep tight reservoirs exhibit complex stress and seepage fields due to varying pore structures,thus the seepage characteristics are significant for enhancing oil *** study conducted triaxial compression and permeability tests to investigate the mechanical and seepage properties of tight sandstone.A digital core of tight sandstone was built using Computed Tomography(CT)scanning,which was divided into matrix and pore phases by a pore equivalent diameter threshold.A fluid-solid coupling model was established to investigate the seepage characteristics at *** results showed that increasing the confining pressure decreased porosity,permeability,and flow velocity,with the pore phase becoming the dominant seepage *** and large pores closed first under increasing pressure,resulted in a steep drop in ***,permeability slightly decreased under high confining pressure,which followed a first-order exponential *** velocity increased with seepage *** the damage mainly occurred in stress-concentration regions under low seepage *** behavior followed linear Darcy flow,the damage emerged at seepage entrances under high pressure,which decreased rock elastic modulus and significantly increased permeability.

This study aimed to investigate the moment redistribution in continuous glass fiber reinforced polymer(GFRP)-concrete composite slabs caused by concrete cracking and steel bar yielding in the negative bending moment *** experimental bending moment redistribution test was conducted on continuous GFRP-concrete composite slabs,and a calculation method based on the conjugate beam method was *** composite slabs were formed by combining GFRP profiles with a concrete layer and supported on steel beams to create two-span continuous composite slab *** methods,epoxy resin bonding,and stud connection,were used to connect the composite slabs with the steel *** experimental findings showed that the specimen connected with epoxy resin exhibited two moments redistribution phenomena during the loading process:concrete cracking and steel bar yielding at the internal *** contrast,the composite slab connected with steel beams by studs exhibited only one-moment redistribution phenomenon throughout the loading *** the concrete at the internal support cracked,the bending moment decreased in the internal support section and increased in the midspan *** the steel bars yielded,the bending moment further decreased in the internal support section and increased in the mid-span *** GFRP profiles do not experience cracking,there was no significant decrease in the bending moment of the mid-span *** test specimens experienced compressive failure of concrete at the mid-span *** results showed good agreement between the calculated and experimental values of bending moments in the mid-span section and internal support *** proposed model can effectively predict the moment redistribution behavior of continuous GFRP-concrete composite slabs.
