AIM:To investigate the growth-inhibiting and apoptosis-inducing effects of the gene MOB2 on human hepatic carcinoma cell line ***:The full-length cDNA of the MOB2 gene was amplified from human umbilical vein endothelial *** correct full-length MOB2 cDNA was subcloned into the eukaryotic expression vector *** lipofection of the MOB2 gene into cancer cells,the levels of MOB2 protein in the cancer cells were detected by *** transfect the recombined plasmid vector pEGFP-CI-MOB2 into SMMC-7721 cells,the cells were cultured in Dulbecco's Modified Eagle'sMedium with 10% fetal calf serum and glutamine,and then mixed with liposomes,Lipofectamine 2000 and the plasmid vector ***:We observed the growth and proliferation of SMMC-7721 cells containing pEGFP-CI-MOB2 and analyzed their apoptosis and growth cycle phases by flow *** successfully transfected the recombined plasmid vector pEGFP-CI-MOB2 into SMMC-7721 cells and screened for a single clone cell containing *** transfection,MOB2 enhanced growth suppression,induced apoptosis,increased the ratio of G0/G1,significantly inhibited the advance of cell cycle phase,and arrested cells in G0/G1 ***:MOB2 overexpression induces apoptosis and inhibits the growth of human hepatic cancer cells,which may be useful in gene therapy for hepatic carcinoma.

AIM:To investigate the effects of laparoscopic hepatectomy for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) .METHODS:From 2006 to January 2011,laparoscopic hepatectomies were performed on 30 cases of HCC at Northern Jiangsu People's Hospital. During this sametime period,30 patients elected to undergo conventional open hepatectomy over laparoscopic hepatectomy at the time of informed consent. The degree of invasiveness and outcomes of laparoscopic hepatectomy compared to open hepatectomy for HCC were ***:Both groups presented with similar bloodloss amounts,operating times and complications. Patients in the laparoscopic hepatectomy group started walking and eating significantly earlier than those inthe open hepatectomy group,and these more rapid recoveries allowed for shorter hospitalizations. There were no significant differences between procedures insurvival ***:Laparoscopic hepatectomy is beneficial for patient quality of life if the indications are appropriately based on preoperative liver function and the location and size of the HCC.

Isolation,identification and characterization of an algicidal bacterium from Lake Taihu and preliminary studies on its algicidal compounds

In an effort to identify a bio-agent capable of controlling cyanobacterial blooms, we isolated a bacterial strain, A27, which exhibited strong algicidal activity against the dominant bloom-forming species of Microcystis aeruginosa in Lake Taihu. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, this strain belongs to the genus Exiguobacterium. This is the first report of an algicidal bacterial strain belonging to the genus Exiguobacterium. Strain A27 exhibited algicidal activity against a broad range of cyanobacteria, but elicited little or no algicidal activity against the two green algal strains tested. The algicidal activity of strain A27 was shown to be dependent on the density of the bacteria and to have a threshold density of 1.5×106 CFU/mL. Our data also showed that the algicidal activity of strain A27 depended on different growth stages ofMicrocystis aeruginosa （exponential ≈ lag phase 〉 early stationary） rather than that of the bacterium itself. Our results also suggested the algicidal activity of strain A27 occurred via the production of extracellular algicidal compounds. Investigation of the algicidal compounds revealed that there were at least two different algicidal compounds produced by strain A27. These results indicated that strain A27 has great potential for use in the control of outbreaks of cyanobacterial blooms in Lake Taihu.

As an important form of reactors for gas/liquid/solid catalytic reaction,trickle bed reactors (TBRs) are widely applied in petroleum industry,biochemical,fine chemical and pharmaceutical industries because of their flexibility,simplicity of operation and high ***,TBRs also show inefficient production and hot pots caused by non-uniform fluid distribution and incomplete wetting of the catalyst,which limit their further application in chemical ***,process intensification in TBRs is necessary as the decrease in quality of processed crude oil,caused by increased exploitation depths,and more restrictive environmental regulations and emission standards for industry,caused by increased environment protection *** recent years,lots of strategies for process intensification in TBRs have been proposed to improve reaction performance to meet the current and future demands of chemical industry from the environmental and economic *** article summarizes the recent progress in techniques for intensifying gas/liquid/solid reaction in TBRs and application of intensified TBRs in petroleum industry.

