On the measurements of individual particle properties via compression and crushing

An experimental study is presented to measure the elastic,yielding,and crushing properties of individual particles under compression using substrates made of aluminum alloy,stainless steel,and *** selected,highly spherical individual Ottawa sand particles of 0.75e1.1 mm in nominal diameter were compressed between two smooth substrates,and the loadedeformation curves were analyzed by Hertz elastic contact theory to derive their reduced modulus and Young’s modulus as well as yielding and crushing strengths,which vary significantly with the type of substrate *** analysis of the yielding and plastic deformation at the particle-substrate contact shows that the yield strength or hardness of the substrate materials dominates the local contact behavior and hence affects the measured apparent yielding and crushing *** two softer substrates(aluminum alloy and stainless steel)actually lead to underestimated apparent shear yield strengths of quartz particles by 60.4%and 54.2%,respectively,which are actually the yielding of substrates,while the true particle yielding occurs in the sapphire-particle ***,the two softer substrates cause much overestimated crushing strengths of the quartz particles by 50.4%and 36.4%,*** of inappropriate substrate materials and inappropriate interpretation of the particle-substrate contact can lead to significant errors in the measured yielding and crushing *** is recommended that single particle compression testing uses substrates with yield strength greater than that of the tested particles and result interpretation also considers the elastic and yielding behaviors of the substrates.

Recently,Coordination Polymers(CPs)have been widely utilized as energy storage materials for reversible Lithium-Ion Batteries(LIBs)benefiting from their tunable building blocks and adjusted electrochemical ***,the unsatisfied electrochemical behavior of CPs with poor conductivity and sluggish ion transport kinetics is still a bottle-neck for their large-scale energy storage applications in ***,we display the rational fabrication of a conductive Sn-based coordination polymer(Sn-DHTPA)via judiciously choosing suitable building *** Sn-DHTPA is employed as anode for LIBs,exhibiting superior reversible storage capacity of 1142.6 m A h g^(-1) at 0.1 A g^(-1) after 100 cycles and impressive rate storage capability of 287.7 m A h g^(-1)at 20 A g^(-1).More importantly,a robust cycling performance of 205.5 m A h g^(-1) at an extra-high current density of 20 A g^(-1) are observed without remarkable capacity-fading up to1000 *** behavior superiority of Sn-DHTPA is related to its advanced architecture with abundant lithium storage sites,high electrical conductivity and rapid lithium transport.A series of ex-situ characterizations reveal that the impressive lithium storage capacity is contributed by the redox active sites of both the aromatic linker and metal center related to in-situ generated metallic nanoparticles dispersed in the skeleton.

Point-cloud segmentation of individual trees in complex natural forest scenes based on a trunk-growth method

Forest resource management and ecological assessment have been recently supported by emerging *** laser scanning(TLS)is one that can be quickly and accurately used to obtain three-dimensional forest information,and create good representations of forest vertical *** data can be exploited for highly significant tasks,particularly the segmentation and information extraction for individual ***,the existing single-tree segmentation methods suffer from low segmentation accuracy and poor robustness,and hence do not lead to satisfactory results for natural forests in complex *** this paper,we propose a trunk-growth(TG)method for single-tree point-cloud segmentation,and apply this method to the natural forest scenes of Shangri-La City in Northwest Yunnan,***,the point normal vector and its Z-axis component are used as trunk-growth ***,the points surrounding the trunk are searched to account for ***,the nearest distributed branch and leaf points are used to complete the individual tree *** results show that the TG method can effectively segment individual trees with an average F-score of *** proposed method applies to many types of trees with various growth shapes,and can effectively identify shrubs and herbs in complex scenes of natural *** promising outcomes of the TG method demonstrate the key advantages of combining plant morphology theory and LiDAR technology for advancing and optimizing forestry systems.

