Suppressive effects of exercise-conditioned serum on cancer cells:A narrative review of the influence of exercise mode,volume,and intensity

Cancer is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide,and the incidence is increasing,highlighting the need for effective strategies to treat this *** has emerged as fundamental therapeutic medicine in the management of cancer,associated with a lower risk of recur-rence and increased *** avenues of research demonstrate reduction in growth,proliferation,and increased apoptosis of cancer cells,including breast,prostate,colorectal,and lung cancer,when cultured by serum collected after exercise in vitro(i.e.,the cultivation of cancer cell lines in an experimental setting,which simpliﬁes the biological system and provides mechanistic insight into cell responses).The underlying mechanisms of exercise-induced cancer suppressive effects may be attributed to the alteration in circulating factors,such as skeletal muscle-induced cytokines(i.e.,myokines)and ***,exercise-induced tumor suppressive effects and detailed information about training interventions are not well investigated,constraining more precise application of exercise medicine within clinical *** date,it remains unclear what role different training modes(i.e.,resistance and aerobic training)as well as volume and intensity have on exercise-condi-tioned serum and its effects on cancer ***,the available evidence is that a single bout of aerobic training at moderate to vigorous intensity has cancer suppressive effects,while for chronic training interventions,exercise volume appears to be an inﬂuential candidate driving cancer inhibitory effects regardless of training *** for future research investigating training modes,volume and intensity are provided to further our understanding of the effects of exercise-conditioned serum on cancer cells.

BACKGROUND Early detection of colorectal cancer(CRC)is essential to reduce cancer-related morbidity and *** DNA(sDNA)testing is an emerging method for early CRC ***-2(SDC2)methylation is a potential biomarker for the sDNA *** DNA methylation is an early epigenetic event during tumorigenesis and can occur in the normal colonic mucosa during aging,which can compromise the sDNA test *** In this prospective study,we enrolled 151 patients with CRC who underwent curative surgical resection between September 2016 and May *** stool samples were collected from 123 patients and postoperative samples were collected from 122 patients.A total of 104 samples were collected from both preoperative and postoperative *** promoter methylation of SDC2 in sDNA was assessed using linear target enrichment quantitative methylation-specific real-time polymerase chain *** parameters were analyzed using the results of SDC2 *** Detection rates of SDC2 methylation in the preoperative and postoperative stool samples were 88.6%and 19.7%,*** tumor size(3 cm,P=0.019)and advanced T stage(T3–T4,P=0.033)were positively associated with the detection rate of SDC2 methylation before *** sex was associated with false positives after surgery(P=0.030).Cycle threshold(CT)values were significantly decreased postoperatively compared with preoperative values(P<0.001).The postoperative negative conversion rate for preoperatively methylated SDC2 was 79.3%(73/92).CONCLUSION Our results suggested that the SDC2 methylation test for sDNA has acceptable sensitivity and ***,small size and early T stage tumors are associated with a low detection rate of SDC2 *** the cycle threshold values significantly decreased after surgery,SDC2 methylation test for sDNA might have a diagnostic value for CRC.

AIM： To investigate the effects and safety of neodymium： yttrium-aluminium-garnet（Nd：YAG） laser posterior capsulotomy with vitreous strand cuttingMETHODS： A total of 40 eyes of 37 patients with symptomatic posterior capsular opacity（PCO） were included in this prospective randomized study and were randomly subjected to either cruciate pattern or round pattern Nd：YAG posterior capsulotomy with vitreous strand cutting（modified round pattern）. The best corrected visual acuity（BCVA）, intraocular pressure（IOP）, refractive error, endothelial cell count（ECC）, anterior segment parameters, including anterior chamber depth（ACD） and anterior chamber angle（ACA） were measured before and 1 mo after the laser posterior capsulotomy. RESULTS： In both groups, the BCVA improved significantly（P〈0.001 for the modified round pattern group, P=0.001 for the cruciate pattern group）; the IOP and ECC did not significantly change. The ACD significantly decreased（P〈0.001 for both） and the ACA significantly increased（P=0.001 for the modified round pattern group and P=0.034 for the cruciate group）. The extent of changes in these parameters was not significantly different between the ***： Modified round pattern Nd：YAG laser posterior capsulotomy is an effective and safe method for the treatment of PCO. This method significantly changes the ACD and ACA, but the change in refraction is not significant. Modified round pattern Nd：YAG laser posterior capsulotomy can be considered a good alternative procedure in patients with symptomatic PCO.

An 81-year-old man presented with epigastric pain and weight loss for one month. He had a past history of pulmonary tuberculosis, 10 years ago. We performed a gastroscopy, which showed a linear depressed whitish gastric ulcer scar (0.8 cm in length) in the posterior wall of the prepyloric antrum. The result of biopsy was reported as squamous epithelium. Immunohistochemical staining using an antibody to high molecular weight cytokeratin (HMC) revealed positive staining in the squamous epithelium. Two years later, the lesion was followed up. The lesion remained at same site endoscopically, but no squamous epithelium could be seen microscopically.

Background: Controlled-release oxycodone/naloxone(OXN-CR) maintains the effect of opioid-induced analgesia through oxycodone while reducing the occurrence rate of opioid-induced constipation through naloxone. The present study was designed to assess the non-inferiority of OXN-CR to controlled-release oxycodone(OX-CR) for the control of cancer-related pain in Korean ***: In this randomized, open-labeled, parallel-group, phase IV study, we enrolled patients aged 20 years or older with moderate to severe cancer-related pain [numeric rating scale(NRS) pain score ≥4] from seven Korean oncology/hematology centers. Patients in the intention-to-treat(ITT) population were randomized(1:1) to OXNCR or OX-CR groups. OXN-CR was administered starting at 20 mg/10 mg per day and up-titrated to a maximum of80 mg/40 mg per day for 4 weeks, and OX-CR was administered starting at 20 mg/day and up-titrated to a maximum of 80 mg/day for 4 *** primary efficacy endpoint was the change in NRS pain score from baseline to week4, with non-inferiority margin of-1.5. Secondary endpoints included analgesic rescue medication intake, patientreported change in bowel habits, laxative intake, quality of life(QoL), and safety ***: Of the ITT population comprising 128 patients, 7 with missing primary efficacy data and 4 who violated the eligibility criteria were excluded from the efficacy analysis. At week 4, the mean change in NRS pain scores was not significantly different between the OXN-CR group(n = 58) and the OX-CR group(n = 59)(-1.586 vs.-1.559,P = 0.948). The lower limit of the one-sided 95% confidence interval(-0.776 to 0.830) for the difference exceeded the non-inferiority margin(P < 0.001). FT, a mem- ber of the phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein （PEBP） family, functions as a florigen or a component of florigen.