Laser speckle contrast imaging(LSCI)is a powerful tool to monitor blood flow distribution and has been widely used in studies of microcirculation,both for animal and clinical ***,LSCI usually works on reflectivedetected ***,it could provide promising temporal and spatial resolution for in vivo applications only with the assistance of various tissue windows,otherwise,the overlarge superficial static speckle would extremely limit its contrast and ***,we systematically investigated the capability of transmissive-detected LSCI(TR-LSCI)for blood flow monitoring in thick *** Monte Carlo simulation,we theoretically compared the performance of transmissive and reflective *** was found that the reflective-detected mode was better when the target layer was at the very surface,but the imaging quality would rapidly decrease with imaging depth,while the transmissivedetected mode could obtain a much stronger signal-to-background ratio(SBR)for thick *** further proved by tissue phantom,animal,and human experiments that in a certain thickness of tissue,TR-LSCI showed remarkably better performance for thick-tissue imaging,and the imaging quality would be further improved if the use of longer wavelengths of near-infrared ***,both theoretical and experimental results demonstrate that TR-LSCI is capable of obtaining thick-tissue blood flow information and holds great potential in the field of microcirculation research.

The oxide dispersion strengthened Mo alloys(ODS-Mo)prepared by traditional ball milling and subsequent sintering technique generally possess comparatively coarse Mo grains and large oxide particles at Mo grain boundaries(GBs),which obviously suppress the corresponding strengthening effect of oxide *** this work,the Y_(2)O_(3) and TiC particles were simultaneously doped into Mo alloys using ball-milling and subsequent low temperature *** by TiC addition,the Mo-Y_(2)O_(3) grains are sharply refined from 3.12 to 1.36μ*** particular,Y_(2)O_(3) and TiC can form smaller Y-Ti-O-C quaternary phase particles(~230 nm)at Mo GBs compared to single Y_(2)O_(3) particles(~420 nm),so as to these new formed Y-Ti-O-C particles can more effectively pin and hinder GBs *** addition to Y-Ti-O-C particles at GBs,Y_(2)O_(3),TiOx,and TiCx nanoparticles(tantly,the Mo-Y_(2)O_(3)-TiC alloys exhibit higher hardness(HV0.2(425±25))compared to Mo-Y_(2)O_(3) alloys(HV0.2(370±25)).This work could provide a relevant strategy for the preparation of ultrafine Mo alloys by facile ball-milling.

In the present work a new thermal conductivity model is developed for two-phase composite materials,which are consisted of a continuous matrix and dispersed 3 D-particles separated from each other by the matrix as a function of grain size and volume ratio of the dispersed particles at different *** model is applied to reproduce experimental thermal conductivity values of cemented carbide systems WC-Co and *** agreement was found between measured thermal conductivity data originating from both this work and recent literature and the calculated ones only using semi-empirical parameters for the interfacial thermal resistance(ITR)values at WC/Co,WC/Ag and WC/WC interfaces as a function of ***,the temperature and grain size dependence of the thermal conductivity for WC is established for the first *** model works well for the case when the matrix(Ag)has a higher thermal conductivity compared to that of the WC particles and also for the case when the matrix(Co)has a lower thermal conductivity compared to that of the WC *** new model forms a physically sound basis for further development/materials design of cemented carbides and particlereinforced composite materials.

Fracture propagation mechanisms in coalbed methane(CBM) reservoirs are very complex due to the development of the internal cleat system. In this paper, the characteristics of initiation and propagation of hydraulic fractures in coal specimens at different angles between the face cleat and the maximum horizontal principal stress were investigated with hydraulic fracturing tests. The results indicate that the interactions between the hydraulic fractures and the cleat system have a major effect on fracture networks. "Step-like’’ fractures were formed in most experiments due to the existence of discontinuous butt cleats. The hydraulic fractures were more likely to divert or propagate along the butt cleat with an increase in the angles and a decrease in the horizontal principal stress difference. An increase in the injection rate and a decrease in the fracturing fluid viscosity were more conducive to fracture networks. In addition, the influence on fracture propagation of the residual coal fines in the wellbore was also studied. The existence of coal fines was an obstacle in fracturing, and no effective connection can be formed between fractures. The experimental investigation revealed the fracture propagation mechanisms and can provide guidance for hydraulic fracturing design of CBM reservoirs.
