Heavy Precipitation over the jing–jin–Ji Region in Early October: What Controls Its Interannual Variability?

Heavy regional precipitation(HRP)over Beijing,Tianjin,and Hebei Province(the jing–jin–Ji region or JJJ)in early October(1–10 October)is a high-impact climate event because of travel and outdoor activities by exceptionally large population during the Chinese National Day Holidays(CNDH).What causes the year-to-year variation of the HRP during early October is investigated through an observational *** is found that the HRP arises from moisture transport by southerly anomalies to the west of an anomalous low-level anticyclone over the subtropical northwestern Pacific(SNWP).Sensitivity numerical experiments reveal that the low-level anticyclonic anomaly is caused by a dipole heating pattern over tropical western and central Pacific associated with a La Niña-like SST anomaly(SSTA)pattern in the Pacific and by a negative heating anomaly over North *** latter connects the SNWP anticyclone through a Rossby wave *** ascent associated with a positive heating anomaly over the tropical western Pacific may strengthen the local Hadley Cell,contributing to maintenance of the low-level anomalous anticyclone over SNWP and extending westwards of the western Pacific subtropical high(WPSH).Therefore,both the tropical Pacific and midlatitude heating signals over North Europe may be potential predictors for HRP forecast in the JJJ region in early October.

Synergistically constructed lamination-like network of redox-active polyimide and MXene via π-π interactions for aqueous NH_(4)^(+) storage

As a nonmetallic charge carrier,ammonium ion(NH_(4)^(+))has garnered significant attention in the construction of aqueous batteries due to its advantages of low molar mass,small hydration size and rapid diffusion in aqueous *** are a kind of potential electro-active materials for aqueous NH_(4)^(+)***,traditional polymer electrodes are typically created by covering the bulky collectors with excessive additives,which could lead to low volume capacity and unsatisfactory ***,a nanoparticle-like polyimide(PI)was synthesized and then combined with MXene nanosheets to synergistically construct an additive-free and self-standing PI@MXene composite ***,the redox-active PI nanoparticles are enclosed between conductive MXene flakes to create a 3D lamination-like network that promotes electron transmission,while theπ-πinteractions existing between PI and MXene contribute to the enhanced structural integrity and stability within the composite *** such,it delivers superior aqueous NH_(4)^(+)storage behaviors in terms of a notable specific capacity of 110.7 mA·h·cm^(–3) and a long lifespan with only 0.0064%drop each ***,in-situ Raman and UV–Vis examinations provide evidence of reversible and stable redox mechanism of the PI@MXene composite electrode during NH_(4)^(+)uptake/removal,highlighting its significance in the area of electrochemical energy storage.

Cardiac resident macrophages (CRMs) are the main population of cardiac immune cells. The role of these cells in regeneration, functional remodeling, and repair after cardiac injury is always the focus of research. However, in recent years, their dynamic changes and contributions in physiological states have a significant attention. CRMs have specific phenotypes and functions in different cardiac chambers or locations of the heart and at different stages. They further show specific differentiation and development processes. The present review will summarize the new progress about the spatiotemporal distribution, potential developmental regulation, and their roles in cardiac development and aging as well as the translational potential of CRMs on cardiac diseases. Of course, the research tools for CRMs, their respective advantages and disadvantages, and key issues on CRMs will further be discussed.

Characteristics and chemical reactivity of biogenic volatile organic compounds from dominant forest species in the jing-jin-Ji area,China

Background:Biogenic volatile organic compounds(BVOCs)play an essential role in tropospheric atmospheric chemical *** are few studies conducted on BVOCs emission of dominant forest species in the jing-jin-Ji area of *** on the field survey,forest resources data and the measured standard emission factors,the Guenther model developed in 1993(G93)was applied in this paper to estimate the emission of BVOCs from several dominant forest species(Platycladus orientalis,Quercus variabilis,Betula platyphylla,Populus tomentosa,Pinus tabuliformis,Robinia pseudoacacia,Ulmus pumila,Salix babylonica and Larix gmelinii)in the jing-jin-Ji area in *** the spatiotemporal emission characteristics and atmospheric chemical reactivity of these species were extensively ***:The results showed that the total annual BVOCs emission was estimated to be 70.8 Gg C·year^(−1),consisting 40.5%(28.7 Gg C·year^(−1))of isoprene,36.0%(25.5 Gg C·year^(−1))of monoterpenes and 23.4%(16.6 Gg C·year^(−1))of other *** emissions from Platycladus orientalis,Quercus variabilis,Populus tomentosa and Pinus tabulaeformis contributed 56.1%,41.2%,36.0% and 31.1%,*** total BVOCs emission from the jing-jin-Ji area accounted for 61.9% and 1.8%in summer and winter,*** to 28.8% of emission was detected from Chengde followed by Beijing with 24.9%,that mainly distributed in the Taihang Mountains and the Yanshan ***,the Robinia pseudoacacia,Populus tomentosa,Quercus variabilis,and Pinus tabulaeformis contributed mainly to BVOCs reaction ***:The BVOCs emission peaked in summer(June,July,and August)and bottomed out in winter(December,January,and February).Chengde contributed the most,followed by *** orientalis,Quercus variabilis,Populus tomentosa,Pinus tabulaeformis and Robinia pseudoacacia represent the primary contributors to BVOCs emission and atmospheric reactivity,hence the planting of these species sho

