Brazilin Actuates Ferroptosis in Breast Cancer Cells via p53/SLC7A11/GPX4 Signaling Pathway

Objective:To investigate the mechanism of induction of ferroptosis by brazilin in breast cancer ***:Breast cancer 4T1 cells were divided into 6 groups:control,brazilin 1/2 half maximal inhibitory concentration(IC50),IC50,2×IC50,erastin（10 μg/mL） and capecitabine（10 μg/mL） *** effect of brazilin on the proliferation of 4T1 cells was detected by cell counting kit-8 assay,and the treatment dose of brazilin was *** effect of brazilin on the mitochondrial morphology of 4T1 cells,and the mitochondrial damage was evaluated under electron *** levels of Fe2+,reactive oxygen species（ROS）,malondialdehyde（MDA）,glutathione（GSH） and glutathione peroxidase 4（GPX4） were estimated using various detection *** invasion and migration abilities of 4T1 cells were detected by scratch assay and transwell *** expressions levels of tumor protein p53, solute carrier family 7 member 11（SLC7A11）,GPX4 and acyl-CoA synthetase long-chain family member 4（ACSL4） proteins were quantified by Western blot ***:Compared to the control group,the 10(1/2 IC50),20(IC50) and 40(2×IC50) μg/mL brazilin,erastin,and capecitabine groups showed a significant decrease in the cell survival rate,invasion and migration abilities,GSH,SLC7A11 and GPX4 protein expression levels,and mitochondrial volume and ridge（P<0.05）,and a significant increase in the mitochondria membrane density,Fe2+,ROS and MDA levels,and p53 and ACSL4protein expression levels（P<0.05）.Conclusions:Brazilin actuated ferroptosis in breast cancer cells,and the underlying mechanism is mainly associated with the p53/SLC7A11/GPX4 signaling pathway.

Geographically and Temporally Weighted Regression in Assessing Dengue Fever Spread Factors in Yunnan Border Regions

Objective This study employs the Geographically and Temporally Weighted Regression(GTWR)model to assess the impact of meteorological elements and imported cases on dengue fever outbreaks,emphasizing the spatial-temporal variability of these factors in border *** We conducted a descriptive analysis of dengue fever’s temporal-spatial distribution in Yunnan border *** annual data from 2013 to 2019,with each county in the Yunnan border serving as a spatial unit,we constructed a GTWR model to investigate the determinants of dengue fever and their spatio-temporal heterogeneity in this *** The GTWR model,proving more effective than Ordinary Least Squares(OLS)analysis,identified significant spatial and temporal heterogeneity in factors influencing dengue fever’s spread along the Yunnan ***,the GTWR model revealed a substantial variation in the relationship between indigenous dengue fever incidence,meteorological variables,and imported cases across different *** In the Yunnan border areas,local dengue incidence is affected by temperature,humidity,precipitation,wind speed,and imported cases,with these factors’influence exhibiting notable spatial and temporal variation.

Photocatalytic water splitting has emerged as a new frontier for converting solar energy to green H_(2) and value-added ***,great challenges still remain for developing efficient photocatalysts for pure water splitting without sacrificial *** this work,we demonstrate that doping hexagonal ZnIn_(2)S_(4)(ZIS) with Pd single atoms(Pd_(0.03)/ZIS) can serve as a highly efficient photocatalyst for pure water splitting to simultaneously produce H_(2) and H_(2)O_(2) without any sacrificial *** from aberration-corrected high-angle annular dark field scanning transmission electron microscopy,X-ray fine spectroscopy,insitu electron paramagnetic resonance and diffuse Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy reveal that doping ZIS with Pd single atoms facilitates the formation of S vacancies(S_(v)),where the photogenerated electrons can transfer to Pd single atoms,as a result of enhanced separation of electron-hole pairs and improved photocatalytic ***,Pd_(0.03)/ZIS displays a stoichiometric ratio of H_(2) and H_(2)O_(2) with the productivity of 1,037.9 and 1,021.4μmol g^(-1)h^(-1),respectively,which has largely outperformed pure ZIS and other reported catalysts for pure water *** work provides an efficient photocatalyst for water splitting to produce H_(2) and H_(2)O_(2),which may attract rapid interest in materials science,chemistry,and heterogeneous catalysis.

Improving Thermal-oxidative Aging Resistance of Styrene-butadiene Rubber by Antioxidant Loaded Silica Aerogel

Photoinduced generation of alkyl and phthalimide nitrogen radicals from N-hydroxyphthalimide esters for the synthesis of benzophenone-type bioisosteres

N-Hydroxyphthalimide(NHPI)esters have emerged as powerful sources of alkyl radicals generated by single-electron transfer,but homolysis of NHPI ester to produce an alkyl radical and a phthalimide nitrogen radical is still in its *** this study,we developed a light-induced method for generation of alkyl and phthalimide nitrogen radicals from NHPI esters and subsequent reactions of the radicals with[1.1.1]propellane and aryl aldehydes for rapid generation of bicycle[1.1.1]pentane *** method does not require metals or photosensitizers,features a broad substrate scope(90 examples)and excellent functional group tolerance,and can be used for the functionalization of structurally complex natural products and *** investigations indicate that the reaction involves photoinduced homolytic cleavage of the Cs_(2)CO_(3)-NHPI ester complex to produce alkyl and phthalimide nitrogen radicals and subsequent hydrogen atom transfer between the phthalimide nitrogen radical and the aldehyde to generate an acyl radical.