Oral uptake and persistence of the FnAb-8 protein characterized by in situ radio-labeling and PET/CT imaging

Non‐linearly conductive ZnO microvaristors/epoxy resin composite prepared by wet winding with polyester fibre cloth

ZnO microvaristors/epoxy resin composite has drawn great attention from academia and industry for its adjustable non‐linear conductivity,high mechanical strength,and good ageing ***,the sedimentation of ZnO microvaristors in epoxy resin during preparation is the key problem,which limits its application in *** this study,a novel method of wet winding with polyester fibre cloth is proposed to prepare the ZnO microvaristors/epoxy resin *** anti‐settling effect of ZnO micro-varistors in the composite is verified by scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA).The microstructure shows that ZnO microvaristors distribute uniformly in the composite,and the content difference of ZnO microvaristors at the top and bottom part is only 0.4%.The composite shows typical non‐linear conductivity,and the threshold electric field and the non‐linear coefficient decrease with the content of ZnO microvaristors,while the conductivity in the insulating state shows an increasing *** verify the field grading effect of the composite with non‐linear conductivity(CNC),a finite element model of a needle‐plate electrode,simulating the condition of a conductive tip in a solid insulated system,is set *** can adaptively grade the electric field,which reduces the surface electric field of the needle tip by 86.6%and the highest electric field in the system by 82.1%.This wet winding method solidifies the industrial application of CNC in high‐voltage power equipment.

Astronomical forcing and sedimentary noise modeling of lake-level changes in the Middle Eocene Chezhen Sag,Bohai Bay Basin,eastern China

The accurate determination of geological age is a key to understanding the history and process of paleolake evolution and oil and gas exploration in continental lake ***,improving the accuracy of geological age has always been a difficult scientific problem.A 609-m-thick,continuous lacustrine mudstone and sandstone succession in Chezhen Sag(eastern China)provides an ideal middle Eocene sedimentary record for establishing a high-resolution stratigraphic chronology *** on spectrum analysis and sliding window spectrum analysis of the natural gamma(GR)logging data of well Che 271(C271)in Chezhen Sag,the periods of 405 kyr and 40.1 kyr were filtered by a Gaussian bandpass filter,and a“floating”astrochronological time scale(ATS)was *** total number of 405 kyr eccentricity cycles were 13.6 and 40.1 kyr obliquity cycles were 138 which recorded from the upper member 4(Es4U)to the member 3(Es3)of the Eocene Shahejie Formation,and the depositional duration was 5.53 *** Coefficient(COCO)analysis and evolutionary Correlation Coefficient(eCoCo)analysis found that the optimal sedimentary rate of different *** noise simulation revealed the history of paleolake water changes in the Middle Eocene in the Chezhen Sag,according to which four sequences are *** study shows that the lake level change of Chezhen Sag in the middle Eocene shows prominent 1.2 Myr cycles and an antiphase well-coupled relationship with obliquity ***,we propose a model to explain the relationship between the orbital cycle and lake level change in the continental lake *** the obliquity of the earth increases,the middle and high latitudes of the earth will be closer to the sun,the direct sunlight will be higher,and the meridional sunshine will increase,thus accelerating the evaporation process of lake basin *** the seasonal changes are obvious(maximum period of 1.2 Myr ultra-long obliquity),this effect is more signific

Efficient dehydration of carbohydrates to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural in ionic liquids catalyzed by tin(Ⅳ) phosphonate and zirconium phosphonate

In this work,we synthesized tin(IV)phosphonate(SnBPMA)and zirconium phosphonate(ZrBPMA)by the reaction of SnCl4·5H2O or ZrOCl2·8H2O with N,N-bis(phosphonomethyl)aminoacetic acid,which was synthesized from a biomaterial glycine through a Mannich-type *** SnBPMA and ZrBPMA were very efficient heterogeneous catalysts for the dehydration of fructose to produce 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF),and the SnBPMA had higher activity than the *** effects of solvents,temperature,reaction time,and reactant/solvent weight ratio on the reaction catalyzed by SnBPMA were *** was demonstrated that the yield of HMF could reach 86.5%with 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bromide([Emim]Br)as solvent,and the SnBPMA and SnBPMA/[Emim]Br catalytic system could be reused five times without considerable reduction in catalytic *** study indicated that the SnBPMA and ZrBPMA in[Emim]Br were also effective for the dehydration of sucrose and inulin to produce HMF with satisfactory yields.
