Patients infected with coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)have high serum levels of proinflammatory cytokines.The"cytokine storm"has become one of the major causes of death for critically ill patients infected by COVID-19.Glucocorticoids,plasma from convalescent patients,blood purification,and tocilizumab are currently recommended for use when the body’s inflammatory response is overactivated.However,there are limitations in terms of medicinal effects,equipment reserves,and treatment expense.These challenges prompted us to assess classical agents with good safety and mature production technology.A recent study showed that nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain(NOD)-,leucine-rich repeat(LRR)-,and pyrin domain-containing protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasomes drive COVID-19 pathology.We speculate that suppression of NLRP3 inflammasome-derived cytokine production may be beneficial in COVID-19-infected patients.Dopamine receptors are present in almost all immune cells and can modulate their activation,proliferation,and cytokine production of immune cells.Previous studies have shown that dopamine receptor agonists can control systemic inflammation through inhibition of the NLRP3 inflammasome.This suggests that dopamine receptor agonists may be a new strategy for the treatment of overactive immune responses in COVID-19 patients.This is worthy of further investigation in clinical practice.

Liver transplantation(LT)has become the most efficient treatment for pediatric and adult end-stage liver disease and the survival time after transplantation is becoming longer due to the development of surgical techniques and perioperative management.However,long-term side-effects of immunosuppressants,like infection,metabolic disorders and malignant tumor are gaining more attention.Immune tolerance is the status in which LT recipients no longer need to take any immunosuppressants,but the liver function and intrahepatic histology maintain normal.The approaches to achieve immune tolerance after transplantation include spontaneous,operational and induced tolerance.The first two means require no specific intervention but withdrawing immunosuppressant gradually during follow-up.No clinical factors or biomarkers so far could accurately predict who are suitable for immunosuppressant withdraw after transplantation.With the understanding to the underlying mechanisms of immune tolerance,many strategies have been developed to induce tolerance in LT recipients.Cellular strategy is one of the most promising methods for immune tolerance induction,including chimerism induced by hematopoietic stem cells and adoptive transfer of regulatory immune cells.The safety and efficacy of various cell products have been evaluated by prospective preclinical and clinical trials,while obstacles still exist before translating into clinical practice.Here,we will summarize the latest perspectives and concerns on the clinical application of cellular strategies in LT recipients.

PEGylation is the gold standard for constructing protein resistance surfaces.Herein,grafting mPEG-SH and SH-PEG-SH with varied molecular weights(Mw=5K,10K,and 20K)on a gold chip,and the subsequent lysozyme adsorptions of the PEG layers are evaluated using quartzcrystal microbalance based on dissipation(QCM-D).The lysozyme resistance depends on the features of grafting density and chain conformation,i.e.,linear and looped conformation.However,long-chain PEG(Mw≥10K)is insufficient to form a dense layer to resist protein due to large steric hindrances.Short-chain PEG(Mw=1K)with linear and looped structures is used to refill onto the long-chain PEG layer to increase the grafting density of PEGs and improve protein resistance.The refilling process and the subsequent protein adsorption depend on conformation rather than the density of the long-chain PEG substrate.Notably,the long-chain PEG looped substrates significantly improve protein resistance,attributing to the high viscoelasticity of the looped substrate and an increase in grafting density after refilling.Thus,refilling short-chain PEG improves protein resistance and the substrate conformation-dependence gives insight into the impact of topology,providing new ideas for how to increase chain density and select suitable topology to resist protein adsorption and demonstrating a potential application in biomedical fields.

Cardiac resident macrophages (CRMs) are the main population of cardiac immune cells. The role of these cells in regeneration, functional remodeling, and repair after cardiac injury is always the focus of research. However, in recent years, their dynamic changes and contributions in physiological states have a significant attention. CRMs have specific phenotypes and functions in different cardiac chambers or locations of the heart and at different stages. They further show specific differentiation and development processes. The present review will summarize the new progress about the spatiotemporal distribution, potential developmental regulation, and their roles in cardiac development and aging as well as the translational potential of CRMs on cardiac diseases. Of course, the research tools for CRMs, their respective advantages and disadvantages, and key issues on CRMs will further be discussed.

Heavy regional precipitation(HRP)over Beijing,Tianjin,and Hebei Province(the jing–jin–Ji region or JJJ)in early October(1–10 October)is a high-impact climate event because of travel and outdoor activities by exceptionally large population during the Chinese National Day Holidays(CNDH).What causes the year-to-year variation of the HRP during early October is investigated through an observational analysis.It is found that the HRP arises from moisture transport by southerly anomalies to the west of an anomalous low-level anticyclone over the subtropical northwestern Pacific(SNWP).Sensitivity numerical experiments reveal that the low-level anticyclonic anomaly is caused by a dipole heating pattern over tropical western and central Pacific associated with a La Niña-like SST anomaly(SSTA)pattern in the Pacific and by a negative heating anomaly over North Europe.The latter connects the SNWP anticyclone through a Rossby wave train.Anomalous ascent associated with a positive heating anomaly over the tropical western Pacific may strengthen the local Hadley Cell,contributing to maintenance of the low-level anomalous anticyclone over SNWP and extending westwards of the western Pacific subtropical high(WPSH).Therefore,both the tropical Pacific and midlatitude heating signals over North Europe may be potential predictors for HRP forecast in the JJJ region in early October.