Early clinical outcome with lens position adjustment following implantable collamer lens surgery

AIM:To observe early clinical outcome with lens position adjustment following the implantable collamer lens(ICL)***:Sixty patients were selected for this retrospective *** eye from each patient received Toric ICL for astigmatism correction,and the other received non-astigmatic ICL surgery using horizontal *** with higher postoperative arch height were selected,and their non-astigmatic eye clinical outcome were observed after ICL surgery at 1wk,1,and *** clinical measurements included uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA),intraocular pressure(IOP),refractive state,corneal endothelium cell count,and arch *** months later,the ICL in each patient’s non-astigmatic eye was adjusted to the vertical from the horizontal *** results were compared before and 1wk,1,and 3mo after ***:UCVA and IOP were significantly reduced 1wk after position adjustment compared to 1wk after ICL implantation(P0.05).CONCLUSION:Early positioning adjustment postphakic ICL implantation can benefit patients with adjusted arch height or higher *** the good clinical effects,the doctors should pay attention to the potential for adverse effects on UCVA and corneal endothelium cells following early position adjustment after posterior chamber phakic ICL implantation.

Surface Polarization Effects on Collapse Transition of Polyelectrolyte Brushes

Polyelectrolyte brushes(PEBs)are commonly used to modify surface that have attracted great research *** dielectric permittivity of the grafted surface is typically significantly different from that of solution,which results in surface polarization(SP)effect with a jump of electric *** is thus important to study how SP alters the PEB’s structure and *** this work,the SP effects on PEB structure was studied using a statistical thermodynamic *** free energy functional to describe SP effect was constructed by using the image-charge ***,the electrostatic potential was solved from a modified Poisson-Boltzmann equation taking the ion solvation effect into *** the absence of SP,the thickness of PEB exhibited a continuous collapse transition when decreasing the solvent *** the presence of SP,the collapse became a jump-like *** energy analysis showed that the long-range Coulombic interaction dominated the transition because of the enhanced counterion condensation in the presence of *** theory provides an effective tool to study SP effect on PEBs,and the results explain the underlying physics in PEB collapse transition.

Ultra-thin electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorbers present challenging demands on EMW absorption *** inspiration from heather leaf structures,this study introduces an innovative design strategy for EMW absorbing material,proposing biomimetic leaf SnO_(2) structures(bio-SnO_(2))on carbon fabric(CF).By employing leaf-shaped SnS2 as precursors,biomimetic leaf SnO_(2) nanostructures are constructed on CF surface after a simple thermal treatment,resulting in bio-SnO_(2)@CF *** results indicate that bio-SnO_(2)@CF exhibits an exceptional minimum reflection loss of-54.8 dB at an incredibly thin thickness of 1.2 *** cross section(RCS)simulations further validate the outstanding EMW attenuation ability of bio-SnO_(2)@CF,attaining a maximum RCS reduction value of 16.9 dBm^(2) at an incident wave angle ofθ=0°.This novel research showcases the biomimetic structural design strategy and its remarkable function in enhancing the EMW absorbing performance at ultra-thin absorber thickness.

Promotion effect of epoxy group neighboring single-atom Cu site on acetylene hydrochlorination

Carbon materials have been used as the support for catalysts in the field of acetylene hydrochlorination,the influence of inevitable oxygen-containing moieties on the reaction is often ignored and the mechanism of the oxygen-doping structure remains ***,we explored the effect of the oxygen-containing group(C-O-C)in the support on the activity of single-atom dispersed Cu *** immersing the Cu single-atom catalyst in an alkaline solution,the epoxy species on the carbon support was cleaved to obtain a pure ether species while the Cu site was modified to a more electron-deficient *** turnover frequency value of Cu/O-FLP catalyst with epoxy groups was 1.6-fold higher than that of alkaline treated *** result indicated that the epoxy groups could assist adjacent single-atom Cu sites to synergistically promote the adsorption and cleavage of the reactant hydrogen chloride toward form C-OH and Cu-Cl bonds,and reduce the reaction energy *** presence of electron deficient Cu sites and ether species could induce competitive adsorption of the acetylene and hydrogen chloride,thereby reducing the activity of the *** study highlights the influence of surface oxygen species and the tunability of the support,providing the foundation for the fabrication of higher-activity Cu catalysts for acetylene hydrochlorination.