Precisely Control Relationship between Sulfur Vacancy and H Absorption for Boosting Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Ef fective and robust catalyst is the core of water splitting to produce ***, we report an anionic etching method to tailor the sulfur vacancy(VS) of NiS_(2) to further enhance the electrocatalytic performance for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER). With the VS concentration change from 2.4% to 8.5%, the H* adsorption strength on S sites changed and NiS_(2)-VS 5.9% shows the most optimized H* adsorption for HER with an ultralow onset potential(68 m V) and has long-term stability for 100 h in 1 M KOH media. In situ attenuated-total-reflection Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(ATR-FTIRS) measurements are usually used to monitor the adsorption of intermediates. The S-H* peak of the Ni S_(2)-VS 5.9% appears at a very low voltage, which is favorable for the HER in alkaline media. Density functional theory calculations also demonstrate the Ni S_(2)-VS 5.9% has the optimal |ΔG^(H*)| of 0.17 e V. This work offers a simple and promising pathway to enhance catalytic activity via precise vacancies strategy.

Influence of Human Activities on Wintertime Haze-Related Meteorological Conditions over the jing–jin–Ji Region

This work analyzes and discusses the influence of human activities on the meteorological conditions related to winter haze events in Beijing,Tianjin,and Hebei(i.e.,the jing-jin-Ji region)during 1961-2016,using the results of two numerical simulation experiments based on the Community Atmosphere Model version 5.1.1(http://***/models/cesm1.0/cam/docs/ug5_1_1/***)used in the international Climate Variability and Predictability Programme(CLIVAR)Climate of the 20th Century Detection and Attribution Project(C20C+D&A).The results show that,under the influence of human activities,the changes in dynamical and thermal meteorological conditions related to winter haze events in the jing–jin–Ji region are conducive to the formation and accumulation of haze,and prevent the diffusion of *** dynamical conditions mainly include the obvious weakening of the East Asian winter monsoon(EAWM)and the enhancement of the near-surface anomalous southerly *** thermal conditions include the obvious increase in surface temperature,and the enhancement of water vapor transport and near-surface *** relative contribution of dynamical and thermal conditions to the variation of haze days in the jing-jin-Ji region is analyzed using statistical *** results show that the contribution of human activities to the increase of haze days in the jing-jin-Ji region is greater than that of natural forcing for the study *** be specific,the dynamical meteorological factors contribute more to the haze days than the thermal meteorological *** contribution of thermal meteorological factors is basically the same in both scenarios.

The"4+4"Medical Doctor(MD)Pilot Program at PUMC:Implementation,Performance,and Prospects

Peking Union Medical College(PUMC)launched the"4+4"Medical Doctor(MD)pilot program in 2018,admitting students with non-medical backgrounds from top universities,aligning with national medical talent training policies to foster diverse and eager learners in *** the occasion of the graduation of the first class of the"4+4"MD pilot class at PUMC in 2023,we reviewed the teaching reform in the pilot program and carried out a systematic survey and interviews with students,faculties,and management staff of the pilot *** article reports on the measures taken by the pilot class at PUMC in enrollment and curriculum setting,and demonstrates the achievements of the pilot class in terms of student academic background structure,knowledge acquisition and skill learning,scientific research ability,and course *** results indicated that the pilot class had met the national demand for the"Medicine+X"talent training *** specifically,with a diverse academic backgrounds,the pilot class graduates had academic levels comparable to the eight-year medical education graduates,and their scientific research abilities were *** pilot program at PUMC will optimize the curriculum setting,strengthen the construction of faculty,learning resources,and teaching facilities,and reform the academic evaluation methods,thus deepening the reform of medical education and improving the"4+4"MD program as a novel medical education model.

Potential value of detection of minimal residual disease in colorectal cancer following radical resection

Although there has been significant advancement in the identification and management of colorectal cancer(CRC)in recent years,there is still room for improvement in the current standard treatment *** area of concern is the lack of reliable tumor markers to predict treatment efficacy and guide tailored *** to its dynamic,effective,and non-invasive benefits over tissue biopsy,the detection of minimal or molecular residual lesions(MRD)based on circulating tumor DNA(ctDNA)is beneficial to the clinical development of drugs for patients with CRC after radical treatment,as well as for continuous monitoring of tumor recurrence and malignancy molecular gene *** detection of ctDNA can currently be used to guide individual postoperative auxiliary treatment decisions(upgrade or downgrade treatment)in CRC,stratify the risk of clinical recurrence more precisely,and predict the risk of recurrence in advance of imaging examination,according to a large number of observational or prospective clinical *** increasing clarity comes the possibility of selecting a regimen of treatment based on postoperative ctDNA,which also improves the accuracy of clinical recurrence risk assessment for ***,it is anticipated that the identification of ctDNA would alter the current framework for dealing with CRC and lead to individualized,stratified precision therapy;however,additional confirmation will require subsequent high-quality,prospective,large-scale randomized controlled *** article will provide an overview of the definition and clinical significance of MRD,the primary indications and technological challenges for MRD detection,along with the advancement in clinical research about ctDNA detection following radical resection of the CRC.