Suppose that G is a planar cubic graph withχi(G)>5.We show that ifχi(H)<χi(G)for each planar cubic graph H of order less thanG,thenG is either a 3-connected simple planar cubic graph,or a planar graph obtained from a simple cubic 3-connected planar graph by adding some earrings.This shows that a minimum non-5-injectively colorable simple planar cubic graph must be 3-connected.

Precisely Control Relationship between Sulfur Vacancy and H Absorption for Boosting Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Ef fective and robust catalyst is the core of water splitting to produce hydrogen.Here, we report an anionic etching method to tailor the sulfur vacancy(VS) of NiS_(2) to further enhance the electrocatalytic performance for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER). With the VS concentration change from 2.4% to 8.5%, the H* adsorption strength on S sites changed and NiS_(2)-VS 5.9% shows the most optimized H* adsorption for HER with an ultralow onset potential(68 m V) and has long-term stability for 100 h in 1 M KOH media. In situ attenuated-total-reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(ATR-FTIRS) measurements are usually used to monitor the adsorption of intermediates. The S-H* peak of the Ni S_(2)-VS 5.9% appears at a very low voltage, which is favorable for the HER in alkaline media. Density functional theory calculations also demonstrate the Ni S_(2)-VS 5.9% has the optimal |ΔG^(H*)| of 0.17 e V. This work offers a simple and promising pathway to enhance catalytic activity via precise vacancies strategy.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a heterogeneous reproductive disease that can cause infertility. The Hippo signaling pathway, a network highly conserved throughout evolution, maintains the balance between follicle proliferation and dormancy. Dynamic changes in primordial follicles cannot occur without the participation of biological signals and mechanical force;however, little is known about the mechanism by which biomechanical signaling triggers PCOS, especially in the context of primordial follicle development. To investigate the contribution of mechanical stress and the Hippo signaling pathway to the onset of PCOS, we searched the literature via the PubMed database, and inclusion and exclusion criteria were established to ensure the rigor of this research. We eventually included 54 publications in which Hippo signaling and mechanical force were suggested to play a vital role in the development of primordial follicles as well as elucidate the pathogenesis of PCOS. The Hippo pathway modulating follicle growth can be perturbed via extracellular mechanical stress caused by the stiff ovarian cortical environment in PCOS. Clinical intervention targeting the Hippo pathway can alter the activity of core Hippo members, such as the Yes-associated protein/transcriptional co-activator PDZ-binding motif complex. In some patients with PCOS, follicle overactivation can be attributed to the dysfunction of Hippo signal transduction. PCOS, a condition with various patterns, cannot be accurately explained by a single, specific mechanism. The present review identifies potential targets and therapeutic strategies for PCOS.

6G Mobile Network Requirements and Technical Feasibility Study

The sixth generation(6G)mobile network is envisaged to be commercially deployed around 2030,which will profoundly change people's lifestyles and accelerate the digitalization of society.To ensure that the requirements of 6G can be achieved,it is essential to establish a set of key performance indicators(KPIs).This paper comprehensively assesses the KPIs not only from the service requirements but also from the technical feasibility points of view.Specifically,theoretical derivations of KPIs have been clarified,and numerical evaluations have been conducted with reasonable technical assumptions.Evaluation results show that some KPIs defined from the service requirements can be improved through advanced technologies while some are still challenging for practical implementations,such as Tbps-level peak data rate and 0.1 ms user plane latency.In addition,it is also necessary to comply with multiple KPIs for some cases.Furthermore,based on the technical analysis,the potential enabling technologies are outlined and foreseeable implementation challenges as well as possible solutions are presented,which promotes a more reasonable design for 6G mobile network.

In this paper we classify the positive solutions of the divergent equation with Neumann boundary on the upper half space{-div(t^(α)∇u)=t^(β)f(u),(y,t)∈R^(n+1)_(+),lim t→0^(+)t^(α)■u/■t=0 by the method of moving spheres and Kelvin transformations,where n≥1,α>0,β>−1,n−1/n+1β≤α<β+2,and f:(0,∞)→(0,∞)is non-negative continuous function satisfying some conditions.This equation arises from a weighed Sobolev inequality involving divergent operator div(t^(α)∇u)on the upper half space.
